He probably changed his tune after Tali made him sit through "Fleet and Flotilla"   :P. Perhaps the key to Varric's heart will be getting him to read "Chantries and Thaigs".

You don't like Fleet and Flotilla? HOW? Also, considering there is only between 0-1 chantries total under the ground, somehow I doubt that there is anything else called "Chantries and Thaigs" other than a pamphlet about what heathens the dwarves are.

Wait...we're not talking about Goosh Goosh are we?

And seriously people. Stop with the Varric Dwarven exclusion. Garrus said he wasn't into humans either.

Garrus knew FemShep for years, allowing him to look beyond sexuality, Varric will meet the Inquisitor for the first time in DAI. If Varric is not into humans, then it would make more sense for him to try to get involved with Cassandra than the Quizzy.

Romances exist, all the time, where there is no sexual attraction between those involved, but those take more time to form.

Gaider said that they had a Chart, but that it wasn't really up to him if they ever released it. That's up to the marketing people.

Do I think we'll eventually get the Chart? Yes. But. I think it's more likely we'll get it much, much closer to release date (mid September) or after the game ships.

I hope the chart comes out sooner. Definitely before the game is released, clearly, the diehard fans are very interested.

I certainly agree that, if you liked Liara, it could be the seen as the best writing ever.

Liara's main problem is that she was forced on us considerably. She has 3 DLCs where she's forced to be your primary companion for god's sake. And that nija romancing in ME1 was really annoying.

My biggest fear is Leliana is gonna go all mass effect 3 Jacob for FemSheps on my Warden. Ha ha but again Character development that would break my heart </3. Atleast for me id like to think my version of Leliana has missed but still loved her Warden!

I doubt that.

Jacob was not a well liked character. I dont agree with their choice, but Jacob definitely seemed like a "They hate him? Well, lets make him even worse!!"

Leliana is very well liked.

This would upset me greatly if for my save with my warden who only had a soft spot for Leliana and no one else but I doubt the DA team would do something so cruel.

What?!  She was awesome!  Even when I dumped her for the Cerberus Cheerleader she was still my bud.  She made that cool time capsule with you in it, and then she did Unity thing where you saw the stars.  It was so cool.  Even with my Femshep, she was my BFF.

You guys are nuts, she rocked.

Sorry man. Im glad she works for you, but I really wasnt fond of her.

I was more a fan of Tali or Garrus.

If it makes you feel any better, my favorite Bioware Romance Option is Merrill, and everyone seems to hate her.

Not really. Patrick Weekes said he "will hope into bed with anyone he's reasonably sure he won't break." While this does imply bisexuality, I've heard similar descriptions ("S/he'll sleep with anyone!") about people who are totally and completely straight. While I think it's enough to make me believe that Bull is bisexual, it's hardly enough to confirm it.

I think Weekes is aware of the implications of his comment. He's written s/s romances previously and well... survived several BioWare games.

He knows exactly how we're going to interpret such a statement.

Am I reading this wrong or are you saying what I think you're saying? Because I had no idea anyone wrote those romances in BioWare.

I know a lot of people that would find it weird course that's mostly cause they'd be too stuck on the fact that Iron Bull isn't human

At least I'm not considered weird on these forums.....yet.

Okay I just briefly wanted to weigh in on the topic of this thread...

I guess I'm pretty surprised that they've decided to go with race restrictions ON TOP OF gender restrictions, but oddly I'm feeling pretty optimistic about this. I think it'll add even more (I really, really, really will not have a life) replay value for me. Not only am I going to have to try out all 4 VAs, but now I'll need to try all sorts of gender and race combos for romance purposes.

Looks to me like Bioware knows exactly what they're doing.

I haven't been on these forums long enough yet to start acting like myself quite yet but judging by what I've seen on other threads I lurked on I shouldn't stand out too much......until happiness kicks in. But I'll try and be smart enough to stay off the threads while I"m super excited or happy :)

Restrictions don't add any replay value for me at all. I replay games because they're good, not because they have arbitrarily locked-out content.

The addition of Race Restrictions is a double edged sword true it will add depth to the Lis and I am all in favor of that but not at the expense of hindering certain Races "Qunari/Dwarfs".

I think straight Male Qunari/Dwarfs will feel the brunt of the Racegating because honestly they have limited female options and since any Li for straight Male Qunari/Dwarfs will likely be pure NPC romances who do you have seriously.

Dwarf Options

Sigrun

Dagna

Qunari Options

I got nothing for this because the Qunquisitor is a Vashoth and I cant see any Female Qunari "Follower of the Qun" romancing outside the Qun. Maybe a Female Tal Vashoth Mercenary but I dont know we will have to wait and see I guess.

Granted alot of concerns could be alleivated by B-Ware  just telling us who the Lis are and their prefrences heres hoping they do that. :)

So B-Ware lets have that Chart come on releaseing it will make alot of fans feel better.

That's why I'd say do without it. Furthermore, why did BW feel the need to bring in this double-edged sword in the first place? What depth does this add to companions that wasn't there before? If anything wouldn't it make some appear weaker for being more close-minded in that regard? Companions in past DA and BW games released in the past decade cared more about personality than race. How does it make them stronger to care now all of a sudden?

This may sound a bit strange, but my ultimate romance might end up chosen based on symmetry. I've noticed a lot of similarities between my Origins and DA2 playthroughs - even ignoring the rest of the party, the official coupling was of an elven mage and a human rogue - m/f the first time around, f/m the second time. Time for a human/human pairing of two warriors, or should I abandon the notion as of this newest instalment?

I've been hearing a lot of it due to the animation budget more so than it does with adding any depth to the characters, I"m not crazy about it either but so long as I won't be stuck with one or zero options for romance based on my race and gender I can reluctantly put up with it. As for what does it add to companions I'd say it adds nothing at least nothing appealing it comes off more as DA racism to me unless all characters that have race restrictions have some horrible scaring past with the race that they refuse to romance then it'll just come off as odd how many people in your team have this scarring convenient past with the race you happen to be. I don't think it adds anything attractive or worthwhile to them but I get why the restrictions are there due to animations.

Its an issue of animations and cost (literally and figuratively).

Im not a fan of it at all myself, and personally i feel like the romances in a Bioware game are important enough that they should have placed it higher on the priority list.

But alas, here we are.
