None of the companions do much for me as romances, except Varric and how much I think he's a LI varies from day to day. I'm sure I'll find something to like about all of them.  Remember, we know little specifics about any of them.  Perhaps a romance one feels is unworthy of attempting turns out to be just fantastic in every way imaginable.  We don't know what makes these people tick yet.

I agree with this, and I'm not easily put off by looks (not in videogames at least). I have no trouble romancing Garrus, for instance, and he didn't find him atractive at all... But it doesn't work that way with IB, I don't know why, it's like he crosses some knd of line. I guess he could become my favourite LI ever (if he is a LI at all) once I actually play the game, but I'm... let's say skeptical  :P

To be honest, I have no idea who I'll go for until I'm in game. I really need to hear them speak more. Looks-wise my tastes are pretty vanilla. Dorian certainly is handsome and the moustache (which I hated at first) is growing on me. I really just want him to be a kind sort... at least deep down. Give me an Alistair or Sebastian; a Kaiden or a Steve (or a gay Vega) and I'll be happy. Looks aren't super important to me (even though they were all pretty hot).

Well, I think Dorian is probably a good person at heart. I mean, he's left his country and his position of privilege and luxury to do what he thinks is right. He seems egotistical and maybe somewhat arrogant, but I do think he will be generally kind at heart. I think he cares about the common people and wants to help, but I also think he's spoiled and out of touch with them at the time we find him. Of course, we are working with limited information here.

It's funny, I think Sebastian is easily one of the best looking guys in the series, but I can't actually stand his personality at all. lol

They did mention in the "teams" discussion on Twitter that Vivienne and Dorian like to make fun of people's clothes and stuff. I'm sure that Dorian isn't going to be a typical gay stereotype, or anything like that, but I get why people think he and Vivienne both may be bitchy or snobby. I think it's less of a "gay thing" and more of a "spoiled rich kids of their demographic" thing, though.

This. Dorian may have been blessed with good looks and might sound a little vain, but I'm not really sensing the stereotype with him. All we know is that he's supposed to have a robust personality and that his charm is as lethal as his wit. Those kinds of traits are not exclusive to us gay men because they could easily belong to anyone else. The snobbiness really sounds more symptomatic of his privileged upbringing. After all, he was born to nobility and was most likely raised in a lavish environment his whole life.

The only objection that I could make it's that he sounds just too perfect, like he's handsome, and smart, and funny, and a talented mage, and brave, and independent, and idealistic...  But, tbh, since when a lover being just too perfect is a problem?  again, I'm really jealous

I hope you're right about Dorian. If he starts acting all superior, I hope I get the chance to tell him to knock it off. He and Viv sound like they need taking down a peg or two. Maybe it'll be part of his personal growth.

About Sebastian, it just goes to show that us gays have wildly varying tastes just like straight people. I know a lot of straight women really wanted Dorian and now that we have him to ourselves, I feel like it's a lot of pressure to actually take to him otherwise I'll seem ungrateful... when the opposite is true. I'll remain cautiously optimistic that they'll do a good job with him.

Ugh that sounds...completely unappealing =/ Might have me bench both him and Vivi. They can turn their noses up while sitting at the keep.

I mean it's one thing if it's my PC wearing something utterly ridiculous (especially since they're liable to do such intentionally and for trolling factor) but them ripping into other companions is probably where I'll draw the line.

I think it's understandable to be cautious or wary with what (little) information we know.  It can be interpreted in a multitude of ways with the DG interview blurbs.  Being the first gay dude in the DA franchise, I'm just hoping he is not pushed into a "sassy gay" stereotype corner more than he already is by some of the fandom (regardless of whether or not said fans are meaning it in joking ways).  It was irritating enough for me when the Sassy Gay Hawke meme went around with DA2.

Yeah, they've taken Dorian and turned him into... I don't know what exactly. The thing is, I get that a lot of straight women are into the m/m thing and generally I think the positive attention is a good thing. I've read some great m/m novels and comics that were written and created by women. A lot of it is crap but so is a lot of gay fiction written by men. What bothers me is the trend of emasulating some characters to the point that they are basically teenage girls with penises or the opposite trend of hyper-masulinisation where it's all bulging muscles/gruff voice/man-of-few-words/swearing/can't locate his feelings/likes big guns (and he cannot lie).

