Haha, any other reason?  I'd love to hear more about him, though I do have my doubts that he's a LI.

 

He seems really neat.  When Sheryl Chee admitted that "God's Gonna Cut You Down" is one of her songs for Blackwall, I got curious about his personality immediately.

Well, I think a theme they're going for in this game is our hero's grown up. DAO was the young buck, DA2 was the awkward process of growing up, and DAI's going to be the result of that. We're going to be more sure of ourselves, more comfortable with who we are, more mature. I think Blackwall's a good representation of that.

That's a really good point, and I like that.  

 

 

I'm surprised the Cassandra question hasn't been answered yet, considering how up-front this character is in the marketing of this game. Anyway, I'm hoping that she's cleared up next, because I find her fascinating, but also because I'd just like that question to finally be done with.

I agree.  That and give Scribbles a name of course.

I suspect that "Scribbles" is going to end up as a meta joke in the game at this rate, as well as "Feathers" for Blackwall.

I'm afraid the "Scribbles" name may have popped up too late in the development cycle for it to make it into the game. We'll see, though.

The race gating is my reason as well. I think IB and Varric might be LI.
Though I think not expecting it to happen (or having little hope as you do) is better. It prevents further disappointment.

Yeah, I have damned near no hope.  What tempers it is that I just love him as a character and I get to travel with him again.  If I can't have a romance with him, then so be it.  I'll sigh, drool from afar, laugh at his jokes and welcome his return.

I agree that whoever the m/m exclusive option is (assuming there is one) will be announced at GaymerX, with some lame 'and there will be bisexual characters' statement added on.  I swear it feels like the game devs are just watching threads like this one while laughing sadistically at our expense.

Doubtful (that she changed from straight to bi). I think that some LI T changed their status after be year extension (because with the human protagonist I think there were supposed to be four bisexual LI). So either she remained bi, or they changed her to straight.

I don't think Varric is going to be included as a romance for some reason.  I know he has a large following and a bit of a demand to be an LI, but I just don't see it.  I also personally don't want him to be, just because I figure he'll take up a spot for an otherwise more interesting LI.  (I'm not big on past characters being LIs and wasn't keen on it with Anders either).  Although, I can't really think of any other characters who would be race gated than IB and Varric, so that's the only reason I'm thinking he may be included.  I can't see IB being the only character restricted on race.

I have a feeling due to the very strong response that both Allan and David have had on the idea of "fanservice" that they have not "changed" any sexualities in response to fan interest.
