No, dwarf PC definitely have access to romances from other races.
This pleases me.
Now quickly! Is Iron Bull romancable?

Sources, please. Data data data, we can not make conclusions without data any more than we can make bricks without clay...
I have as much data data data as you do when you assume this would be the case.
I prefer pessimism. Optimism got me Mass Effect 3.
Though i feel slightly better after Mr. Schumacher's statement.
Thanks AllanNo, dwarf PC definitely have access to romances from other races.
Assuming the worst is a reasonable approach (for me), but Gaider never said that some combo won't get romances. He said they'd get less.See, THIS is the information i want to hear.
Obviously i want to know more, (such as which races, what genders, orientations, and how many)but NDAs and marketing and all that.
Thank you.
Im guessing some people now regret complaining so much about the DA2 all bi romance approach & asking for more "realistic" set sexualities, seems Inquisition is giving people what they demanded just not in the way they individually wanted.
I never demanded any of that, so I got screwed by said whining.
Ahaha. Well, you guys can be pretty ridiculous, but only in a good way
. (I mean, you're giving us a weaponised jar of bees!)
You're probably right, I am being uncharitable in the hope that I'll be proven wrong and therefore pleasantly suprised. Honestly I think some of this would be alleviated by simply knowing how many romances we're getting total, because until yesterday I was absolutely convinced it was six (2/2/2) and obviously even one racegating romance put in place in that scenario would cut at least one straight/gay option for some races down to one. I guess it's got to be eight?
Add in the fact that I'm guaranteed to be playing the less popular races and yeah, I'm wary, perhaps unjustly. You're right in they've said they want all players to have a choice, but that haven't said that they want all Inquisitors to have a choice, and that to me is a rather large distinction. Players can have nearly no choice on one race and choose to switch without having to change their gender/orientation (which are the real life points of contention that Bioware is rightly focusing on giving balance to).
As I said, quite prepared to be pleasantly suprised. But bracing myself for the possibility of a no-romance first run.
This pleases me.

Recent info says Iron Bull will sleep with anyone who he's sure won't break so I'm guessing he will be romancable.

Oghren would sleep with anyone without a Y chromozone; he wasn't a romance option.
We're actually getting a jar of bees?! xD
When the magazine article said this, many assumed it was a joke that the journalist had misinterpreted. But apparently it is a real thing that they are really doing!
The jar of bees is probably not a romance, though.
Wait. That wording is weird Allan. Does that mean dwarves won't have any restrictions?

Bet it's going to be gated too. Everything else seems to be.
I don't think so. He said they have access to non dwarf romances. That doesn't mean they have access to all of them.

There was even that brief moment when he considered Zeveran.

Or at least a fling. I can see this being a "race gate" and a fairly reasonable one. If your elven mage looks like they could be knocked over by a light breeze, IB is perhaps not the best romantic partner for them.
We would also have a lot less romance option in the game.
You know, I wonder if this is part of the divide here.
Some people are interested in playing all of the races, both of the genders, and any sexuality. For those people, race-gating is perfectly fine because it allows replay value and more romances.
Other people are not interested in playing all of the races, both of the gender, and any sexuality. For those people, race-gating doesn't add any replay value or more romances.
Think of it this way: If there were four bisexual characters with no race restrictions, then straight men and women and gay men and women all have two romances (or the same amount of options regardless of race). If there were eight characters, but each race/gender/sexuality combination is gated from all but two characters, then everyone still has only two options. In this situation, a person who isn't interested in roleplaying all of the combinations loses out a bit because there are some LI's that they don't have access to. For me, I'd rather experience all of the romances, but don't want to play the different genders and sexualities. DA 2 worked better for me.
I think that this is why there is such a divide here. Neither side is right; it's just that one way serves one group better and the other way serves the other group better. DA: O and DA: I serves a different group in this respect and DA 2 served the other. The pendulum swings back and forth are part of the issues, I think as each group gets disappointed after being happy in the last game.
I don't think so. He said they have access to non dwarf romances. That doesn't mean they have access to all of them.
Yep, for all we know Dwarves could have access to all races but qunari
No, dwarf PC definitely have access to romances from other races.
Thank you for the confirmation on this Allan. It goes a long way to settle this staunch dwarf fan's concerns! ![]()

Maybe Iron Bull isn't restricted at all.
There was even that brief moment when he considered Zeveran.
Don't forget Anders in awakening also,
Bet it's going to be gated too. Everything else seems to be.
Romancing the jar of bees would be painful though.
Wait. That wording is weird Allan. Does that mean dwarves won't have any restrictions?
All right, I think people are starting to think that the word restriction means "This character will romance exclusively this race and nothing else." That needn't be the case.
I also think some people are thinking that "This means race X can only romance other people of the same race!" Which also doesn't have to be the case.
There's 4 races the player character can be. If all the romances are available to all races with the exception of 1, then "race restrictions exist" is still true.
Of the shown characters, Varric is a dwarf. We're not going to say "The only option for dwarf PCs is Varric" (there's no guarantee that Varric is even a romance option). So unless we were having no romances for dwarves (we aren't), then I think there's a pretty decent chance that there will be non-dwarf NPCs that have no problem hooking up with a dwarf inquisitor, just by playing the odds.
No, dwarf PC definitely have access to romances from other races.
You have no idea how happy you made me just now. Thank you so much for this wonderful information and helping to put my paranoid mind at ease. If I was not dirt poor I'd send you guys cookies or cupcakes or something.
Varric or Dagna?Non dwarf romances.
My hopes...
