I was talking about Hawke's (and everyone else's) right to criticize her. She was using blood magic to restore a mirror that she knew was dangerous and that her own keeper advised against, strongly.

Blood magic was used to cleanse the shard, not in the construction of the Eluvian.

I don't see why assuming she knows what she is doing because she has apparently done more "research" is a reasonable position to take and as it turns out it wasn't.

Because Marethari released Audacity? I'm never going to agree about that. You can create a separate thread if you want to continue this, since it's been addressed previously as off-topic for the romance thread.

Oh man we're still doing the rival Hawke is a big abusive jerk towards Merrill thing? *sigh*

I hope the devs don't shy away from having the PC or his/her companions question each others actions. It adds authenticity instead of yes man behavior.

Again! I was only talking about Hawkes perspective and not about who was actually right and wrong. It's perfectly reasonable for Hawke to trust Marithari over Merril and be wary of her blood magic and relaxed attitude towards demons. Anyway, I have no wish to derail this thread so I will drop it.

Dorian does look handsome and interesting but although the moustache is EPIC, I'm not sure  my Inquisitor would want to kiss it. I just hope he is, as you say, classy rather that OTT flamboyant. There's nothing wrong with flamboyant but the stereotype is sooo old. Anyone could win me over, except Varric who had his chance in DA2 to impress me. He's a cool guy but maybe a bit too cool for school if you know what I mean. If he were a real live person, he'd be well aware of how much people love him and he'd love that they do. He's like the dwarf Fonzie.

Give me a Kaidan or an Alistair or a Steve please... or a Gay Vega. Now THAT I could get behind. ;)

I think Dorian might be the first and only DA LI option (if he is one *hedge hedge*) that I have actually looked at and gone "OOoOoOoOOoOooo".

Blondes aren't my thing (sorry Ali, Anders, Zev, and Fenris... though ILUVU all). Dorian is the first dark skinned, dark eyed, MAN Dragon Age has had. Too pretty not to be bi (so everyone can love him). Like Kaidan. >:3

..this looks like she's working directly for us and checking out areas to see if they're safe. (Or building the things we use to make 'em safe)

Artificer does sound like a significant title doesn't it? Kind of like how we refer to all our engineers in the Normandy as Engineer X. Maybe I'm just getting my hopes up and seeing things that aren't there because I really want more Dagna.

Based on the little bit of Demo footage we've seen Dorian doesn't strike me as terribly flamboyant. Passionate, perhaps, but he seemed more elegant than OTT and flashy.

It would be very nice to see if you and your LI don't agree that one of you doesn't have to kiss the others bum and pretend that you agree all the time, I would like the opportunity to debate or discuss things that my LI and I don't see eye to eye on, even if we still disagree it would be nice to at least have a chance to point out your side to them instead of going 'well you're an idiot and wrong' or 'I completely agree with everything you say love'.

And while I like both Hawke siblings, getting to know Carver, and gaining his respect, was one of my favorite parts of DA2.  Maybe it's because I have two brothers, but it was very rewarding to me to have him on my side at the end of the game, both as a Grey Warden and Templar.  I think it's unlikely that we'll see Bethany or Carver again, but that would be awesome, even as a cameo.

I have no brothers, and Carver ended up having some sort of video game brother-I-never-had appeal.

Maybe a bit awkward, but the relationship dynamic between him and Hawke was the highlight of DA2 for me. He was an ass in all the right ways, but he still cared about and supported his family (and even grew to understand and respect his sibling on the amazing friendship path). Even later playthroughs, one of the few moments that still had real emotional impact for me was the conversation after Legacy (post All That Remains). It's just perfect. (And then Carver was gone again for most of the rest of the playthrough, and I sort of had to force myself to keep playing.)

I'm kind of glad that it's unlikely he'd ever have a large role again, simply because it would be really difficult for me to not react to him as a sibling, but maybe there will be a brief cameo as you say (though I'm not sure how they would treat Templar Carver—he seems more confined to Kirkwall than when he joins the Grey Wardens, and that story is concluded); I'd definitely like to at least know how he's doing. (Come to think, I seem to remember that his name possibly showed up as part of a quest objective in a leaked video or press screenshot in the last year or two.)

