This is a genre who's fans are primarily straight women:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yaoi

In Japan, the term "yaoi" continues to refer mainly to parody dōjinshi; among Western fans, however, "yaoi" is used as a generic term for female-oriented manga, anime, dating sims, novels and fan fiction works featuring idealized homosexual male relationships. The genre has spread beyond Japan, and both translated and original yaoi works are now available in many countries and languages.

A lot. A lot lot lot.

This too.  You'd be really surprised.

I'm actually surprised that Zevran did better than Alistair on that list, but it makes me happy, in a way.  :P

Zev is accessible to straight, bi and gay pc. While alistair is for fems only.

I'm indifferent to "f/f action" but in my experiences, women are much more likely to be open about "m/m action" and even find it attractive.

Confirming that there are people that are unaffected by the fact that he is bisexual.

Okay...and your point is...?

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but I'm a little puzzled.   If it's because you think that men are the overwhelming majority of gamers, then I think you're in for a surprise.

Yep PS4 players can call up any trophy listed by % on either the PS3 or PS4. These are from a week or 2 ago so may be a little off.

First Knight (Alistair) 8.4%
Witch Gone Wild (Morrigan) 24%
Easy Lover (Zevran) 10.1%
Wine Woman and Song (Leliana) 11.8%
Hopeless Romantic (all) 3.5%

Those are the achievements for sleeping with the companions. You can literally have sex with Morrigan during your first conversation at camp.

How many straight females talk about m/m action?

Lots.

And they can get as icky about it as some straight dudes do with f/f action. (They are brothers! Stop shipping them!)

But your claim was that most straight people (especially women) wouldn't go for the bi options. Do you think there are more gay guys playing DA:O on PS3 than straight women? Or at least nearly the same amount? It seems his stats suggest a lot of straight women were still interested in him.

I forgot about that, since I never did her romance.  Good point.  :)

But I can't say why more people aren't praising Sera.

Well, they'll be missing out.  I have loved me some Sera since day one and that hasn't changed except to be strengthened so far.  I've rarely gone into companion/advisor threads purely due to the lack of information we've had on characters, backgrounds, and such.  Sometimes I have nothing to contribute beyond hugging my monitor and going, "I wub you, fictional person I know little about but think I'll enjoy."

Spoiler

Basically.

Hint: It's a lot.  Slash fanfiction is mostly written by straight women.

My mom loves her Donkey Kong ha ha.

My mom used to be in a top tier raiding guild for WoW, back in 2007 (for reference for old school WoW fans: She was a part of a guild that beat Sunwell when it first came out.  That content was so tough, only 5% of the player base ever saw it when the content was relevant.)  She used to raid 5-6 times a week, even staying up as late as midnight to finish a raid and getting up at 430am for work.  She doesn't play WoW anymore, but she was in her 50s at the time.   ;)

You wouldn't believe the amount of times I've been told that I should stop playing games because of my age before, "Shouldn't you be married with kids or something?" wow... proper enrages me that does.

And the even funnier part is that according to those stats most of us are over 30 anyway, it's laughable.

Nobody is asking you to find M/M attractive. That would be silly: I don't find F/F or F/M attractive and I think I'm mostly not a bigot. The issue is that, if I've read your post correctly, your specifically have a problem with characters being bisexual, which strikes me as problematic. Bisexual people are just as capable as straight people of being loyal to their partners. You never have to think about a bisexual man with men if you don't want (just like you wouldn't have to think of your straight partners being with other women.)

Biphobia is a pretty real problem that most people are pretty dismissive about; I used to pretty regularly read a gay forum and it was disturbing to see how many people "Wouldn't want to date a bisexual". While I'm happy with "set sexualities" (I put that in quotes because I choose to believe that sexuality was set in DA2, they just all happened to be bi) I still find it disturbing that I feel like many of the complaints about DA2 come from this biphobic stance. I've argued with people who think that there was no way Fenris or Merrill could be bi because "it didn't make sense for them" like it did for more promiscuous characters.

If you have lots of gay and bisexual friends then you're probably a pretty open person when it comes to sexuality, and I'd encourage you to reevaluate why you're uncomfortable with the idea of a LI being bisexual.

I know it's ridiculous, there are nasty people out there who seem to believe that once you hit 30 your life ends.
