Is this about her face? Because the face will be likely customizable in a way that you can great an attractive (for you) face.

Partially her face, but also her build.

I'll definitely open the character creator and see if I can make a female qunari to my liking, right now I'm just not optimistic about it.

See...I don't get what's so weak about that female Qunari in the picture. She looks lofty, arrogant and like she's turning her nose up at someone. I don't see weakness.

I meant the contrast of their bodies the artist chose to show. He's buff and tall and frightening, she's not at all.

Yup, a lack of armour isn't unprecedented, even in RL. I'm not sure why it's such a big deal.

Again, the way female qunari are designed is not actually practical or realistic.

I actually kind of like her build. I'd like her breasts to be bigger because that's just my preference but I can work with it.

I have to admit that little sway she does when she walked won me over. A bit of femininity that wasn't over the top.

How is that a weak body? The male is just massive in comparison.

You don't have to be a walking house to be strong.

But I'm the one who would actually prefer the males be toned down to match the female concept art if anything so *shrug*.

The person is seen as an object of lust. That's dehumanizing.

I disagree. Wanting someone can mean a lot of things depending on the context. I'd say it can actually be empowering to the person you lust after. Said person gets to decide whether you get what you want or not, after all.

I would only consider it dehumanizing if the character in question has no development to speak of and/or if agency was taken from said character.

I wasn't talking about the female Qunari. I was talking about Qunari in general.

Honestly it wouldn't bother me if both sexes were completely naked from the waist up.

Too be perfectly fair, female qunari aren't warriors in their society; there's no reason they should look like warriors.

The woman in the pic is an administrator, not a warrior.

Also, I doubt even standard male warriors ever were that muscular.

Look, this is the official concept art.

Now, i dont agree with making the Qunari Lady in that comic wear something that revealing, but the fact remains, she looks like what she is supposed to look like in terms of build.

I know, but it's key to remember that often women are not designed with the same goals in mind as men, especially if the artist in question is a straight man himself. It would be awesome if we could have half-naked warrior women around who are treated like their spear counterparts, but it's pretty much never happened, and this comic is no exception.

All the concept art has them stripped down in clothing (humans, dwarves, etc). It's just to get a view of the general build and such.

Wait.  So wanting to romance a Qunari or a dwarf is odd and fetishistic...but elves are A-OK?

I don't know who started that topic, but I will say I'm not following you on that one.

Correct.

Its meant to show how each race is built.

Thats what a female qunari is built like.

Im not saying they should all appear in their underwear, im just saying that this is what a female qunari officially looks like.

I've also argued that the sexual dimorphosism seen in the qunari isn't really more extreme than what we see in real world humans.

Look at male MMA fighters and female MMA fighters, or male professional wrestlers and female professional wrestlers(that one's trickier as you have to pick out the actual wrestlers as opposed to the glamour models; look to the indies). These are people who build up real muscle, real functional strength, and real endurance. The men will still typically dwarf the women.

The top still isn't practical, regardless of the climate. Her breasts are not supported in any way. The point is, the sexualization of female characters, when you contrast them with men in similar positions, isn't actually realistic, because the designs themselves are not realistic. Many real life natives living in tropical climates walk around topless, regardless of the presence of breasts. Even then, there are more practical garments that don't involve copious underboob at all.

Female athletes aren't skinny though - their muscle looks like fat. Female qunari, both in the concept art and the comic, are built like supermodels, not athletes.

I agree, but they won't have female qunari walk around topless. And I think the same bra other races use would look weirdly inconsistent in said climate.

Since when is concept art 'official'?
Surely the 'official' female Qunari build is whatever is used in DAI (which we've not gotten a good look at yet)?

Well, it also completely depends on what type of exercise you are doing, and what type of muscle is needed for their particular sport.

Which is a fair point, but the qunari female in the comics(and presumably the qunari female in the concept art) aren't warriors.

From what little we've seen of the fem-qun-quisitor, she looks substantially more burly than either of them, though that might just be the armor.

I'm mostly talking about the concept art, which presumably represents what a female qunari PC would look like by default. I mean, even saarebas are beefy to the max - you'd think the same would apply to female qunari.
