Hence Cassandra's surprise, I suspect.

I don't think anyone realizes just how excited I would be if this turned out to be true... Watch it is and it turns out she is like the one character my inquisitor just does not mesh with... That would totally be my luck.

The romance option I'm most excited about is... enh? I'd originally planned on Sera, but it sounds like she'll be... perhaps turned off by intense interest in magic, which my PCs are almost guaranteed to display. Her aversion to Cole speaks of some possible aversion to magic; I'm not positive about this, but since necromancers also seem to deal with spirits judging by what was said about Dorian, it's quite possible that she won't work too well with a necromancer. Which I will be.

So in that case, it'd be a choice between Vivienne and Cassandra, and I have my doubts about both of them... Cassandra being like a more militant version of Leliana, and Vivienne so far being extremely unpleasant-seeming. So really, I'll have to wait and see.

I don't think Sera will necessarily be turned off towards a necromancer protagonist, especially if she comes to trust her by the time the Inquisitor learns the specialization (which I assume will be acquired later on, and not initially).

As for my first character, I don't think he will be romancing anyone. Cue "The Loney Man" from the Incredible Hulk.

No, I mean I don't see her as being the person David was referring to when he said that.

Who else would it be? Cullen? That's the only other option I can think of, and I have this weird feeling DG won't be writing him.

Well, I'm rooting for you. My girlfriend has the same wish.

I am relaxed but i will give my opinion on things that are uncomfortable to me just like you would.

I used to be uncomfortable with it too.  But the more I let myself be exposed to it the less issue I had with it, and this helped carry over into reality too.

It's just someone flirting.  If I want them to stop, I can say so and they will (which is a bit more than can be said about the real world).  It's nothing bad, and it doesn't mean I'm a different person because I was asked.

Which romance prospects is everyone most excited about?

Solas and Cullen! I seriously can't wait to hear more about Solas next week though. I know a lot of people don't seem to think he'll be a romance option, but I'm really hoping he is.  :(

Interested in IB as well.

Oh, man, all of them?

Cullen, for sure, since I've been rooting for him since about halfway through DA2. The Iron Bull sounds fascinating, and I'd like to hear more about the Qun sexuality and relationships, and this seems like a good way to do it. DORIAN. OH MAN. A Tevinter magister who thinks there's something good about his country he's fighting for? Sign me up. Sign me up now.

If Solas turns out to be an awakened, ancient elf I will be all over him:lol:

I don't want to make any accusations, but Sera's brand of populism sometimes carries with it an unfortunate degree of anti-intellectualism, which could easily extend to magophobia. Combined with her issues with Cole, and there's enough to make me worried.

Also, I'm considering playing my first run as a Vashoth instead of an elf, to block out any disappointment I might feel at being unable to sufficiently advance elven causes... but I don't know if I could get into caring about the universe as much if I was part of a society I'd never seen before.

Im fine with gay content in a game but not when it comes on to me i have no choice bioware make that for me.

Our games are about allowing the player choice to respond to events.  Anders' action is one such thing, and you are given a choice to respond.

If your preference is to insulate yourself from this sort of stuff, then it's possible that you either need to reflect to a point where that's less of an issue, or reevaluate the game.  The game does not bend to the will of the player, and events will happen outside of the player's control for a wide variety of topics.

Sera and Dorian the most, interested in IB, Cassandra and Cullen though, need to know more about Solas tbh. Really hope he gets stuff next week, the wait has been long enough.

Well, it depends.  I know better than to pin my hopes on anyone, but I'm one of those candle-bearers for a Varric romance.  I don't expect it, but I do have a sliver of hope.  I won't be disappointed if he isn't, since he's my DA "best bud" and I'm just thrilled to have him around.

Sera is great, but so far isn't really my type.  She's feels to me more like a kid sister, someone that's going to be bratty and possibly quite immature.  Those aren't marks against the character; if anything, I adore her for those reasons.  She just isn't my taste to romance.  While I'm still quite happy for the Cullen fans (sincerely,) he's never done anything to make me want him as a LI.

Otherwise, I don't know.   I'll really have to wait and see who's available.  Even then, I'm going to be careful about setting my expectations in stone.

The first time I played Origins, I thought I would love Zevran and find Alistair completely boring, not my type (I'm not into short blonde hair/blue eyed men)  and too naive.  Turns out that Zevran isn't my favorite LI, and Alistair has turned into my favorite LI as well as my second favorite friendship in Origins (my first being Morrigan as a lady Warden.)

Time and time again, BioWare has taken my expectations and turned them on its head.  I wouldn't put it past them to surprise me yet again in Inquisition.   :)

I'm hopeful in regards to Varic becoming a romance interest, if only because they let you learn a little bit about Bianca in the comics, and also because he doesn't seem to be the narrator this time around. Basically they revealed that there IS a romance related story that Hawke never learned... That said I'm fairly certain of all the potential romance characters, he's the one that I'd expect to be exclusive to certain races.

I'm honestly looking forward to the possibility of Iron Bull the most. The more I learn about his character the more excited I get. He's a lot more amusing than I thought he'd be when I first saw his concept art. If I don't get to romance him, I'll probably be a bit disappointed...

At least I know Cullen's an option though, I've been hoping for something with him since I learned he didn't actually go on a murderous rampage through the Circle like in his DA:O epilogue xDD

I always thought Cullen. He did take over writing him after Jennifer Helper left. And Cullen is a character that everyone seems to think is straight since he only showed interest in female Amell/Surana yet has a huge fanbase of men and women.

I don't want to make any accusations, but Sera's brand of populism sometimes carries with it an unfortunate degree of anti-intellectualism, which could easily extend to magophobia. Combined with her issues with Cole, and there's enough to make me worried.

Sera likely hasn't had much experience with spirits or magic before, which means your Inquisitor might be able to show her different sides to the issue than an Andrastian upbringing would have permitted.

It would likely afford an interesting narrative of playing as a Vashoth and dealing with the stigma of the Qunari, especially as a woman who doesn't capitulate to the standards of the Qun (particularly in the restrictive roles for women).

I like Cullen, I'm male and I'll be making a female for him, so no issue for me.

He has not admitted to that at all. We don't know who took Cullen after Hepler left.

DG said a few days ago that he took Cass from Hepler though.

Count me in. He's the only male option I'm remotely considering. The others just don't appeal to me as potential romances at all.

Rather an odd opinion, given that Allan himself is a straight man...

Hmmm. You have a decent point there. It'll really be highly dependent on the game itself... I don't think I can make a final decision here.

It would likely afford an interesting narrative of playing as a Vashoth and dealing with the stigma of the Qunari, especially as a woman who doesn't capitulate to the standards of the Qun (particularly in the restrictive roles for women).

Indeed, but I'd really want to see and experience their society first. I want to be able to feel the roots of my PC.

I meant the Vashoth society.

I believe it was specifically stated that the Vasoth PC was born outside of the qun, in fact.

my vaguest of understandings is that mages are more like the biotic of Mass Effect in that it is seen as more of a curse/disease then a superiority thing? No doubt someone will be afraid of magic and such, but I think Cass and Cullen have that skeptical front covered pretty well. I feel like there is a clear line between being afraid of mages and spirits from another plane of existence (a plane of existence that is currently waging war on your world too), so idk if fear of spirits for sure indicates a fear of mages? We shall see though. :)

I meant the Vashoth society.

Is there such a thing at all? I mean, do we have any evidence of there being a culture of qunari expatriots?
