Just like BioWare wouldn't make the only blond haired elven female a lesbian or the dandy male gay. Well, they just did.

Beside, if the specialists/advisers are straight, there is still the bisexual characters available to straight people. I'm not sure how they get disqualified exactly.

This is my point exactly. Cassandra and Solas will still be available to straight players. In ME3 the Gay and Lesbian options were both non-companions and people acted like the LGBT community should be grateful they got anything? Well, now straight people can have the companion romances, since they always said they're good enough.

Do you honestly think that would be good for PR.

Changing their logo to the pride flag wasn't good PR either, but they did it.

I've seen TONS of straight guys outright refusing to buy the game over the Sera thing.

  • Please do not taunt people who are disappointed because a romance option is not available to them.  No matter how schadenfreude you may get, or how much you feel someone needs it because of whatever reason, lets not escalate things.

That info came from leaks.

BW never announced it.

The sexuality of the DA;O companions came from leaked images of a strategy guide right before the game came out.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the info.  :)

And you are making assumptions on no information.

We know only that Cass is a LI. Not orientation. (bi? straight?)

We know nothing about Solas as far as LI status is concerned.

How am I taunting anyone by saying I think the non-companion romances will be straight?

People acting like it's an impossibility just shows how pervasive heterosexual privilege is. Like it's OK to make gay exclusive romances non-companion, but not the straight exclusive ones? Why is that? Why is the idea of all the companions being gay or bi so upsetting?

Really? There was a huge backlash, but I haven't seem that many people saying this. Did it happen on this forum or somewhere else?

What about the straights that didn't agree with the gay/lesbian LI be NPCs in ME3?

To be honest, I'm not sure there are actually more straight women that would want any other male companion over Cullen, so the male choices are difficult. A lot more difficult than the female side, I think. Cullen and Dorian both had strong followings, but everyone else among the males has always been very mixed.

Or nearly anything , IMO. but I'm not complaining

yusiam I need to know if its a 9/9 out of the companions I like with DA Inquisition. Because I'm looking forward and loving everyone now.

Anyways, the 2 / 2 / 2 system is dead for me with the racial restrictions and the sentence about having more romance by a dev.

On other gaming forums, sadly. TONS of claims of bioware pandering to gays and females. There are even guys starting campaigns trying to get their friends not to buy it because of how emasculated they're feeling.

I don't care either way who will be straight/bi. I'm happy for the gay and lesbian players for getting a full gay and lesbian Follower LI. I'd prefer to have the advisors to be bi because in this way everyone gets the same choice in the party (which I personally supported long before Sera's announcement).
In the end, I'm fine either way. I play different characters with different sexualities, and I don't care about the Follower/advisor differences.

Must have missed the part in your post where you said it was a theory or your opinion.

And as to the straight male players who said they wouldn't by the game just because of Sera? Their loss.

So if they are indeed doing 2/2/2, I will now make a prediction.

Cullen and Scribe Girl :  Straight

Iron Bull and Cassandra:  Bi

and of course

Dorian and Sera :  Confirmed Gay

I was wondering if Varric would potentially be a race gated companion, if he was a LI at all.

Could potentially see IB also being race gated just due to the 'strong enough' comment.

The others? I'm up in the air about.

Taunting and/or schadenfreude type comments would come more from saying "Poor straight people. Maybe they should get a taste of how it feels to have so few options."

Having said that, I don't agree with your comment being taunting, but rather as much an expression and request for a degree of understanding and sympathy for those that typically do have to suffer with marginalized content.  Further, that there's nothing mandating that the straight romance interests cannot be advisors simply because they are advisors.

If you were to come in and say: "Haha straight people are just going to have to deal with having the crap romance options" (which you didn't) then it'd be something that I would consider a vaulting point for escalation and I'd be inclined to speak up.

Yeah, although I'd feel for Cullen fans who want to romance him with a male Inquisitor, I would personally be okay with this.

To be fair, the default position I tend to take by most posters is that they are sharing their opinion (or something else like hopes, fears, concerns) as opposed to definitive facts.

It's safer this way I find and mitigates the need for overuse of "in my opinion" in posts.

Sometimes I still do the "imo" acronym. It makes things easier for people not quite as used to reading some posts.

Because then you'd potentially have the gay players being able to have 2 companion choices (and one of the companion choices being exclusively theirs). While the straight players would get 1 companion choice (you know, those people you take out questing with you) and NO companion option exclusively theirs.

Don't see that spread happening.

Yeah really hoping it doesn't happen and still reasonably optimistic it won't.

I'd be extremely angry if it does turn out to be the case. Wouldn't rule out not buying from table of options.

Still think Cassandra will likely be straight option, especially if its some form of 2-2-2-1 with racial add on.

Dorian is gay? Well, im a bit disappointed. I guess im happy for the people that got what they wanted, but man oh man romances are going to be boring if you are straight.

And, of course, its also that wonderful time where i stay the hell out of these forums for a week.
