So, big shocker in that David Gaider is not writing Cole. That means his second romance is still on the table as being either Dorian or Solas, where as before most people seemed to think it must be one of the NPCs. What do you guys think? D:

I'm fine with both options so far.

Ah ok

yea, I think David might be writing Dorian then

I'd be surprised if someone as conventionally attractive as Dorian isn't an LI.

I'll actually laugh if Dorian doesn't end up being an LI

Well, Dorian doesn't have to be David Gaider's to be an LI. I mean, he could still easily be if he's written by someone else.

I would like it if Dorian was an LI I have a big urge to put him with a male qunari mage if possible. Now that I think about it both of the qunari characters I plan on making are going to be gay, huh weird coincidence oh well :)

I always suspected that David would be writing the fully gay companion. I know if I would jump at a chance to write a gay character if I hadn't been able to really write one before.

Haha, I dunno... I can't get into the mustache. Which is surprisingly shallow for me. *slaps self* But I hope he is an LI looking at how many fans he has. In fact I expect him to be one.

Isn't the deal that he wrote two romances, two companions, and a pick up from another writer? Or am I making that up? Because it seems like Cassandra would be a companion + romance while Cullen would be the orphaned character + romance, which leaves a companion without a romance (which we all assumed was Cole until today). Unless they already have plans for Dorian to be in future games, I feel like he's the "safe" choice of the remaining two to be an LI. So...I guess my theory is that Gaider wrote Solas, who will not be a LI.

Yeah, I'm beginning to suspect David is writing the gay companion. Though, I can't remember if he was the one who said that he's writing a character he's been wanting to write for a long time and that one of the characters is struggling with their sexuality. If I heard wrong, someone please correct me on this.

You are mixing things up.

David never said he was writing a character struggling with his/her sexuality.  That's people taking something he said in his blog has being in the game while he was just musing on a question asked him.

He did say that he wrote, last year, a follower he wanted to write since he joined BioWare 15 years ago. Most people believed that to be Cole. All the writers knew he was going to write that character when they did the "character distribution", so it was probably a character idea he brought up often.

Hmm, was it confirmed that Patrick wrote a LI, or was it only a speculation?

Patrick mentioned something about the difficulties inherent in writing a non-straight, non-white, and/or non-male character (as he as a straight white man). So that led to speculation that he was writing a gay/bi companion. Which, Iron Bull is probably not straight (and he's not white!) so it could be him.

I meant that if he confirmed he was writing a LI, IB might be confirmed.

Understood. Thanks.

Wasn't that about writing Empress Celene?

He wrote Samantha Traynor from ME3.  That is who he was talking about

Considering that Fenris has been my favorite romance so far and DG wrote him... well I certainly have my fingers crossed that he's writing one of the m/m LIs this time around. :) I know a lot of folks are iffy about Solas but I'd be happy with him (or Dorian <3) if DG is writing him.

I think peoples deal with Solas is that he's bald. I admit, thats kind of a mild turn off for me as well.

Which is why they need to get him voiced by Patrick Stewart. His voice makes bald sexy.

Considering the twitter was during the production of DA:I and it seemed like it was present tense: I suspect that it wasn't referring to Traynor. It's unlikely that he wrote another major character (companion/adviser) but he more than likely wrote several other characters who fit this bill.

Or that he's too shiny way to shiny   Seriously Solas why is it that every time I see you you look like you just got done taking an oil bath????

That said bald can be beautiful/sexy on some people and I think Solas would look weird with hair.

I don't believe it was ever confirmed if he picked up Cullen. People were speculating he did when they thought he wrote Cole, but it was never confirmed who is writing Cullen this time. At least, I've never seen any official word on Cullen's writer. All I've ever seen is that Gaider said he wrote two romances of some capacity.

If they got Sir Patrick Stewart to voice ANYONE in a DA game, I would... what's the expression? Climb that like a tree.

(bald doesn't bother me, if he's got an interesting/appealing character/personality/connection to the bigger story)

Watched a quiz show the other week and apparently here (in the UK) women consider baldness the #1 unnatractive trait/feature in a man.

I don't think baldness is attractive. Like, it doesn't totally ruin Solas for me, but if I'm being honest I think he would be substantially more attractive with hair. He's still my second choice (after Dorian) for an LI, though.
