Christ, are people still debating on whether or not Cole an be romanced? Seriously, not all companions have to be a love interest. Appreciate them for who they are as a character, not just what you can do with them in your bunk. Cole is interesting enough all on his own without having to fall in love with someone to magically gain worth as a person.

I don't want to romance him, but I don't think anyone was saying the things you stated

A ghost with the mind of a child, so replace Swayze with Casper. Still as appealing?
The Casper movie did it too (except they were both kids). I'm just saying one person being dead isn't an obstacle for fiction. I'm not saying Cole should be romanced.

Pedophilia is often considered rape because the child can't give consent at such a young age. If Cole has the mentality of a child then I just don't see how he could give consent. I'm not really a fan of romancing a corpse with the mentality of a 12 years old. Everything about it just seems weird to me. 2 young kids in a relationship is not really the same as a middle age man dating a 12 years old.

Ehh, just to clarify, I wouldn't have romanced Cole if he was an LI anyway; I just like to have all potential LIs in my party because of the resulting banter (like between Fenris and Anders in DA2), and I've never read Asunder, so I'm not familiar with the whole child thing.
I was just asking so I could narrow down my potential squad.

Seems weird and gross to me as well. I really don't think he will be romanceable. Not that I want him to be. I really hope Solas is though, Solas being romanceable makes more sense to me then Cole.

Being incapable of consent =/= a child. Also.. he's not a corpse. He's a fade spirit, the original Cole is dead and gone.
Edit: I should clarify that I only mean that you do not need to be a child to be incapable of forming consent. Not... the other way around. ![]()
Recent quote from Gaider on this:
Yep. I was referring to his ability to comfortably form consent... which (in my mind) requires a certain level of maturity and understanding.
I am not, however, the final arbiter of what qualifies as consent. Also, the chances you'll get an unbiased answer regarding Cole from me are approximately zero (just ask Patrick). Either way, it's important to remember that Cole is not human. There are a lot of things that people will try to draw direct comparisons to, and that's a dicey thing to do with a character like him--particularly for people who are arguing about a character they've yet to encounter.
100% sure he wont be a romance though, so it's not gonna be an issue. It'll be like with Aveline. People hoping for her and then for a week or so they were crushed she wasn't a romance, but they got over it, moved on and enjoyed her character anyways!

Cole has dead fish eyes, his entire appearance is that of a well groomed corpse...

Indeed he does. But if he was a corpse, his body would be 12. The only way for that to work is if the original Cole died, including his mind, spirit Cole took his body and then it continued to grow. But since Gaider said he has the body of an adult, that wouldn't be enough time for him to age to what he is now.

Damn it, DG.Those who desire romance are not "bad" for it.
His tweet is a Futurama reference. "Your music's bad and you should feel bad!"
Note also that the tweet he's responding to calls it a "terrible idea."

Also with Cole being on the team, it opens speculation for whether other characters from Asunder will show up in the game. plus I would rather see other characters like Blackwall and Varric to be romanceable for those who want to.
Cole has brought enough content for us to enjoy imo. IF he should be a romance it will be more likely to expect it in games after DA:I for when he is able to actually have an adult mind. We do not even know yet if he his thought process will even grow.

Honestly after the race-gating announcement I thought it would be awfully strange if Varric isn't a romance in that case. I mean it's safe to say most characters wont get with dwarves and qunari because of height differences. So I personally think Varric and Iron Bull are LIs. But that's just my guessing based on the scraps we have.
Indeed it is confusing and we shouldn't make any assumptions on how Cole will be in Inquisition. I really don't care about romancing him, he's already my favorite and I don't need a romance with someone to think they are awesome and want to bring them everywhere.

Does anyone think the companions might romance one another if the protagonist doesn't pursue a romance with them, similar to Fenris and Isabela being together?

I didn't think about that because I was too busy thinking "OMG EVAN PETERS GIF OPENING I THOUGHT YOU'D NEVER COME" but that was the first season and it's going into season 4, so hopefully everyone that wanted to see it has. ![]()

Sera is a lesbian. She is only available to female characters for romance. This will not change by the time the game comes out.
