I'm guessing that's not the stronghold, actually - there were some images of various customizations, commerce, espionage, fortress, etc., and it looked to be in more of a desert/wastes area, rather than the mountains.

For that place, I'd be more inclined to say it's a Grey Warden hold, the one we see under attack in the trailer.

Firstly, if it were Grey Warden why would Solas and Femquiz be smiling while overseeing what is probably members of the inquisition there
Secondly, we know our HQ is called Skyhold, and that place is on a freaking mountain

I think theres a 99% probability that that is Skyhold :v

Are you talking about this one?

Spoiler

Because that is apparently called griffon wing which is the one captured in the pax demo last year. It can become one of the regional inquisition fortresses in the western approach but it certainly isnt our main HQ, skyhold.

Y'know I think that might actually be the grey warden fortress we attack. Look at the bottom, center right and you can see the silhouette of a guard. Now it might just be me but his helmet looks like the ones worn by the wardens in the trailers seen thus far. It is extreamly flimsy evidence however so I dont put to much faith in this theory.

From the things that has been heard about our personal castle base thing with the upgrades and the choices, it makes me think of Suikodens castle. Makes me feel a bit happy to just imagine a game that could possibly have it, because I spent a stupid amount of time just running around enjoying new upgrades for the castle in Suikoden, and seeing what was new and what the characters had to say.

I can't see why they can't have a feature that is similar and expanded upon from a now ten year old game, yet no ones actually done anything like that since then. With the talk of how important our personal army is, and how we're supposed to be building up our story and our choices with customization, it seems like naturally the ability to have the castle apart of that heavy customization.

I don't mean the ability to set items down like in the Sims, but at least the ability to choose what sort of rooms or decor themes/colors. Stores, companions having their own rooms and different events you could run into with them, you know, make it really feel like it's your castle rather then just a base that you go to once in a while because you have to, make me want to go home.

That is now multiple references to this Suikoden game I have heard - I should check it out :) As far as all customizing goes, they have hinted at it being fairly thorough (without really being specific) which is why I can't wait to find out more. I believe it will be extremely cool and I have a good amount of faith in them. They did say we would be customizing, and controlling our own castle so this alone sounds amazing and worth playing for!

Suikoden is one of those game series that shows a lot of love and care in them, if you do go and try them out I'd say the best of the series is 2. It's a game about war, betrayal, grey motives and a wonderful cast of colorful characters and they all have their own little stories, you can get 108 different characters in the game ranging from fighters to store owners who open up new things for your castles to a chef where you get to play an Iron Chef type of mini game. The castle grows and grows the more you get in your military, and the story of the struggle the characters go through the loss in war. While it is still a JRPG and thus linear, it should be reminded that this is a PS1 game, the world is still very large and you go to many places, always having the castle to go home to. Lots of really important events happen there too, and along the way through the game it even gets infiltrated, and you have to defend it. It's a pure utter shame that when it was released it was poorly rated and only had one run of printing, making it stupidly rare and even the PSP port of it never saw beyond Japan, because it's truly a JRPG game that any fan of RPGs could enjoy.

Er, anyways, yeah I'm hoping too that they can keep up the promise for the castle. The mansion in DAII was okay, but always felt so hollow and empty. It creeped me out too much to really enjoy it. I was hoping that people would ask about it during Q&A's but it seems like it's a forgotten feature when it comes to the general populations questions.

i can only imagine what cole's room would be.... in fact i cant even imagine it...  i mean the kid lived in the dungeons of the white spire...  so the only thing that comes to mind is maybe the dungeon of the castle

Probably depressing as hell.

I very much hope that Skyhold is indeed that mountain fortress. I fell in love with that concept art from the get-go.

I think these might be early concept-art pictures of it.

Spoiler

There's apsolutely no confirmation, I just think it would be unlikely that they would show so many pictures of a single inquisition stronghold unless it was our HQ. Also it looks like it might be in the frostback mountains which seems like a likely place for our HQ to be placed as it would be near Fereldan and Orlais and it would make it easy to defend.

Anyway I don't know about you but I think it looks ****ing awesome.

Yeah, that's the concept art for the Skyhold. Look at the Stand Together trailer and you'll see the same castle. I'm certain that the Skyhold is located in the Frostback Mountains, it's a great spot for a HQ because of the central location between Ferelden and Orlais.

I'm pretty sure it is customisable; one of the bonuses for pre-ordering is a new throne isn't it?

Looks cool in my opinion, however it doesn't fit with the whole inquisition theme in my opinion. Perhaps a more barbaric organisation. The Iron Throne should be a pre order bonus :3

Yes, my thoughts exactly. I am hoping there is a way to customize the throne as well, or at least choose a new one...on the other hand, we get our own throne!!! how cool is that?! :)

Is it bad that I want my "dark lord" inquisitor to have this as his throne?
