I posted this in a different thread but thought I'd share it here, with a few more details. I played some Volus Engineer last night, topping the scoreboard on Gold with this. It is also good for Platinum. This is a NO SHIELD BOOST Volus Engineer.
(VIEW BUILD)
The build is 100% tactically offensive. No defensive playing. If you are one of those PUGs who want to play a "team support" Volus, leave now.
The essence of the build is to combine these:
- Recon Mine rank 6B (scanned enemies take +25% damage ) Plus it slows enemies 30%
- Proximity Mine rank 5A (Enemies take +20% damage for 8 seconds) Plus it staggers
(That's 45% increased damage! Same as normal Tactical Cloak)
- Spec the above powers to have the fastest cooldowns, and put all "Volus Training" ranks into weight capacity to increase cooldowns.
- Equip Incendiary Ammo (this will prime enemies for fire explosions. Use Proximity Mine to detonate, which will get you +20% Damage to the enemy, a fire explosion, and a stagger)
- Incendiary also has damage stacking glitch and is excellent against armour.
- Use a Reegar Carbine to get the feel for the build first, and then try other weapons. Stripping shields fast is important.
- Use Cyclonic Modulators and get as much heath/shields as possible.
- Use Omni Capacitors to increase power cooldown and tech power.
- The idea is to spam the Proximity Mine, not the Recon Mine. Recon Mine is to get the damage buff and slowdown. I suggest only detonate it in emergencies or to re-position it.
Note: Volus can cloak even when hit by Swarmers. No infiltrator can do that.
Note: Volus can use its heavy melee "protective ball" to instantly revive some of its shields, when hit by Banshee balls, etc (so no need to worry about speccing shield boost). Also, heavy melee protective ball allows time for power cooldown.
If you're surrounded by enemies do the following: Heavy Melee > Proximity mine > Stagger Enemies > Cloak > Attack/Run
Use cover and corners. Don't be one of those stupid PUGs who try and go full commando in the open. You're a Volus, not a Krogan Warlord.
Have fun!