I know that guys who start every sentence with "Girl!..." exist and there are others who grunt rather than form syllables with their mouths but most gay guys are like straight guys. Some are skinny geeks with no game, some are studs; some are witty, some are morons, some are good guys, some are bad guys. People think stereotypes exist because in general they are representative of a certain community but in the gay community the stereotypes only portray the VISIBLE part of the community. People (even gay people) like to think they have good gaydar but in reality most guys wouldn't even cause a blip because they are Mr Joe Average.

So to those who are planning multiple run-throughs and romancing different people in them, of the revealed LIs, what order do you plan to do it in?

My planned order is

IB (if he actually is a romance)

Sera(May go to third)

Dorian (May go to second...I think after my first playthrough I'll know them both better and know which one would be more fun to romance)

Cassandra

And then either Cullen or Mystery third lady (I'm hoping Viv)

Unless there's more than 6 romance options in which case my whole plan is thrown askew

Vivi first, if I'm lucky.

Then Sera and Iron Bull.

No idea who else yet, since I dunno if I'll be forced to roll a dude for Cass or not, and Cullen's yet to win me over.

Based on the information given...

IB will be my first rodeo, provided he's a full-LI.  #ridethebull

Dorian may be my second, though it is a close tie with...

Sera as my third playthrough

Cassandra and Cullen I am very keen on, and will fall next in the order.  Though if either/both turn out to be bi, then that person/they may shoot up higher in The List.

I do.

As for first, Cassandra or Scribbles for first romancing of a female and Cullen or Iron Bull for first romancing of a male.

I'll mostly do 3 Playtroughs, although I have to "prepare" an Origins and DA2 Playtrough for that third One.

I am tending towards Vivienne for my first playtrough, but if she is not available for male Qunari Warriors, then it will be Scribbles.

The second Playtrough will see a female elven Mage. If Varric would be available for her, then that's what's going to happen. If not, I will try to get her to Cullen.

The third Playtrough would in my Head be a dwarven Rogue, Gender unspecified. If female, she might be romancing Sera or Varric (if he wasn't with my Elf), if male, he might go for Cassandra.

If I had to say now:

If Solas turns out to be really interesting

Spoiler
and availabe to girls, he would be the first. If Cass is available to girls, she would be the second. If I could bring myself to go with a male PC, Dorian would be the third. If none of these "if" happen, then it'd definitely be Sera, I'm liking her a lot so far. And then Cullen, then anyone else, then IB.

I have no problem if Dorian is a little bitchy and spoiled. To be honest, I don't want a perfectly nice or reserved guy. I'm quite happy, if he acts superior and arrogant and still makes mistakes. But that's, because I love this kind of personality in general. He'll be my first romance, then Iron Bull if he's available to men, then Cullen. <3

:D *laughs* When I think of the Iron Bull as a romance option (not for me), I think of two things. What's up with that tiny-ass head? And Worf in Star Trek who (IIRC), when asked why he wasn't in a relationship, replied, "I find human women to be too... Fragile."  ^_^ *snickers*

First Dorian, then Vivienne if she is available for f/f romance. Maybe Iron Bull next, if he is available to qunari Inquisitors of either gender.

And yet, he dated Troi and married Dax :) . (Trill aren't human, but they're not physically tougher.)

I don't know what order I'm going to do the romances in yet, only that I'll get to them all eventually. Hoping to start with Varric and then Cassandra, but that depends on Varric being a romance at all and Cassandra being bisexual.

Don't know if I'll go with a male pc, if I do, I'll do a playthrough with Dorian.

That's exactly how I feel.Garrus grew on me and he was my favorite Love interest. So I will have to see if the same thing happens again in DAI. The one I don't expect will be my favorite. But that is what I love so much about Bioware characters, they always seem to win me over, especially the unexpected.

If I recall correctly, that was Xil.

Right, that was me. I had a few other ideas for Tevinter to make it distinct from Orlais and the like, such as it containing a rigid and extensive legal code that's the main reason that the magisters haven't just descended into magical civil war yet to prove their own power, and for the use of nonmagical assassination techniques on other magisters to be seen in a remarkably disdainful light.

Well, there's Cassandra. It's incredibly unlikely that she'll be a lesbian.

You'll probably also get Vivienne, Scribbles or both.

First, kudos for being polite.   :D

Secondly, I am starting to empathize to a degree where some of the respectful straight men are coming from.  In part, it's because I'm pansexual and I'm getting curious about the other pan/bi options as well, which does include the ladies.  Also, I'll admit I'm a greedy git for romance information and I'm just wondering who is going to be available in general.

I also think the Chart is largely a lie and we've been Gaidered.   :P
