I finally found a kit I like the Phaeston on! The Geth Engineer, with Incendiary Ammo. I have always hated this gun because it just didn't have quite enough of anything: not quite enough accuracy, not quite enough stability, not quite light enough, not quite powerful enough. But it's perfect on the Geth Engineer, because it's accurate enough to get a ton of headshots with Hunter Mode, and you can still spam Overload as quickly as you need to for taking out enemies. I actually top-scored in a Gold game with three other competent players (all using Level X Rares or URs) last night using this setup. You have the choice: Overload shielded enemies and take them out with gunfire, or drop their shields with gunfire and then take them out with fire explosions.
What's the most recent build/set up that you've discovered to be incredibly fun?

Play this exactly as you described miniditka!
A tsent with a geth pulse rifle, chain overloading all the fire explosions. But warp followed by incendiary cheese for bosses. Absolute beast.

Try it with a thermal scope and drill ammo for el-cheapo wallhax. Cloak and shoot the nasty things through a wall; very sneaky, very infiltrator-y.
That's how I like to run my QMI, actually.

Did have AP ammo though so that was fun. ![]()

Human engineer with a heavy barrel / power amp Executioner pistol.
Slow poke, I know, but god damn did I not expect this combo to be so good. Overload with the power amp is powerful enough to break any mook/elite mook shield in the game in one hit, pyros and phantoms included, and a shot from the executioner will kill the poor unshielded fella in one shot to the body for mooks and a headshot for pyros and hunters. I luvs it.
Not to mention it synergizes very well with the human engineer wombo combo- overload, fire, reload, cooldown's over, incinerate.
Only thing I'm still not sure about in regards to this setup is what ammo type to take. I tried incendiary, diruptors, AP and drill so far and while I liked disruptors the most (despite it sometimes messing with the overload/incinerate rhythm), all ammo types were equally effective.

This is one of my favorite builds on the game, period, and I usually use Drill ammo. I don't use Incendiary or Disruptor for the reasons you mention, and I feel like Drill or AP ammo syncs the best with the Executioner's innate penetration. Plus, the one weakness of the HE is when a Banshee puts up her bubble and takes away your power combos - having enough penetration to double-hit her when that happens is a good strategy.
Also, the HE/Executioner is the one build where I think the Power Efficiency Module actually makes sense. Unless you're fighting Geth, the Pistol Power Amp gives you all the Overload damage you need, and the cooldown time saved by using the Power Efficiency III actually makes it easier to make sure your fire explosions are detonating within the time window. So if you're looking to get rid of Power Efficiency Modules, this is the way to do it.

Try Cryo! It weakens armor, doubles your Incinerate damage, and won't interfere with your wombo combo

I tried that a little while ago. It hurt. Although with the right crew there could be a lot of giggles to be had.

I actually enjoy Cryo Ammo on the Salarian Engineer. ... Well, when playing Gold. Platinum is where the powers of mighty APIV always comes in extra handy. Or face the mockery of BSN video recordings.

I've pretty much settled on Cryo for my SE and it performs adequately. Of course this could depend largely on the weapon choice, I use the Lancer with full weapon damage/headshot passives and Cryo ammo boosting Incinerate is just a nice bonus against bosses. The cooldown is also fast enough that usually I can self-detonate Fire Explosions on Atlas/Prime etc. If I were to take a heavier Weapon then the increased Incinerate wouldn't come into play so much, and if I took a lighter weapon with a Power Amp then my headshot damage would suck. So far this is the most versatile SE build that I've played.
Probably an overlooked aspect is how fast the Freeze effect can apply to unshielded mooks. Instantly incapacitating them before they are actually dead can come in quite handy, as seen in the video below:

Actually not too bad of an idea. I tend to think Cryo works better with rapid-fire weapons though, because a high damage per shot weapon doesn't benefit much from armor weakening. Plus, the Executioner's damage is right on the border of where you can OSK a lot of different Gold mooks with a body shot (Marauders, Guardians, Cannibals, Captains, Collector Troopers, Hunters). Sometimes the extra ammo damage you get from AP or Drill III makes the difference between a OSK and having one bar of health left.
Obviously, I have used and thought about this build a lot, and there are a lot of damage thresholds that come into play for OSK'ing mooks and one-shotting their shields with Overload. It's most effective when it's specced perfectly around the damage thresholds for the difficulty you're playing.

I just unlocked the batarian sentinel and I got to say the armor is pretty cool. Its weird to want to take a hit but on silver at least it does solid damage to a brute. I have no idea how it scales into gold or platinum. I recently promoted so i'm re-leveling him. Not sure what the best build is, but the armor I went melee damage, the damage return, next level I can pick the level 6. 10% dmg reduction is nice, but reducing the recharge penalty by 30% seems kind of important. I think I'm going to focus the fitness on melee damage as well. But so far the class has been really fun to play. and I kind of like submission net, it works on a wide range of targets and does good damage even if slowly.
I'm thinking 6/6/6/0/6.But I do like adding weight capacity for the recharge speed. If I had better ultra light mods or ultra light for all weapons even it would seem less important. But with the recharge penalty with the armor its hard to pass on.

If you're going Cryo (and we all have way too much Cryo, except for 7twozero!) then try it on the Volus Merc, drop the drone, shoot to freeze the enemies, and walk away. I've played him with the Falcon that way, but I'm trying Striker next thanks to you
i tried the volus merc, but cant say i like it as much as i do the volus engineer. enemies ignore the decoy even if i deploy it from cloak. Its also really annoying that decoy only works within a small distance. enemies are also ignoring combat drone quite often especially bosses.

So much this. I keep trying to make CC pets, but they never seem to work for me, so I just use damage pets instead, why fail-to-distract when you can burn-half-their-armour?

The Drone works just fine for me and the decoy works for me as long as i don't get too close to the enemies.
They seem to draw more aggro if you take the shock evos, the only enemies that don't fall for it (based on my expierence) are Husks, Abombs, Crabs, Brutes, Banshees, Goons, Atlas, and Scions.
This is the build i use for the Volus Merc, awesome vs Geth coz the pets draw all the aggro, ![]()

That's how I keep trying to build Decoy and Drone. Neither seems to draw much aggro though, and the only CC I get out of it is if I dump it in a spawn and let the shock do its thing. Decoy seems to do absolutely nothing except let me check out another round ball of fun (Volus Love!), I don't think I have ever seen a Decoy get shot in my 800hrs.
