That's actually why I think we won't even have 8 LIs, because that's pretty much all of our companions minus 2

 

To be fair, that's how DA2 was, practically. All except three were LI's, and one of the three left after Act One. (Another also died before Act One, so.  ) Plus, Tallis. A female Hawke could flirt with Varric, Aveline, and Tallis, while a male Hawke only Aveline and Tallis. So, of your possible eight followers, five were LI's, one left one-third of the game through, and you can flirt with the other two.

 

Having all but two be LI's would not be too much in DAI, I think. Also, consider, that due to gender and race gating, your Inquisitor's available LI's could be significantly less. So while it technically seven of the nine followers are LI, only, say, four of them are actually open to your character during a game. One-sided flirting with the rest of the team will probably still occur, but that's nothing new.

 

That's my thought process, anyway.

I know a lot of people were expecting Scribbles to the gay LI for female characters and were pretty bummed about it (gay LI's relegated to NPC roles again). That is why I ignore homophobes,they raised a similar stink over Anders being a gay option and with ME3 as well.Who cares what they think.

To me this seems more fair than having the most known female unavailable to both genders. Especially after what they released today about Cass which was very detailed in comparison to the other companion releases. Informing us that Cass is a romantic at heart and not allowing females to romance her would be down right cruel hmmm maybe she will be straight.

 

If this ends up true, my straight female Inquisitor is still at a loss on who to romance. So it sounds good to me, seems like enough options.

 

I would be pleasantly surprised if Varric is straight, dwarf only though. Seems like a very small demographic, but it also sticks to what I currently know of him. It also would encourage me to play a female dwarf for the first time ever, so that's a plus.

 

My only hope is that, with such a gating matrix, all companions/advisers have a big "OMG" plot moment, so no one feels like they missed out on the epic drama.

Agreed,I don't think the game industry needs the input of bigots anyway.They should just make whatever game they want whether it includes gay people,different religions,people of color etc;.

Gaider said that they had a Chart, but that it wasn't really up to him if they ever released it. That's up to the marketing people.

 

Do I think we'll eventually get the Chart? Yes. But. I think it's more likely we'll get it much, much closer to release date (mid September) or after the game ships.

I don't think I can take that wait, I'm already out of things to keep me busy until October and am running around the walls here   Even a yes or no to even seeing the chart before the games release would make me happy but I'll just have put on my grown up pants and deal with it I guess.

I'll take it even if its just that, planned on getting a guide anyway so my mother would agree to play with me (not sure how I'm going to explain the romance section assuming its in there at all)

I, too, have tried drawing up some conservative charts with naught by my speculation to go on... and it's just not something I can manage.  

 

Sera: Lesbian, for humans, elves, dwarves, qunari

Dorian: Gay,  for humans, elves, dwarves, qunari

IB: Bi, available only to qunari and humans (if even a "real" LI)

Varric: Straight, fling for dorf women

Solas: Straight...? For humans and elves (and qunari?)

 

Anything I try to feasibly finagle past that just breaks down (even worse) in a chaos of backspace tapping.  I really can't say anything at this point.  I want the chart.

I vastly prefer to play as a female PC and I'm really excited to have Sera confirmed as a romance option ! I hope that there is a viable and kind male option also, as that is my ultimate prefered romance (Dorian, pls)?????

I really wanted a Female Elf LI for my Male Elf Inquisitor thats why im a lil dissapointed about Sera but yaknow Cards fall where they are maybe theres a super secret npc thats a female Elf that wants my Melf ha ha.

I think the bi-romances are likelier to be 'race gated', otherwise they'd have to animate 8 different scenes for them.

 

That's my thinking also. I highly doubt there will be a LI that requires the player to be just 1 race as well as 1 gender. I think it will be an either, or thing. But if there ends up being race restrictions for the gay and straight characters , I STILL think that means only 1 race will be restricted not 3.

I assume you meant to write 'human female Inquisitor' there, because otherwise your sentence doesn't make much sense. Sera will not be romancing any men of any race, because she is a lesbian. We don't know if she's into women of all races yet.

She won't be going down with male Inquisitor anything.  But yes, it is entirely possibly she is racially restricted to some women Inquisitors.

I wanted her as soon as I saw her. Then I saw she dont like to pole dance and I felt betrayed.

It's more like we see our choices now and it's not looking good.
