Removed some posts relating to the posting habits of other boards.  While I have no doubts that there's some people that will actively not pick up our game because a love interest they want is straight or gay, it's also conjecture and may not even be representative of the opinion of a particular message board and as such I don't want to derail the thread with discussions about ambiguous people, nor do I really want to have us linking to other boards about it.

 

 

My recommendation is to take the statement as a "please understand how gay people often feel, especially in light of how they are told they should be grateful for getting anything. It sucks."

To be fair, the default position I tend to take by most posters is that they are sharing their opinion (or something else like hopes, fears, concerns) as opposed to definitive facts.

 

It's safer this way I find and mitigates the need for overuse of "in my opinion" in posts.

 

Allan, I'll drop it at this point, but the sentence I refered to didn't even need 'in my opinion'.

The words 'will be' (which is stating a fact) could have been substituted with 'may be' or 'likely will be' (which are hedges).

Sometimes I still do the "imo" acronym. It makes things easier for people not quite as used to reading some posts.

I honestly think that with the race gating there'll be more then 6 romances.

Yeah.  I'm expecting the same case since they announced race gating as well, and I also believe Gaider said he'd want to make sure every player gets a choice no matter what they play as though they may get less choices.......don't quote me on that though, and someone who has that quote may want to correct me.

I think the former is more likely with race gating.

I don't use it, but if someone thinks I'm being rude or otherwise because I didn't use it, I just make myself clear in my next post, and things are usually fine afterwards.

2/4/2 is *a lot* of romances.

Im curious to how much substance theres gonna be too our romances this time other then convos i want those romantic moments like picnics!

Taunting and/or schadenfreude type comments would come more from saying "Poor straight people. Maybe they should get a taste of how it feels to have so few options."

 

 

Having said that, I don't agree with your comment being taunting, but rather as much an expression and request for a degree of understanding and sympathy for those that typically do have to suffer with marginalized content.  Further, that there's nothing mandating that the straight romance interests cannot be advisors simply because they are advisors.

 

If you were to come in and say: "Haha straight people are just going to have to deal with having the crap romance options" (which you didn't) then it'd be something that I would consider a vaulting point for escalation and I'd be inclined to speak up.

I am too. The woman I wanted available for my male Elf isn't, and now the man I wanted available for my female Qunari isn't.

Ah.  I was understanding that a 'choice' meant more than one since he said a similar thing in regards to why DAII had all bi followers meaning everyone would get a choice between at least two characters.

Tbh, only person I feel might be race gated is Iron Bull. But if it's more than one then it might be the bi LIs which mean it could still be 2/2/2

It's possible he meant that. They just didn't confirm it one way or another. What we know that some gender/race combo will get less options then others.

Class gated too. You only have a shot with him if you're also a rouge who uses only crossbows, if you switch weapons he breaks it off with you automatically

2/2/2 cannot support race-gating, it's the strict minimum for "at least 2 choices" per gender/orientation.

 

2/4/2 requires all available females to be romances choices except for Leliana (who we know is not an option only because she was a romance in a previous game). As a woman, this feel wrong, but then 3 female companions among 9 characters also felt wrong and BioWare did it anyway.

 

I think we are getting a single extra on the 2/2/2 setup, race gated and most probably a male character (which we have plenty of).
