You haven't answered my implicit question   How are those two things in any way related? How do they even belong in the same scale?

If I had to guess, s/he's making a point about how if they keep on representing every sexuality/relationship type that people ask for, then when do they put their foot down and say "no, that's enough, it's gone too far."?

 

It is unfeasable for Bioware to represent everyone's sexual identity in game, as there are so many different types (as well as some completely unique ones) out there.

The difference is that pedophilia is inherently immoral. Representing pedophiles is not a priority, because pedophilia should not be encouraged. Polyamorous people, however, aren't immoral or unhealthy by virtue of being poly, and deserve to be represented just as much as any monogamous person, straight or otherwise.

As much as I'm all for being inclusive of all different types of relationships - I think you do have to remind yourself that Dragon Age is primarily an adventure/story-based RPG. Yes, the love story definitely adds to that experience, and I love that Bioware includes LGBT options (or hell, options for straight females, for that matter), there's a point where i feel like the things people are asking for here go into 'perhaps you should play a dating sim...' territory.  I really don't want to be rude, but while reading some of these posts about these complex variations on relationship types I had this image pop into my head....

 

*Our hero goes into a room, alone.  Locks the door.  Looks around surreptitiously before reaching for his armor.  Scene fades to black...*

 

Oh, don't mind me... My point was, where does it end?  I mean, as cool as it would be to see a realistic, healthy portrayal of, say, a D/s relationship, I would never expect Dragon age to actually go there.  A simple love story that adds to my interaction with an interesting character is quite satisfactory, thanks

 

Personally, I'd just like more of those little touches that make the relationship seem more real - something more than just a couple cheesy flirt lines and a makeout scene.  i.e., the Garrus romance with it's little 'date above the Presidium' scene or where your LI comforts you after your mother's death in DA2.

 

Also, better flirt lines.  Partly it was due to the voice actress I think, but pretty much everything that came out of FemHawke's mouth when I clicked that heart icon made me cringe a bit.

I wasn't talking about morality, just that there are so many sexual identities out there. They are innumerable.

There isn't an issue (at least, not with me.) It would be nice to see even more types of representation. I'm just saying, if Bioware keep adhering to these types of requests, then when do they put their foot down? When thing's become immoral (which is different for every person) When they can't feasibly add any more due to budget restrictions? When?

 

I agree with the post further up the page, people need to remember that these games are primarily epic fantasy, combat and exploration based rpg's and the romance content (while very nice) is optional content. Some of the requests on these boards do slip a little into "would you be happier with a dating sim?" territory.

Haha, any other reason?  I'd love to hear more about him, though I do have my doubts that he's a LI.

 

He seems really neat.  When Sheryl Chee admitted that "God's Gonna Cut You Down" is one of her songs for Blackwall, I got curious about his personality immediately.

I'm surprised the Cassandra question hasn't been answered yet, considering how up-front this character is in the marketing of this game. Anyway, I'm hoping that she's cleared up next, because I find her fascinating, but also because I'd just like that question to finally be done with.
