At least in Skyhold we probably won't have to have sex in front of Morrigan while she stands there stonefaced.
Probably.
Well, now I know why she was always angry. Everyone was using her tent for their... misadventures. ![]()

Has it been mentioned where exactly Skyhold is located in relation to the rest of Thedas? The name suggests somewhere mountainous but there are a fair few places that could be.

Nope , we don't know.
Maybe it's possible to guess looking at the world map in the war room?
I will try to look at screen shots.

I believe it's in the Frostback Mountains.
Don't quote me on that, though.
So we're back in Fereldan.
If there's a Fereldan option with Mabari, I may choose that. Otherwise it's Kirkwall style since my MageWardenHawkeQuisitor is the same guy.

Yeah I also think there's a high chance it's going to be in the Frostback.
I've been looking at the map , and I couldn't find it. ![]()
One thing I've noticed is the main hall looks a bit like the main hall of Theirinfal Redoubt (?) , this Seeker fort is in Ferelden.
Now I'm not sure there's a difference between Orlesian forts and Fereldan ones .

Can we get drunk at the Tavern? Just sit their and drown our sorrows and it takes your companions to drag you from the bar telling you you have had enough?

If it is in the Frostbacks, I'm admittedly a little disappointed that it doesn't appear to be located in a place similar to the concept art.

That looked kewl.

The frostback mountains are like that though. haven is barely up the mountains. and i'm pretty sure the devs have said its located in the frostback mountains.

Seems to be an unusual amount of green, then. Maybe there are seasonal changes or something.

Most likely and I'm pretty sure I see a bit of green on Skyhold in the concept art.
it's hard to see if it is green plants since Skyhold is so far away in the concept art.

Well the name kind of indicates it's like that.
"Frostback Mountains" does not invoke a green and pleasant land.

It should be fairly easy if it is designed to be self-sufficient, garden provides the food, I suppose the rookery could keep chickens, wood for fireplaces might be tough to come by in the mountains but you can stock up that stuff in large quantities and transport it in, it's location is actually ideal for a forge, since mountains are bound to have ore deposits for swords, armor, etc. Actually building that sucker must have been tough, unless it was built with the same stone from the mountains. It would have still needed a quarry. Not much else you need to supply with, a tanner is kind of pointless unless you keep live stock to make leather with, I bet the just import that stuff though. It seems like a nice place for a small garrison, but I doubt it is a good idea to have a village there. The economy for it is fairly unique since most of the stuff the inquisition gets will be from expansion into other regions.

There's zero arable land. You might have a garden big enough to feed a few people, but enough to fully staff the keep?
Water would be treacherous to aquire, unless there's a well inside the keep somewhere. And judging by that river it would have to be a deep one,
As you pointed out wood is a problem and while it can be brought it, lumber's pretty heavy and those roads don't look very easy to navigate.
You could only keep a limited number of chickens in the rookery, in which case, where do you put the ravens?

I doubt there is going to live that many people in keep.
I see a couple of hundred at best living at the keep because of the limited resources.

The only thing that would make the castle more secure is if that bridge was also a draw bridge.
