The solution to Bioware's failure to offer equal inclusive content is not to turn around and fail to offer equal inclusive content, but this time in favour if another group.
Even if we accept that it's not as bad to cheat a historically advantaged group, it's still a failure to be inclusive. If we take inclusiveness seriously, we have to be worried about any time a developer fails to be inclusive.
But that is assuming they are not going to be inclusive of straight male gamers. If they also include straight options (which I'm confident they are) then straight gamers are not being excluded.
They might not be getting the majority of the romances this time around, but they will still have options.

This, I really don't know where pepole are coming from when they say IB wiould be race-gated.
His build is incredible and the mechanics of conversation, kissing and sex is totally different for him and another quanri (who is either close to his build as a male or shorter than him), humans and elves (who are shorter than the female quanri) and dwarves (who would literally look like kids in his hands). That is a LOT of work to make one romance work. Its more work than two bi romances in DAO.

Yeah I'm also planning a gay qunari inquisitor playthrough I think it will be really interesting (we never saw a gay qunari before is that even allowed if you are with the qun?)
I don't think he is race gated though they didn't say anything in the interview about it, he seems pretty open as long
as its male

True, I'd like for them to also have a genderqueer companion and someone who is pansexual. Unfortunately, I doubt those two things will ever happen. It seems like they are going for a 2/2/2 situation which kind of sucks because it will limit replayability regarding Lis.

I actually didn't plan it just kind of realized that both of my qunari were planned for s/s romances not like I"m going to change it though I like the thought of those two with qunari too much x3
As far as I know romance isn't really recommend in the Qun at all gay or straight.
I don't think they'll do a gender restriction and a race restriction on the same character but always best to be cautious about it just in case. ![]()

Anders was probably pansexual.

Honestly Anders kind of flirts with female hawks too even if you don't show interest in him that way.

Nothing was forced with Anders. First of all, you had to choose certain dialogue options to even get him to flirt with your character. Secondly, you had an option to turn him down, meaning nothing was forced at all.

How is Anders showing interest in a maleHawke forcing gay content down your throat?
My Hawke was a lesbian. She wasn't interested. She turned him down and everyone moved on with their life. Not really sure what the issue is.

That sounds more like Zevran, he hit on an old lady, a dwarf, female/male warden, Lelianna, Morrigan.

Anders wasn't "forced down your throat." It was one...stupid...flirt. For +15 rivalry, that you can make up for before the end of Act 1.
Guess what? Women got hit on too by him and it is just as awkward due to the timing of it. Is it okay because it was to a woman?
It's been what, about 2 years and counting now? And a flirt from a man in a video game still bothers you? Interesting...

Is there a meaningful distinction between pansexual and bisexual?

But that is assuming they are not going to be inclusive of straight male gamers. If they also include straight options (which I'm confident they are) then straight gamers are not being excluded.
They might not be getting the majority of the romances this time around, but they will still have options.
First, note that the post I responded to didn't talk about straight male gamers, but rather straight people (and so was presumably targeted toward both men and women).
Second, I think we need to carefully define "inclusive" here. Suppose that the fears are justified, and so-called "advisor" romances have less content than companion romances. Suppose (for the sake of argument) that the two advisor romances are bi, and (for example) Varric/IB and Cass/Viv are all straight. At this point, gay & lesbian gamers are less content for their romances: 1 companion + 1 bi NPC with less content, vs. 2 full companions.
Would we say that this scenario is "inclusive"? To the extent that we would praise it for non-straight content, it seems difficult to praise it for inclusiveness when one side has less of it.
Now, what happens when we're talking about straight gamers having less content? Why does it suddenly become "inclusive"? That's a problematic standard for inclusiveness.
Of course, as I alluded to in my original post, one could make an argument about historical advantage and disadvantage. I think historical advantage has a critical role to play in furthering diversity. But there's an important distinction. Disadvantage shouldn't define what it means to be inclusive - rather, it should be our guideline when we have to make tough choices in the face of limited resources.
It is one thing to say that there are only so many development zots for romances, and that Bioware must choose between whether gay & lesbian gamers will have more romance content (something incredibly rare for them, and never with openly gay companions in a Bioware game before) versus straight gamers (who have had a plethora of options in previous games, albeit more greatly favouring men than women).
It is quite another thing to (vindictively) say that it is about time that straight gamers get their just desserts and see what it is like to have less content, because they have been in a position of advantage. I don't think this is a viewpoint we should respect, even if it is one we can understand.

If I can stomach other games throwing females at the male protagonist constantly, you should at least be able to handle at least one.

I hardly think of the word "forced" when someone flirts with you. Isabela flirted with me and I didn't feel completely violated afterwards, why is this always about Anders one line of flirty dialogue?

Isabela flirts with literally everyone, so does Zevran. It's part of their character and I don't see a compelling reason not to include it. As long as your character doesn't show an interest when you don't want them to, there is no real problem.

I'm going to say it: Because Anders is a man, and some straight men aren't used to getting hit on by other men. A smaller percentage of those straight men were offended by that, and post adorable things like "gay content is being forced down my throat," without a hint of irony.
Sorry i cant have a opinion your a women so your right. im wrong straight men cant voice things that make them uncomfortable.
Really, there is no need to jump to the "oh, you're a woman" argument. It's your choice of words I was poking the most fun at.

Seeing DG's comments in favour of include a character like Maevaris in future DA games, we might see a genderqueer companion (and eventually LI, though I think the transphobia will be so uncontrollably overwhelming that I'll probably end up quitting the forum; but perhaps humanity will positively surprise me).
At any rate, I worry that it is straight female gamers who will suffer in all of this - with Cullen as a (likely) straight or bi LI given what we've seen in the past, and with the remaining male companions all being quite unconventional in their looks or personality.

He flirts with a female Hawke too, after the same mission. So, your point...?
He'd flirt with a lamp post if he could...
