Though I also don't understand why people always roll with the same squad. If you have nine companions why would you always stick with the same three? It just doesn't make sense to me from a story perspective to always have certain characters gathering dust and never being used. You also miss out on those characters banter with the rest of the team.

There is multiple reasons for that:

a) ignoring characters you don't like

b )only way to make a full warriors or rogues party (full mages party haven't been possible yet).

c) the morality party thing (I always run Alistair/Wynne/Leliana in DAO because they agree with everything I do!)

d) RPGing reasons

e) attachment to certain characters

From what I've heard, it's human, elf, and dwarf, with some hoping against hope that Qunari will also be available.  Voice over work is also available, so you're not controlling a mute hero like you did in DA:O.  If romances are the topic of this conversation, I do hope you have more options in DA:I than in 2 and Origins.  Really, you were slated to only Morrigan, Alistair, Leliana, and Zevran, but Leliana and Zevran were too easy - in more ways than one - and didn't really grant you any sort of reward in the end like becoming Queen Grey Warden or the payoff with Morrigan.  2 left you with Anders, Fenris, Merrill, and Isabela.  Really, the only one I found mildly interesting was Merrill since Isabela was hanging with anything, Anders ends up destroying everything in sight, and Fenris---I actually never played through with Fenris though it would be interesting to create a Blood Mage that romances Fenris.  See what he's got to say about the whole mage/templar thing then.  Just saying.

You're a little out of the loop, aren't you?

What I'm wondering is how he arrived in this thread first, of all the places on the forum he could possibly be.

Just to catch you up, Qunari were confirmed. They announced that DA:I will have the most romances in any dragon age game. There will also be different sexualities, gay, lesbian, Bi and straight. Sera is confirmed to be a lesbian, and Cullen and Cassandra will be options. many believe Iron Bull will be romanceable and Bi based on his Bio. it must be voiceover but there are 2 voices for each gender you can choose from.

You find the three you really like and use them, nothing wrong with that.

Those are my main reasons. I always have my LI in my party no matter what, and everything else is maximized for efficiency in battle. In Origins, this translates to my rogue Warden, Zevran (LI), Shale, and Wynne. In DA2, it depends on who I romanced at the time, but I've only done Nightmare difficulty on one playthrough (Fenris LI, with rogue Hawke, Aveline/Isabela (the latter works surprisingly well), and Anders), while the others mostly depended on who I liked the most. My very first playthrough was rogue Hawke, with Isabela (LI), Varric, and Anders - again, this was on Normal, I believe, so it was pretty easy. Anders was a permanent fixture because I never play mages.

I really dont think thats likely, even if there are a ton of other NPC romances that we haven't heard about yet.

Yeah. You and me both.

But a while back David Gaider essentially said he refused to ever do that. Apparently we are a "crowd he doesn't want to cater to".

Who knows we might get a female qunari LI in the next game.

Edit: Wait what? Um did David Gaider say why? Not that I'm saying they need to explain themselves about everything just the wording you used made it sound like it was borderline shaming people who would be interested in such a thing.

Always thought it was a little hypocritical of Bioware to design female qunari to be beautiful amazons and then condemn us for wanting to romance them.

I guess that was one perk for my non romanced Warden and Hawke. Flexibility in groups. Favorite group: Warden was ranged dps (archer), Shale tank, Dog/Og/Sten melee dps/Wynne healer. I don't like Wynne much, but she's useful.

Aveline and Varric were mainstays in DA2.. I just mixed the rest up.

Where did Gaider say that he would never do a female qunari romance?

I don't know that he said he'd never do it, but I've seen posts on the old bsn where he said he wasn't going to put in a female qunari romance just to cater to the part of the fan base that "fetishize"(his word) them.

Which, in and of itself, is fine.

Yeah, I don't see a problem with this.

He's misrepresenting what David said. David doesn't want to cater to people whose only interest in qunari is as fetish fuel.

I can understand being weary of that. Especially if the world and inhabitants is your creation.. then you'd be a bit protective of it. Like a baby :P Things have to be treated with a better story than mere fetish appeasement.

I don't know; it's been a long while, so I'm probably misremembering things, and if I'm not, I was probably imagining them in the first place, but there did seem to be just a general tone of condemnation for the concept. Like he was lumping everyone who wanted a female qunari romance into the "fetishist" camp.

Like I said, probably bad memory or an imagined slight.

Well that makes more sense then, though I'm sure not everyone whose interested in a qunari romance is interested them as fetish fuel.

Uh... I don't see why female qunari would be fetishized any more than female elves, or female dwarves, or even female humans. Women are fetishized and objectified period. Why pay special attention to qunari-lovers?

Maybe because they weren't asking for a female qunari character itself. And exploring it's many facets. It just went straight to romance talk.

That's just my guess. I don't know.