I was wondering how this is pronounced. Totally off topic but I always find myself curious on pronunciation of other language since I had to learn pronunciation growing up (I had a really bad Japanese accent when I spoke English -scoffs-) . I need to know how to pronounce every new word I see. It's been driving me crazy not knowing this one

I'll give it a go - It's SHAH-den-froy-duh. The first part rhymes with "garden" (if you're English or Australian/NZ or from Queens, NYC... Gaahden!)

I think the person meant Gaspard, Celene's political rival. Gascard also wasn't looking for his sister; that was just a story he told to cover up what he was really trying to do. The truth is that he was Quentin's apprentice. He can change, if Hawke is diplomatic or aggressive enough.

I know nothing...

I imagine a Dalish protagonist might disagree quite a bit with companions and the members of the organization, since the Inquisition seems to be comprised of a plethora of Cassandra's people, given the inclusion of Chantry members like Leliana and Cullen. I'm hoping that the elven cultural perspective isn't diluted simply because of the dominant Andrastian cast, and hopefully it's even reflected in possible romances with others.

As in DuPuis? The guy trying to solve the case of the disappearing women by abducting and abusing his sister while using blood magic that I mistakenly killed before finding out he was innocent? Huh?

HAH! No, I meant Gaspard? Stupid Orlesian names.

((although seriously... one letter off, what were they thinking?))

As long as Sera is available to human females I will be happy, and when they confirmed her they said female only, not female elf only so I am hoping that's a sign she will be available to every race (especially since she is The Wildcard as they called her) I would be interested in pairing her with a Qunari female also. I have to admit the female qunari are actually quite attractive.

I thought about adding "if you'll excuse the pun" but if you have to point it out then well... Vega is a secret power bottom. I'm sure of it.

Can I say that here???

Agreed. Same with the Qunari PC honestly. I want to see some push and pull on both the PC and the companion's ends.

YES DAO went too far in the kiss companion's bum for decent conversation while DA2 went too far in the completely dislike each other yet they're still telling you their life story direction. Something in the middle would be swell.

And yes being able to explain my PC's actions instead of just the "you did that cause you're mean!" would be much appreciated. Even if the companion refuses to accept it just having my PC being able to explain where he/she was coming from would be fantastic.

Man, being mean to Carver is still one of my favorite things about mage runthroughs of DA2.

I loved the different tones the romances had based on whether you were friends or rivals in DA2.  Seeing more of that in video games would make me very happy.

I'm curious to learn more about the racial backgrounds for the Dwarven and Tal-Vashoth options, since I think it would logically play a role in how the player might react to Cassandra, the pseudo-Chantry makeup of the flegling organization, the companions, and the romance options. Will a Tal-Vashoth have to deal with the Qunari stigma from the soldiers and a potential love interest, or will a dwarven main character have any reservations about falling for someone who doesn't believe in the Ancestors, or for a life on the surface if the character has aspirations to return to the Great Thaig? I'm hoping these areas are fleshed out.

I don't usually play women but the Qunari woman looks too cool not to. When I do though she will also be gay and trying it with Cass if that's an option. The only thing is, I'm not sure I can imagine her with Samantha Traynor's voice (even though I love Alix Wilton Regan) and I'm not sure I'd want her to be American either but I haven't heard that voice yet.

Also, is anyone else worried about hearing Gamlen, when the male Inquisitor speaks?

Hopefully that's the case. I believe the devs said a certain quest was going to be much harderr as a Qunari PC. But I thought the dwarf PC was already a surfacer to begin with?

I'm sure a dalish PC will probably have reservations about starting a romance with a human companion as well...

Awesome! Thank you :)

Edit: Oooh that has me a little worried, I like knowing where I stand with my companions but I suppose as long as they make it clear to you if they're ticked off at something you do or not then I'll be okay but something like this is not good for someone like me who wants to be everyone's friend >> though I can see why some people would prefer this I'm just not one of them.

Oooh reading that has me hopeful that maybe the romance will auto shutdown if you pick certain choices? And not just "you have to pick X amount of choices they disagree with" factor.

Though I would like an approval bar simply so I know where I stand if I leave the game for a while and come back to it. I hate being completely "Uh...what was I doing?" in JRPGs before I eventually throw my hands up and restart.

About a Dwarven Inquisitor, I have no idea. It's why I tend to focus more on a hypothetical Dalish than the Dwarven or Tal-Vashoth, as I haven't heard much about the backgrounds.

I thought the British voice for the male Inquisitor was already spoken on the Inquisitor trailer?
