Like it did with Morrigan, Isabella, Zevran, Fenris....
Well, I romanced Leliana and Merrill alone, so I never had anything start before the romance.

Morrigan starts out just trying to get the warden accustomed to bedding her so that getting him to do the ritual will be that much easier. Pursue the romance and that icy exterior begins to crack and she learns to love him and not just use him.
Isabella is a hedonist, but the wild drinking and partying covers up the pain of her past mistakes and experiences. Keep romancing, she learns to love one person and not just a set of actions.
Zevran is a lot like Isabella. He admits he was raised to take his fun when he could get it.
Fenris is a lot like Isabella and Zevran, but without using humor to cover up pain. Keep romancing, he comes to love Hawke and not the relief s/he provides him.
I imagine Vivienne would be largely the same. She'd start out wanting the inquisitor as a treasure she can put on her mantle and show off, but keep the romance going, she learns to love the inquisitor for him/her, probably when she realizes that the inquisitor loves her for her and not her wealth and status.
Alas, I don't think that my Dalish Inquisitor would put up with that. Being used as some kind of trophy for an Orlesian noble would be... well, she'd rather skin Vivienne alive than submit to that, I think.

I hadn't decided who, if she's available. I headcanon that my dwarf girls argue with Anora over whether any half-dwarfs produced by Alistair would have legitimacy, as is the custom in Orzamar. Alistair tries to avoid the arguments.
You can't just race-gate without affecting your entire pool of choices. Bioware want everyone to have "at least 2 choices" and race-gating bisexual means removing a straight and gay options at the same time. This mean, they can only race-gate once the number of choices available is already beyond 2.
With a 2/2/2 distribution you cannot race gate, the minimum of 2 choices is present for everyone. To add race-gate you need one more LI on top of that minimum. An extra. That new LI could be race-gated or share race-gate with another one of the same type (i.e. you use 2 LI to cover all 4 races).
They never said you wouldn't be stuck with one choice though I do doubt that they would give you only one choice based on your race it would feel kind of cheap, but they could race gate an a Bi LI and you would still have at least two choices left either the other bi LI or the gay or straight LI since I'm not sure if they said it would still come out even for anyone with gender and race combo. And they did flat out say some races may have less options than others (though I may be misremembering that if so I apologize) I get what you're saying at least I think I do. As much as I enjoy the characters and the romances from the Bioware games I've played I just have a hard time believing that they would spend extra time making new LIs is all.

It might have suited them actually, to keep certain companions in character because of stigma or whatever without sacrificing their "at least 2 choices".
So, Dorian has been confirmed as gay.
To me, he's the best looking out of the male companions.
As a straight female, and wanting to play as a straight female character (at least once), the potential options left are:
A bald Elf who kind of looks like Nicholas Cage and has questionable fashion sense.
A charming Dwarf, height challenges aside, who is strangely attached to an inanimate object.
A hulking Qunari who's occularlly challened, with Texas Longhorns stuck to the side of his head.
A human Templar, who seems to be involved in chaos where ever he goes. (confirmed LI)
So what are the guesses of the remaining males as to LI status, and for orientation?
Added:
How could I forget?????
A human Grey Warden beefcake, honorary Dwarf due to beard status, tainted and possibly (finely) aged?

I hope that's what happened I'd really hate to only be stuck with one or zero choices. Still wish there was no race gates but nothing my whining is going to do about it ![]()
Really hope that's what they are going for instead.
So, Dorian was confirmed gay in the interview today with his writer, David Gaider. This means, unless David Gaider is writing an NPC, Dorian looks to be likely as the gay LI choice.

Can we just straight up say that he is. I hate this 'Well, it's not official......' when it's very obvious even though I know there are some people who's definition of obvious isn't the same.

You forgot Blackwall and going by how that survey image romance theory haven't been destroyed yet, he's probably the male bisexual option.
Dorian/Sera: gay
Cassandra/Blackwall: bisexual
Cullen/Scribble: straight
That was the original split 2 years ago though, it could have "evolved" by now, especially if they added race-gated LIs...

I don't like this setup. While I have no problem with NPC romances, it isn't fair for straight players who do since it leaves them only one choice while gay players have 2 companions to choose from.
My LI guesses right now;
Cassandra - Straight
Vivienne - Bisexual Companion
Sera - Lesbian
Scribbles - Bisexual NPC
Solas - Straight
Iron Bull - Bisexual Companion
Dorian - Gay
Cullen - Bisexual NPC
I don't really feel like I can guess what race gating will be like right now. IB is probably gated against "smaller" races, like dwarves and maybe elves. I honestly don't know who else.
I liked everything except for the Cullen part, no way he isn't straight. Played as a male mage in Origins and he didn't hint at having any interest in me (Which is cool, I'm straight) but was all over my female mage, he defo straight.
Looking at the breakdown.....why so many human females?
Looks like the only race a straight-male player (of any race-avatar) will potentially be able to have a romance with is a human female.
The only non-human female companion, Sera, is a confirmed f/f companion.

Agreed I think that the NPC romances are most likely to be Bisexual so everyone would have an even number of LIs that are companions.
I really really doubt that all PCs are going to have a choice, unfortunately. Hopefully I'm wrong, but the last time Bioware had race-gated romances in their games was in Baldur's Gate, where dwarven PCs had zero options.
Good thing I play human. SUPERIOR RACE:HUMANITY!

*snip*
Oh my God! It all makes sense now! Why didn't I think of that before??!!

Really? I'd have thought that Cassandra and Vivienne would both be romances, and on the male side would be... I don't know, Solas?

Just a friendly reminder that he is, in no way, "defo straight". "Possibly straight", sure. I might even go so far as saying "probably straight". But definitely not, "definitely straight", because that's just not true and I am not looking forward to the "retcon" complaints if he is revealed to be bisexual.
Agreed I think that the NPC romances are most likely to be Bisexual so everyone would have an even number of LIs that are companions.
Wouldn't it be the same if one NPC was straight and the other Bi?
A lot of people thought that it was "obvious" that David Gaider wrote Cole...Can we just straight up say that he is. I hate this 'Well, it's not official......' when it's very obvious even though I know there are some people who's definition of obvious isn't the same.

There's a high that chance that Scribe Girl is an LI over Vivienne

Wasn't that survey just to asking about the looks of each character individually? I don't know where people got the image of all the character side by side from (with male inquisitor on the first row and female below). It seemed like that image was just put together afterwards to show the concepts together (not really sure, I didn't catch the leak until much later)
There's a high that chance that Scribe Girl is an LI over Vivienne
That would be odd. Why do we think that?
