adas can't headshot and is only useful against geth and even then only with rof increase

Yeah, I've tried ADAS before and it was meh outside of Bronze, but with the ROF boost it rips Geth apart. I'm not even exaggerating.

Adas is one the best murder machines in the game regardless of who/what uses it. Stagger phantoms? Check. Stagger goons? Check. Strip shields? Check. Prime just about anything it hits? Check.

Quarians got a few things absolutely right. Bum bums and weapons. Can't figure out how to make the latter work? That's on the user.

Why Krogan? What's special about this build, how is it supposed to work?

On paper, N7 Destroyer looks like a good ADAS platform, possibly better than QM.

I've heard this viewpoint in more than a few lobbies my Human Engineer has landed in, especially when Reapers have been involved. It'll sound cocky if I say I've changed their minds.  But I've either changed their minds or their mic batteries have run out.  It's better than you think.  Sounds like a broken washing machine though.

Krogan Soldier's powers melt Armour.  The ADAS strips Shields and Barriers rapidly, setting up Fire Explosions with Carnage and Inferno Grenades.  And it stuns for melee attacks.  It's beyond destructive.  Strictly for pyjaks, of course.   :P

Destroyer is a very good ADAS platform, but I would doubt if it's better than the QM.

Like Grunt said, he is great against armor. Also, Krogan is super tanky which is very useful off host and in case you need a high shields guy for pizza and devices.

but a krogan is slower so the pizza will get cold. Better to let a quick character deliver it

A constantly headbutting Krogan is faster than many characters, and almost indestructible.  Other players with skill can even kite enemies for him to charge without dropping the pizza if it's a cross-map hike.  It's riotous. Rarrrrr!!

Not if you run with the pizza. A krogan running with the pizza will last a whole lot longer than an N7 Fury or something.

Incendiary Ammo IV + Adas + Weapons Platform Geth Trooper = glorious burning death for all enemies, regardless of difficulty level.  I used it for a while on Platinum, with pretty decent results.  Seemed to do really well against Collectors, as I recall.

Turian Cabal melee build.

shoot shoot --> nightshadeblade --> poison strike.  Great vs. reaper and ok vs Collectors.

Heavy melee all mooks who are alone.  Use poison strike against a group of them.  Let the DOT kill them.  Hit and run style.

(biotic focus to recharge shield for survivability - just enough time to get away)

hate the Vorcha Soldier. I played him to complete the challenge once, then I shelved him.

Well, the Randomizer gave me a gem, I took it and ran with it ;)

Vorcha Scorpion Soldier

It was goofy and ridiculous, but it was awesome and it worked.

Really? Full Flamer damage spec Vorcha Soldier and Vorcha Sentinel (it's the same character as far as I'm concerned) are among my very favorites. Scores top more often than not, very easy to play.

They really aren't. The Vorcha Soldier needs Carnage to detonate his flamer priming, so he has to be cooldown conscious. If he has the CSMG he never needs to visit the ammo crates so he spends his time flaming, dodging, shooting, carnaging, meleeing. The Sentinel has Clusternades to detonate, no cooldown problem, so he can carry a heavy weapon that adds to his spike damage, like the Venom. He spends time running to ammo crates but in between he can rush groups of enemies, flame them, toss in a Clusternade, dodge out and run off to find the enemy respawn. Because of the difference, the Soldier does better dealing with small groups of mooks and cleaning up the small stuff, doing flamer damage to the bosses and leaving them to be finished off by the team. The Sentinel shoul deal with larger groups of enemies, and can take down medium-big stuff very quickly. They should be specced differently to reflect the different style.

I very rarely use a Grenade user but recently I find a certain pleasure playing a Drell Adept with Cluster Grenades.

It's a full reave, full cluster, 3 pull, 5 passive, and full health build.

I don't understand why people recommend missing out pull... it's a life saver against mooks (and Phantoms), and considering Drell Adept's low health even mooks can be a source of many frustrations.

Interesting considerations, it didn't occur to me. I can see how one can possibly be more effective playing the way you've described it compared to how I do it. But it requires high skill, and doesn't sound like fun at all - too many things to consider in real time, buttons to press and ammo boxes to visit. I just burn all the things and occasionally shoot Acolyte to strip shields. With this build, there isn't a single difference between the 2 characters. Again, I admit I'm not using the character's full potential, but it works extremely well for me.

If you don't use nades, don't use carnage, and carry the same weapon then they are the same, yes. The way you describe playing is a style that fits the Soldier well, but the Sentinel can definitely be played very differently. And it does not require high skill, because I am able to play him that way and I am the precise definition of low skill at this game. One has to try things out, that's all.

I may have made the ammo crate runs seem too tedious. With Nade Cap V you can be carrying 9 nades, and you olnly need one, at most two, to wreck a spawn. I just make it a point to touch any ammo box that I go near - when not being shot at, anyway.

Sorry you went AFK earlier this week when I was in your lobby, I would have liked the opportunity to get a game with you.

I did? Pity, I would definitely like to learn a few things from you.

Sometimes it takes so long for someone to join my lobby (more than 5 minutes) that I alt-tab to the web browser. Usually I check back every 30-60 seconds, but sometimes I forget I have an open lobby and get back way too late.

I don't think I ever missed the first wave yet, though, so it could be worse :)

^^^ That's lies and we both know it!

How are the grenades supposed to work, anyway? Can they detonate FE? Set the group of enemies on fire and throw one grenade in the middle?

P. S. I appreciate your detailed replies, thanks for taking the time to write them.

I never understand the lack of love for the Adas, its stun-locking alone makes for happy shootings. The fact it's also one of the rare weapons with innate damage to shields makes it a valued weapon for a lot of characters.

Another build that's recently become one of my favourites is the big biotic explosions of the Krogan Shaman. BEs and full Krogan melee (it's a build you can happily completely skip passives on) makes a very fun versatile killing machine.

Yes, Cluster nades detonate all (most?) primers. The flamer primes for an FE, so you run up to the spawn, give everything a lick of flame - it primes very rapidly - then you dodge back and toss in a Cluster nade, so the pieces bounce into the group. Preferably specced for shrapnel at rank 6. It is not only possible, but actually almost easy, to get killstreaks like this. The Venom with Incendiary Ammo adds to the general destruction and screenshake :)

Sounds intriguing, but what do I have to give up for it? I have nothing to give away but damage or survivability, and I kinda like both...
