I personally think there'll be three 'general' (meaning without Considering the race gating) for everyone. I think two between Cass/Vivienne and Scribbles will be bisexual. Then I'm even more hopeful that's the case. It would be nice to see lesbians finally get to say, "Oh wow, do I try for Sera, or can I finally be with Cass? Holy crap, I actually have choices."

That's what I figured as well, but I'm still happy that the writers have created some lovely ladies that are making the LI choice hard for some groups for the first time. ![]()

A harder choice than Merrill vs. Isabela, at any rate.

I'd hope she's bi for the women that want to romance them. I honestly don't have a clue if she'll be straight or bi. Based on the knowledge we have, she might be both.
I feel like she's likely to be straight if there's 2/2/2. Cullen and scribe girl are likely to be the NPC LIs. I'm leaning forward to them making the straight companions which usually have more contents to be the straight option while Cullen and Scribe girl will be bi. It's just speculating at this point, but I don't think Bioware will relegate the straight options with the most buying demographic to NPC status. That's why I said straight folks don't need to freak out with the reveal of 2 gay characters since Bioware wouldn't ignore them regardless.

I kind of feel like Cassandra might be straight, because I feel like it could have always been guessed that Cassandra and Sera would be the most popular and they may have done an even split. I think the bi ones will be Scribbles and maybe Vivienne. I don't want to upset anyone, though. I'm not even going to romance a chick, so it's not like I actually have a vested interest in it. I'm totally fine with being wrong. ![]()

What would the point of that be? It'd be ideal for the less popular characters to be straight or gay, with the most popular ones being bi.

Because if one demographic gets both the most popular and the other gets only one, that demographic would be pissed.

I disagree, I don't think a characters fanbase or popularity plays that much of a factor

I agree, though for me it's the opposite then for you (not that I hate Merrill or anything).

But straight men would be able to romance both Cassandra and Scribbles regardless of which one was straight and which one was bi.

Yes, but they would probably rather romance Cassandra and Sera. Thus, there would be a lot of, "WHY DID THEY GET THE BETTER DEAL?!". Where as, with Cassandra and Sera being split towards exclusives, a lot less people would feel like one side got a better deal.

I'm desperately hoping that Cassandra's bi, which is a bad idea and really setting myself up for being potentially dissapointed which I could have avoided by just not having any expectations or hopes. My hope is that they'll go for a 2/2/2 route and that Scribbles will be the straight female NPC romance, which I realize does not sound incredibly likely because, well, as much as Bioware has been good in regards to these things, in a game with set sexualities I think expecting for the companion romances to be queer and the smaller NPC romance to be the straight one might be a bit too much. But still, against my better judgement, I am hoping. But hey, if Cassandra is straight, even if I never move past the Angry stage, I'll at least take comfort in Sera's existence and status as an actual canon lesbian LI and in Dorian's status as an actual canon gay companion (who may or may not be a LI) ![]()
By the way, though, on the other hand, it doesn't seem too unlikely at all that Cullen will be a straight NPC romance? Not that they haven't had previously shown more attraction to women male romances be bisexual options before, but Cullen seems like he would be very easy to keep straight. I think Dorian will be our gay male LI, but I'm totally drawing a blank on who our bi male LI will be. None of our current remaining guys really seem like very likely options...?

Honestly, I don't think the backlash would be strong enough to prevent them from having Cassandra be bi. Certainly not stronger than the backlash if they made her straight.

I think they'd do it for equal opportunities. With the companions being the gender-exclusive options and the NPCs being the bisexual options, each player regardless of orientation will have 1 companion option and one NPC option.

Unless, of course, there are two bisexual options for each gender.
In any case, Cullen has shown more signs of being straight than Cassandra.

I don't think they are thinking about some hypothetic backlash, I think LIs were genuinly choosen for their potential , rather than who wants to bone them the most.
A lot of people wanted to romance Sera with a Malequisitor, well too bad his writer wants her to be a lesbian.

This just in: The entire game does in fact NOT revolve around the romance subplot!
The writers probably didn't even offer it a second thought which of the characters would be the most popular and what sexuality they might each be. They write their characters the way they want them, and if they just so happen to turn out straight/bi/homosexual then that is a result of the writing and NOT because they have to match some sort of popularity availability quota.

Because Bioware hates straight men! Look at DA2, straigh male players got only two romances why females go three-five! WHY BIOWARE! WHY DO YOU HATE US!

True, but I'm not getting my hopes up. But then if they do that, then there is race-gating to consider as well. I see Vivienne being more in-character of racegating than Cassandra so I see Vivienne as being the bi companion if this is so.

I don't think it's going to be 2/2/2 with race gating, honestly. I think it might actually be 2/4/2, or maybe just an uneven number. It doesn't seem like 2/2/2 is enough to cover race gating, though.

Why not 2/4/2? My prediction is
Cassandra: straight
Cullen: Straight
Vivienne: Bi
Scribbles(give us her name already!): Bi
Solas:Bi
Iron Bull:Bi

That was my intentions...to be mysteriously joking and serious! DUN DUN DUN!!! But on a serious note, the DA2 romance balance was messed up. But I don't really think Bioware hates straight males...or do they?
