Yeah they are very rare we just fight them well in almost every da product. ;)

We have entire tower of abomnation but rarity.

Well after demo i can pretty much say it mages are insane idiots that can't control their power but that is old news since well first product.

You're obviously not thinking about the world at large, we fight them in every game because our characters are outstanding warriors, rogues or mages. It even says most people will never see magic their entire lives but in every DA game you see a spell cast, so think about it.

Which doesn't change fact that those abomnations are there so still abomnations aren't rare.Pretty much heavily disagree taking into account numbers of disasters that mages caused and unleashed onto folks hardly most peoples don't see magic.

You make me really hope there is a mage supremacist option.

Yep, TheKomandorShepard does tend to inspire most mage fans inner Lord Voldemort ;).

The thing is i get where he is coming from, if he only plays non mage characters then his canon point of view is that of a mundane and to a mundane mages are a danger.

How much of a danger they represent is up for debate but TheKomandorShepard favors the more extreme solution, which ironically is no different then the way a mage supremacist would approach the mundane issue.

I love irony. :D

Yeah Kishimoto's work has Declined considerably since he started shippuden, its one ridiculous twist after another.

Anyway we are veering way off topic here, so back to discussing the rightful place of mages a the rulers of Theadas.

One problem I think is that we never get to see Tevinter's side of the story, it's always been the point of view of andrastians which would undoubtedly be biased.

It is not about supremacy; the Chantry must pay for their transgressions; one way or another they will be made to answer for their heinous crimes.

Quite so, we are only given one perspective and a very biased one at that.

This backward argument is getting old. How about I post a random video of mundanes getting killed, and that will be the proof that all mundanes are weak?

Remember when the qunari couldnt take over Thedas because for all their military might and gunpowder, they couldnt stand up to magic?

How in the world were circles middle ground? Locking every mage in Thedas up for life is almost the absolute extreme (which would be just killing all of them).

The middle ground would be between the camp of "lock them up/kill them" and "set them all loose without restriction"

Hence supervised mages guild.

Many mages have reached for blood magic because of being oppressed. If things were different, there would be a lot less blood mages

If circles show anything, it's that mages don't want to be locked up in a tower for their entire life. That's a pretty normal thing for everyone to not want for themselves, don't you think?

Actually set them all free is the middle ground. The absolute extreme is mages rule over everyone else, (which is the symmetric opposite of everyone else screwing them over).

Hate to stray off topic, but there's a tenable argument that Sith philosophy is no worse than Jedi philosophy. The Sith don't actually kill people for the lulz. Their philosophy is (on second thought, maybe it's not so off topic) that they will attain freedom through victory in battle. Their atrocities are only in furtherance of said battle, and not mindless slaughter for the sake of it.

On topic, mages have been forcibly imprisoned for generations, so one can't fault them for wanting to rule over the others. It isn't any more unjust for the mages to rule over mundanes to protect themselves from the mundanes than the reverse is true. It's just a matter of might making right, which is generally the theme in Dragon Age.

Can't is actually very different from 'choose not to'. I don't think I would restrain my power against those who would enslave me given the chance.

That seems a lot saner than letting bigots imprison, enslave and dominate you.

In most Star War games and books I've seen and read the Sith do in fact kill people for very minor reasons.

Yeaaaa . no . And that's why i rarely play Mages/Wizards the simple fact they are generally extremely smug and arrogant, the closest thing to a caster i play is things like Clerics / Favored soul Divine magic is much better imo.

Mages however have 0 right to rule anything just cause you can shoot a fireball doesn't make you somehow better then everyone. I'm not saying the current system in the DA Universe works but No I would not approve of Mages being the rulers.

My idea is the Circles stay BUT they act as schools and the mages can go home to there families and such after Circle Hours are done and can enjoy the rest of the day , Templars remain as the Guards to protect everyone in the circle and to put down Blood mages / mages who are unable to control there power and being taken over by demons but they don't get free-reign to do as they please to mages.
