Schadenfreude is part of the English language now, just like beret, Schnitzel and pasta. We stole it because we have no equivalent. In English, people will use any noun as a verb or adjective. Just be grateful he didn't write shadenfreude-y, or schadenfreude-ful.

In my 2nd playthrough of the series, my Origins character was a Dalsih Elf. With my 2nd Hawke, I ended up killing the entire clan for trying to defend Merill. I'm not sure how my Warden is going to like that. He already had to kill Tamlen. Oh boy.

I'm not arguing that spirits are safe and demons are not they all can be dangerous. In DAA I was expecting Justice to turn on me at some point in the game. And when I brought Merrill into the deep roads with me she did say I could trust it, never took her to the Fade so I don't know about what she says about Torpor, I like Merrill a lot I just think she has poor judgement though so did a lot of our followers in DA2, I also don't recall her attacking the demon in the deep roads unless you told her too before making the deal with it.

If Flemeth says you're being dumb, you're probably doing something wrong.

I would like to hear from anyone interested in romancing the men, who your favourite is and what it is about them you like (from what little we know). At this point, I don't know what to think. I was really glad to have m/m options in DA:O and DA2 but I wasn't sold on Zevran (too slimey), Anders (plays with kittens and needs to wash his greasy hair when he's not busy murdering sweet old lady priests) OR Fenris (loved the voice, but why so broody Fen?).

Speaking for myself it's hard to say. We don't know that much about the men we can romance in DAO yet. The only guy we know we can romance is Cullen, who I'm just kinda neutral about. The rest we don't know too much about aside from Varric and we don't know which ones are romances. I need more info before I can form a judgment (Honestly I probably won't have my mind well and truly made up until about the third time I play the game.)

It's not like we don't rape the English tongue just as much. Storys is officially (it's in the Duden vocabulary) the plural for Story...

From the trailer we've seen female Qnari look awesome Iron Bull on the other hand looks like Hulk dressed up like a pirate. With Sera being lesbian only I hope she isn't restricted to human/elf.

Not a fan of Vivienne and Cassandra, but that might change if I see Vivienne in something else than that Maleficient helmet.

On another note I'd be interested how origin tampering works with DA:I. For instance DA2 accepted my Warden (Stephen Amell, couldn't resist) as a Human Mage, who romanced Morrigan, Leliana and married the Queen to become Prince-Consort but went with Morrigan in Witch Hunt.

I didn't think Merrill was wrong to pursue the restoration of the Eluvian, and Hawke's criticism (to me) rings a bit shallow to me when the character doesn't know anything about the plight of the People, or about their history and technology; it's not like the main character isn't willing to do something dangerous for a specific goal (the expedition into the Deep Roads, as a prime example, which was about hoping to find a fortune in a dangerous terrain filled with darkspawn). And it doesn't come to fruition because her research into the lore and the information that she had extrapolated from the shard produced an inert Eluvian, but I respect her for trying to help her people.

Yeah...but neither did Merrill. She was actively trying to repair an artifact that killed/corrupted two of her clansmen using a forbidden magic that people are very right to be afraid of. Her own mentor exiled her from the clan because of the danger she was putting everyone around her in. >_>

I'm not sure I care too much at this point, just glad that we're finally getting a long-awaited gay male companion, whether he is Dorian, Solas, or Blackwall. They all seem equally fascinating to me.

As far as we know there's still one companion to be revealed personally I'd like for it to be either Carver or Bethany. I could see my Inquisitor romancing her.

Actually, Merrill studied the lore on the Eluvian, and she gathered information from the shard she took from Ferelden. In the narrative of Kirkwall, she was the most informed. Cleansing the shard also removed the danger that the taint posed.

And you seem to be addressing what Marethari used as a means of coercing Merrill to return to the Sabrae Clan, as she says she told the clan that Merrill would bring back the taint and then uses it to try to convince her to return to the clan as a consequence in the very same sentence.

Err... sorry to be a witless noob but how do I quote just part of what someone said?

Iron Bull looks like a BAMF in the concept art but he seems to be getting more and more grizzly each time I see him. I don't want to really date an Arishok clone.

You quote the whole thing then delete the parts you don't want.

Hit "quote" on the post you want to quote and manually erase the stuff you don't want to include in your quote.

To be fair Marethari basically asks Hawke to try and stop her/talk her out of it a few times and I am willing to be she knows more than Merril does.

Actually, Marethari explicitly says in front of Hawke that she doesn't think the Eluvian should be researched or rebuilt. and that it should stay buried. Therefore, I'm willing to put my trust in the person who actually researched the Eluvian, over the person who apparently didn't.

Well, since we only know Cullen right now, I know I'm going to have at least one playthrough where he's my PC's LI.  I like the evolution of his character so far, how he went from being tortured and hell bent on killing the mages to siding against Meredith.  For a character who hasn't had that much screen time, I like what I've seen (even though I'm not big on Templars period).  Dorian seems interesting, so I'm hoping he will be bi so I don't have to roll a male Inquisitor to see that romance.  I have no interest in Varric, I'm fairly certain that Cole won't be an option (wouldn't touch him if he was, either), and know next to nothing about Solas.  The Warden seems meh to me for romance and IB seems like it could be interesting.

Let's drop the Merrill discussion unless it is about her romance please.

That's right...so it's pretty easy to RP as one.  It's something you might not ever bring up to anyone, even companions.

I liked that Feynriel and Danarius had at least a slight appearance of being elf-blooded, it never made sense to me that half-elves looked completely human.

It would be super cool if one of the presets in the character creator for DA:I for both male and female humans had an elf-blooded looking head.  I'm not expecting it, but it would be neat.

When I click on quote, no quote appears in my text box to edit. Like I am now apparently "replying directly" to JobacNoor's post (I clicked on "quote" in the bottom left corner of the post) and all I see is my text.. Something is afoot.

Lore wise, they are supposed to look human. The developers say the children of elves and humans are technically human.

To be fair though would you want someone rebuilding something that killed one or two people you considered family? Especially if they were mysterious deaths that left no bodies?

Weren't they made with the regular human modeling? Sometimes regular humans can have slightly pointier ears.

Sorry I'll stop helping derail.

Anyone have any idea how the race gates are going to work? Do you think every LI would have them or just one or two? I see a lot of people thinking that the Bi LIs will be race gated.

Cacked lately had a rather entertaining article about how the English language SHOULD work.
