I would say that straight women were not more shafted than both sexes of gay in ME3. They might have had only two viable LIs, but gay men had only two LIs period, and lesbians had... two LIs who had anything done with them, one who fled the Normandy altogether and then got snubbed from the Citadel party (all without any major content), and one random fling.

Not really true, femshep could only romance Garrus if she started a romance with him in ME2. Straight female got only one romance option in ME3.

Depending on how you look at it straight femshep got shafted a little bit more in certain areas than in others (not counting the Citadel party here). Straight males, gay guys, and gay women were always guaranteed at least one romance no matter what they did in previous games, this was not the case for a straight femshep, in that regard straight femshep got "shafted" more than any other demographic. In another regard, straight women did have more side romantic content than gay men, and more potential companion romances than gay men or gay women so they weren't given the entire short end of the stick. Straight men inevitably came out on top however. They had more companion romances than any other demographic, and more side content as well, the only thing they didn't get was Traynor.

I did a little counting.  I'm not saying the gay community has had it any better (far from it,) but in the course of the ME games LIs for straight women go as follows:

ME1: Kaidan

ME2: Jacob, Thane, Garrus

ME3: Kaidan and Garrus (only if you romanced him in ME2)

Mass Effect spoilers:

Spoiler

Again, I'm not trying to state that the gay community got anything resembling options.  Two yeoman for the ladies and one shuttle pilot plus Kaidan in the entire series wasn't right either.  How good or bad the romances were seems really subjective after I asked about it a few weeks back.  However, straight woman were left largely in the cold.

Wouldn't it be awesome if the DA team did something completely different and gave more LI options to women in Inquisition?

and let's remember that LI can be potentially dead too. Straight femshep can very easily be forced to be a forever alone in ME3. very, very easily.

Kinda disappointed Dorian isn't a romantic option for both genders (although I already braced myself for this news, it still stung a bit). At least there's still Cullen and Solas for the females, right? :) (not to mention there's still hope for a Varric Dwarven female & Iron Bull Qunari female romance - fingers crossed).

I'm in the "There's a shot in hell for Varric, right?" camp for the time being.  I'd really need more information on Solas before I could determine if he'd be a LI I'd be interested in, regardless of orientation.  I'm not attracted to him physically, but I don't find him unattractive either.

I'm really happy for the Cullen fans, but I'm more curious about his story than anything else.  I've never been interested in romancing him to be honest.  Alistair so far has been an exception to my type (dark haired/light eyed); usually blonde hair/blue eyed pretty boys (and girls) do absolutely nothing for me.

I would still, no question, take the deal straight females got in ME over one companion and one NPC in the last game of the whole series. I don't think the situation is even comparable. I really don't understand how people are trying to make it comparable. I seriously can't wrap my head around it. Yes, straight women did get a much worse deal than straight men. No, straight women didn't get even close to as crappy a deal as gay men.

Thane dies from his alien version of emphysema,

NO, again, no, Thane is murdered, he even tells you that he outlived his doctor's expectations.

STOP GETTING MY HOPES UP

I call BS on that "coming out" theory, never saw a single solid source, so no.

I feel the same about it. I've seen it come up over and over and nobody has ever been able to produce a source for it. The first time I saw it, the claim was that there would just be some character in Inquisition in some capacity that would be questioning their sexuality, still not sourced. Now it's come all the way to being definitely a David Gaider LI character, still equally lacking source. People have used it to argue for Cullen being gay, IB dealing with romance vs the Qun, Cassandra being bi. I wouldn't put much stock in the theory until it gets something to back it up. It seems like a catch all for whoever anyone wants to be an LI at the time.

You know, that reminds me of a tidbit about their society I made up, that I wish would be used. Magisters are judged by the size of their retinues... but smaller sizes are considered more prestigious, as it implies you need fewer people to defend you in case of some kind of attack. Any magister who travels alone is calling themselves a serious badass who has no need for any protection... although it makes them more likely to be challenged on this if they appear to be bluffing.

I pictured the Crows as the kind to only let you know you'll be killed the moment the assassin is ready to gut you.

On the Hepler's character being switched to Gaider, that's Cassandra. I guess it's possible David is writing an advisor, but with Dorian being his character and very likely gay LI, we know the romances he wrote.
So if that rumour is true (which I haven't personally saw it), It'd definitely mean Cass, since I think Dorian knows alread he's attracted to males.

I'm confused--What does this mean? What rumor??

but is because of his illness that he didn't survive the wound, even with the blood tranfusion from kolyat. so, even if indirectly (and thanks to the Power Ranger's bad guy...a-ehm, Kai lang.) Thane in the end dies from his deseas.

but he would have surely survived longer if it wasn't for Kai Lang, or Shepard immobility.  <_<

Because this thread isn't a fun place to gossip, speculate, and pass along rumor. No, if you've heard something and want to pass it on, you're bull****ing.

Another user came up with that asinine (in my opinion) theory several months ago. They have never said anything about such a story arc.
