This may sound a bit strange, but my ultimate romance might end up chosen based on symmetry. I've noticed a lot of similarities between my Origins and DA2 playthroughs - even ignoring the rest of the party, the official coupling was of an elven mage and a human rogue - m/f the first time around, f/m the second time. Time for a human/human pairing of two warriors, or should I abandon the notion as of this newest instalment?

Well, unless you're planning on being a human rogue you'll be hard pressed to find one among this lot. If you're cool with human rogue, and seeing as how you played one in DA2 you must be, then it's time to hop on the Solas bandwagon and pray that he's romanceable by human females (or males if you're more picky about maintaining your character's gender than you are about maintaining the straight relationships trend).

Or you could play a female dwarven warrior and see if IB's willing to let her "ride the bull" just to deviate entirely from your usual pattern.

The human rogue in DA:I is (believed to be) Cole, who wouldn't be romancable. Solas is an elven mage but we don't know if he's available.

There is still a possibility though.

Both Cassandra and Cullen are warriors and we know both of them will be available for romance.

I would like to make two clarifications:

1) I am only interested in a straight relationship as a male PC.

2) Those weren't separate points - more like "I've already covered Mage and Rogue, so is there precedent to go Warrior?"

Well... Will that bring you happiness?

If so, then go for it.

Not really. Patrick Weekes said he "will hope into bed with anyone he's reasonably sure he won't break." While this does imply bisexuality, I've heard similar descriptions ("S/he'll sleep with anyone!") about people who are totally and completely straight. While I think it's enough to make me believe that Bull is bisexual, it's hardly enough to confirm it.

I think the 'will hope into bed with anyone he's reasonably sure he won't break' implies bisexuality with some race gating.

When do you think they will give us all the romance options?

Will they do it slowly or just get them all out at once?

I'm still actually quite surprised we found out Sera was an S/S romance over E3 (but it was from a third party, maybe it wasn't even intentional)

I can't remember how they did this with Origins and DA2

I'm pretty sure for DA2 we got the news about the different romances on Valentine Day.

I remember a bunch of screenshots from the romance scene , and it looked like Hawke and the LI were naked.

But I think we already knew Isabela was a romance.

I don't think they're going to reveal all at once though ,they still have 4 months to go to promote the game.

They could just be really evil and tell us NOTHING ELSE until like. a week before the game is due to release, you never know.

For Aimo's sake, I hope Blackwall is romancable. I already ship him and her Cadash so hard <3

I don't we're likely to hear much more for a while. I'd plump for September if I had to bet with remaining character unveiling a and odd titbits between.

There is still a few months before the game releases, i'd like little drips of information between now and then. Probably won't happen but if they are releasing more character info or screenshots or whatever, maybe toss some little romance hints in with it. It will be leaked as soon as the game goes gold anyway. Everything leaks as soon as the game is in the wild these days. Or maybe it will be a foreign magazine again :P

For Origins, Morrigan and Leliana were confirmed as romance options through the media hype tour, as they were used as examples in showing off LI and romance content to varying degrees.  Alistair was confirmed on the forums during that summer (or slightly earlier) prior to release.  Basically, all romances were known a good while before Origins hit the shelves.

For DAII, all romance options were released and confirmed on Valentine's Day, prior to the game's release.

Race Restrictions are not a issue for me unless certain Races Romances are poorly done and are inferior to the others content wise.I know alot of people that are complaining about the relevance of the Companion/Npc Romance situation I personally am ok with Npc Romances if there is an equal amount of content for them because at this moment we dont know who can romance who "Which Races".

Still the Non-Human races are in a pretty tight bind even the Elves are "Storywise at least as a Dalish Elf" unless B-Ware creates some top tier Npc Lis anyways the Dwarves and Qunari will have it worse depending on how strict the RR is but we will have to wait and see I guess.

I want all the Races to have Options available its not a matter of "Hey why cant my Qunquisitor romance Cass? or Why cant my DwarfQuisitor romance Viv?" to me as long as we the players have options available for all the races I am ok.

It was intentional, but they did not know the episode was going to run so soon.

It does suck that as a str8 male it seems my only option for a Li is Either Casandra or Vivian, and Casandra doesn't really interest me and I already Straight up hate Vivian.

Whys everyone assuming it's Vivienne as the third female LI?

Does Scribbles get no love?! D:

Also, yeah, how sad. God forbid you play as something other then a straight male.

I really want to romance him as a male elf, but if he's a LI at all that would be great! :D

I can understand someone being disappointed with options.  I was super disappointed with DA: O because my only option was Zev who I kind of can't stand.  It's a bummer.  I usually play the romance anyway because it's better than nothing, but it's never as satisfying as when I get to choose and there's someone who I really like (which, is really just Kaidan because he's the only male LI who I like and I get a choice for).

On the plus side, there's always Scribe Girl.  We don't know much about her but she's pretty and more "traditionally" attractive since she's got that long hair.  The only thing is that I think she's going to be kind of annoying based on the little hints we've gotten here and there about her.

People assume that all the females in the InnerInquisition are going to be romanceable and sideline the NPC one as being "Inferior".

I wouldn't want to romance an NPC either. I can't see how their content could be equal to that of a full-fledged party member.

They just don't travel around with you, what's the big deal?

I mean, are Cortez or Traynors romances devalued because they weren't squad members?

Its implied they do travel around with us this time. Just not as a party member.

No party banter, less screen time... yes, I would say they were devalued.

And it was especially lousy that they were the assigned "gay" characters. I'm not going to praise BioWare for throwing me scraps when the heteros get a feast.

There was no party banter in ME3, and Cortez at least seemed to get roughly the same amount of time with Shepard as let's say Kaidan.

Actually arguably, he got more

I'm willing to suspend my judgment until we see how the NPC romances work in DA: I.  We know that the advisors end up in the field with you.  We've seen Cullen and Leliana out of the keep, so it's very possible that they might have a more elevated role than in the past.  I'll say this:  If I had to choose between an NPC who I liked and thought was attractive and a companion who wasn't as interesting or attractive, I'd pick the NPC in a heartbeat.  In ME3, if my choices were Garrus/Javik or Steve, I'd go with Steve without a doubt.
