I like complicated endings too, I just... I dunno, I just wanna see my Inquisitor and their LI chilling together or something after the end.

I have reservations, though, about sharing too much about what the player character does after the end of the game since it poses risks to player agency.
I think it needs to be handled carefully.
But at the same time, saying "And then X disappeared, never to be seen again" doesn't say much for agency either ![]()

Pretty much this.
I think the result of the romances were left to the realm of headcanon.

Watch the LIs get the Leliana treatment where they're involved in the plot-or maybe even showing up for a cameo-and Hawke has magically disappeared without them.
Wait, have I been the only one assuming that this is what's going to happen? I mean, why else would Hawke have disappeared from being Viscount? I fully expect to run into a ticked-off Anders who is torn between his duty to the mages and the crushing desire to go find Hawke.
So, yeah. I wouldn't mind if some of the DAI romances ended on a hopeful note.

I rather like how DA2 ended, at least for the pro-mage ending. For a few years, it let my imagination run wild with what Anders and Hawke were doing. I fully expected DAI to Joss my personal epilogue, but, for a little bit, I could imagine that they were happy (as they could be, living in a forest and leading mages in glorious revolution). (So, my Hawke would be ecstatic.
)
It kinda puts me in the shoes of Varric, who can only guess where they've gone, except that they've gone together. I wonder how he's going to react when (if) the Inquisitor finds Hawke's LI, alone.

There's nothing perfect, but at the same time that does allow for more versatility than, say "The Hero of Ferelden returned to Denerim to become a captain of the guard" or some such thing.
Of course, we could allow for some level of agency (at least on a grand scale) in an epilogue too.

Woah, now I really want to know how Varric will react to running into Hawke's companions.
I really hope we get to see what's happened to more of the companions, both from Origins and 2. I wanna see what Shale and Aveline are up to.

I'd love if at some point in the game, you hear a bunch of people talking about "Hawke," how "Hawke" is off doing such and such (and maybe Cassandra gets more and more anxious that she's actually meeting the Champion). And when you finally meet them, Varric just runs out and yells "Junior!" or "Sunshine!"

maker's breath, the anime hair
Heh. I remember taking Morrigan to the village of Haven and her commenting at a sacrificial alter that "No one can lose this much blood and live." My exact response was a snarky "Pssh! Clearly you've never met an anime character." ![]()

This.
Drop what you're doing, Bioware, this happens now.
Actually, I was wondering how Bethany and Carver would be presented, since their appearance varies based on Hawke. Maybe Carver's in full platemail, and we meet Bethany somewhere cold, and she's masked and gloved?
More on topic, I would like to see what the old romances are up to. Morrigan I know we'll meet, but how's having a mage/dwarf/elf mistress effecting Alistiar? Or having his queen go missing? Does Zevran know where the warden went? Did Sebastian marry Hawke?

Well according to Sasha Braus, there is no mention of Sebastian staying with Hawke at the end of DA2 like there is the other LIs so my guess would be no he did not you two never even got to hold hands cause thats just how chantry boy rolls

Someone told me it was cut, which is interesting. I suspect it means that Sebastian went back to reclaim his throne and Hawke went...whatever it is she's doing.

Thus leaving Sebastian as the most distant and unloving LI in DA2 ![]()

I hate the "And they were never seen again" thing. The kotors still irritate me when it comes to that.
I imagine that if they were to include a Hawke sighting they'd just use the defaults if they didn't have a way for you to give information about how they looked in your game. It would be neat to see some of the people from previous games again.

Why, specifically, do you want to romance a Qunari? Would it still be satisfying if we made a Qunari love interest but it happened that you weren't particularly attracted to the character model we happened to use for that particular Qunari?
For the first part, personally speaking, I find Qunari to be very attractive. And in turn, I pose this question: is that really any more strange than someone finding an elf attractive?
As for the second point...Qunari, dwarf...human, elf, or whatever...you're always taking a risk that people won't like a given character model for a LI. If there was a Qunari LI that I didn't for some reason find appealing, I simply wouldn't romance him or her, but I would be grateful for the option nonetheless.
And as an aside, I don't understand what the big deal is. I honestly don't. ME gave us quite a variety of races for LIs, a few of which only had one option (Garrus, Tali, Thane). I don't recall much bellyaching over it at all.

Yeah, when he didn't show up when Leandra died I thought maybe I hadn't done the romance correctly. Then he doesn't get a proper final romantic option and doesn't stick beside you (Fenris did that even after I killed him for siding with the templars!). Which is a shame because I do enjoy his party banter, it just shows terribly that he's a DLC character.
The worst part? Anders telling me to get it over with so he can hurry up and be famous.

I think it's more likely they'll be masked in some way. As I suggested with Bethany, maybe we meet them some place cold?
I'm less interested in seeing them and more interested in seeing what's going on with their LIs.

I'm not at all moved by Iron Bull's appearance, but if he's available I still plan to romance him. Why? Because he's a qunari. I can only romance qunari in Dragon Age.
A well-written character can cover up an unappealing model.
...I'm starting to wonder if Iron Bull is in face not a LI, or if they're just messing with us.

I found Sebastian to be a little bland personally but that could be because I had grown used to constantly having Isabela and Varric on my team so he wasn't as colorful as them, loved the missions that came with him and loved that accent and some parts of his personality but when he didn't show up after Leandra died for a Hawke that was romancing him made me a tiny bit mad even if it was the fact that he's a DLC character which does show quite a bit. Still something is wrong with an LI if they're making Anders look better in comparison at least Anders showed up when Hawkes mother died and freaked out even more when you fell in battle. (yeah Sebastian has nothing to say when Hawke falls unlike every other companion)
Seeing the LIs might be interesting if they pull it off right though I"m not sure how they would handle explaining why they're there and where Hawke is and why Hawke isn't there with them, I guess they could always say it didn't work out and they took their own paths buuuuuut I have a feeling that would leave a lot of people unhappy, though I'm semi curious myself more so about my Hawkes that were with Merrill and Isabela.

Wouldn't be surprised if he actually isn't I'd be disappointed since so far he sounds awesome to me but not surprised. I'm just hoping they break out of their norm a little bit (appearance wise at least since the personalities are pretty different for each DA LI) though if we're getting 2/2/2 or 2/4/2 or something like that then they're going to have to I suppose.

I've never rolled a female Hawke, but in my game, Sebastian was plenty interested in Bethany. And not in a chantry boy way either.

Varric and a qunari are, if I'm not mistaken, something that's been requested for a long time. I understand them not wanting to compromise their vision, but good business is responding to the fans.
Within reason. If we, the fans, decided DA4 should just be Anders lecturing about the mage's plight for 150+ hours, that would be bad.
Surely there is a middle ground?
