"Malien" was a term used a lot before the release of ME2, principally by people in the Thane thread begging for just that as a romance option.  I don't dislike Kaidan.  He just never did much for me in the romance department.  I've never really thought of Garrus as an especially high quality LI in the writing department.  The best male LI that Bioware has done in my opinion is Alistair.

Saemus and Ashaad.  Saemus is confirmed as gay.  The love/relationship is implied, at least from Saemus' side.  But there's no confirmation that their relationship was a sexual one.

When was Saemus (the only person in in both the real world and fantasy world that doesn't spell it SEAMUS) confirmed as gay?

Hey now, this party doesn't start until I get here!

True, true. I'm sorry we brought out the gorillas and hyenas without you.

Next time this comes around, we need new animals. I think we already talked about ducks in some previous iteration. (Duck mating: surprisingly horrifying!)

I don't have the link ready, but Gaider listed him in a list of "gay people in Thedas".

I liked Thane a lot. Again that voice. I romanced him once as a femshep and it annoyed the hell out of me I couldn't with my mshep but then... Kepral's syndrome. I feel sorry for the women who romanced Jacob or Thane in their cannon playthroughs. I think straight women got a pretty raw deal come ME3. It was basically Kaidan or Garrus and only Garrus if you romanced him in ME2. They should have at least given you guys Vega (Citadel doesn't count).

I loved Alistair, I always had him in my party, always had maxed out friendship with him and when I switched to his character he would always say "My love?", even though I was a male warden. I'm not happy I couldn't choose him over Zev.

Here is the quote from Gaider:

It's not something that comes up because it's private-- and also because there are no terms that exist in that era. In our own history, the need to study and categorize sexuality didn't come about until the late 19th century... prior to that, it wasn't even a concept. The act was considered far more relevant than the impulse. So when it comes up outside of the player's personal experience, it's going to be either vague or implied (such as Wade & Herren, Branka & Hespith or the Viscount's son).

True Facts are a parody on documentaries. There's nothing really bad in them.

Even if Iron Bull is well-endowed, aren't dwarves more physically compatible than elves? They have larger hips, whereas elves are pretty skinny.

It has less to do with height, and more to do with width.

Whenever people bring that up I'm am surprised and disappointed that no one brings up kangaroos or snakes. Oh well maybe some day I'll get to that type of off topicness in time to drop it in there.

kind of strange that he uses a real world situation from Europe that emerged from judeo-christian concepts (sodomy) to justify why in Thedas they don't have visibility or words. In my culture, prior to colonization we did not have 1800s psychoanalytic terms either (homosexual) but we still had words. lots of them. And such individuals were visible and open. So, to me, it sounds like justifying the situation in Thedas with a system they've said repeatedly is not applicable (Thedas is not supposed to accurately reflect Europe and Thedas is supposed to have different ideas of sexuality). Sigh. I give up.

Does anyone know the penis measurements for Gigantopithecus Blaaki? They're more like orangutangs than gorillas, and humans used to exist alongside them.

Both girth and length would matter. The vagina, like the penis, starts out small (3-4 inches) and expands when aroused (usually doubling length). If it's not long enough to accommodate, that might be a problem.

I tend to view explicit visibility as more important than being vague, especially when it's so vague that many people don't even pick up on it to count it for visibility in the first place.  But things may be different now.  That post was over two years ago.  With purely gay/lesbian set sexualities in Inquisition, we may actually get some insight into how people define themselves, if at all, and what that means within the scope of this 'no such terminology exists/it's private so it's vague' aspect (if it is even a concept the devs adhere to anymore).

well ok guys

I know we've talked about this at length already, but what are you guys expecting (both which characters, and what their corresponding sexualities are) regarding a 2/2/2 distribution vs. 2/4/2? The possibility of the latter seems to be more and more likely to me with all the hinting about IB's potential as an LI.

Keeping gay characters vague was probably done for the 'sake' of the target audience at the time.

Thankfully things have changed.

So I watched the video interview with Freddy Prinze Jr. Not sure on if I like his voice for IB. I think in need to see the character talking to make up my mind. Not just hearing Freddy doing lines.

A lot of the guys in that thread were rampant homophobes. When I first read the quote, I thought DG was dressing down someone for wanting more gay/bi visibility and his response pissed me off. When I read more into the thread though, I realised he was trying to shut up a bunch of homophobes complaining about all the DA2 characters being bi because it "broke their immersion" or "wasn't realistic" in the world of Thedas that DG had created because it had never been talked about before (even though... well Leliana and Zev).

Tw@ts...

When I first heard it was FPJ, I was happy because I was a big fan of his role as James Vega in ME3 and I thought "Cool! A qunari that doesn't sound like an ogre...", then I heard the put on voice he was doing and... well it kind of sounds like Bane but not quite. I'll admit it was weird coming out of FPJ's mouth but maybe not coming out of IB's mouth. Hopefully...

He does sound funny though.

That's exactly how I described it to a friend earlier.  Has that vibe to it.
