I'm assuming race gating won't ever cut humans out, just because they're by and far the most commonly played race. But I'm betting there's some who will just be humans and one other race (IB and Varric)

I'm betting race gating won't cut out humans (for the most part) because DA:I was initially prepared for a human protagonist, and those cinematics would have (or could have) been worked on before the 1 year delay, with some of these LIs having fixed orientations because the work expontentially increased with the addition of 3 extra races (read: 6 new character models for M/F).

Whereas for IB/Varric, these are characters who might be qunari and dwarf only, added as LIs after Bioware had extra time.

Why not take Vivienne as a straight option, then?

Sure if both Vivienne and Cassandra are romances options, having one as bi and one as straight works. My point was in response to comment suggesting straight romances should be forced to settle for NPC advisor romance as the straight option which wouldn't be fair.

Yeah, the responses about this topic were scattered in various threads.

Thanks for digging that quote up.

You should prepare yourself just in case, since it's happened in the past to gay players.  Plus DA:O wasn't fair or equal either.

If I had the choice, I wouldn't include NPC adviser romances at all, but then the Cullenites would get irked.

What if Vivienne was straight and Cass was bi then everyone would have 2 options or is it that since lesbians have Sera they should be punished by not having Cass.

If viv is a romance option then that is fine.

One of the E3 Trailers and demo shows that we can bring the Advisors with us on big story missions

In ME3 we encounter Miranda during sanctuary mission. That doesn't mean i got to involve her in all the rest of the quests i wanted unlike those who got companion romances. If we can bring them on every mission then they'd be companions not advisors.

There's every reason to view advisors as less valuable to companions as time spent with companions(admitted to by some devs in past) has always been a factor in embellishing romance content(which because of its optional status is never going to get full bells and whistles content)

No, there's no "every reason", especially when the advisors share group shots of "The Inquisition"; the fans are the ones separating companions and advisors, not the devs. Nothing proves that companions LI's will have more content than advisors LIs.

If it happens i'll give them negative feedback for moving from system which provided equality(Da2) to one of unequality.

Don't see why i shouldn't voice my strong opposition in advance too.

Are there already information about Leliana being a romance option again? I'd like to stick with her, since I wanted to choose her in Origins but ultimately decided to pick Morrigan for my grey warden.

She's been confirmed not to be romanceable.

No, she won't be a romance in Inquisition.  Any advisers that were LIs in previous games won't be available.  That includes Morrigan as well, if you were thinking about it in DA:I.   Sorry.   :(

There's every reason unless  we can bring advisors on every quest(which i'll then be confused as to why they are called advisors not companions)

I was perfectly happy with the DA2 system, personally, and I was surprised that they didn't continue with it.

Although it is cool that there is now gay representation with Dorian and Sera.

Being able to bring your LI does not automatically gives you party banter referencing your romance, as anyone who romanced Leliana witrh a Femwarden will tell you.

It was easier for them to write deeply what they wanted about the stories around the characters. With the playersexual thing, it would be more difficult, since everything that concern their past relationships, their sexuality, etc, should remain ambiguous. Isabela was bisexual, so it was okay.

It's likely that David Daider couldn't write a few things about Dorian, if it was in the playersexual system.

The scripts for the romance (sex) scenes were ready to mo-cap last September going by this dev teasing.

Like me, since I've only played Femwardens.  This is very true, sadly.  There isn't even a "can I get a smooch" option like there is with Alistair, which did make me a little bummed.

As i said earlier, since romances are optional content with limited resources applied to them, additional content through companion banter and bond of travelling together etc has always played role in deepening romantic experience(there's been dev comments to this effect too)

Romances were obviously given a bump in resources this time around.

Also, an advisor romance can very well be refrenced in party banter, especially since the party banter is now interactive.

(I really liked to small lines of a romanced Samatha after missions in ME3, Liara for all her romance content didn't have those)

Ah, that sad. Well nevermind. :) Maybe there is someone who fits even better. I think Cassandra is pretty interesting though and I'm pretty curious about other new characters, that are introduced in the near future maybe

There was a smooch option for Alistair? Party banter about your Li? I didn't realize how much I missed.

I think the last thread left off with euphemisms about how big Iron Bulls schlong would be.

So how big it should be?

Other characters could Banter about the romance with them..I'm hoping you see a lot of neat interactions in whatever home base you have that they're at

And they seem more "important"''"''''''' '' ' to the story than most companions so there be a bond via that, different doesn't mean terrible...even if it's not all to different at all. so far i haven't seen a huge difference in a few things anyway.

odds are someones going to get an npc option as half(or less if they do more than 2/2/2) their options and idk if going on about how other people than you should have it because how bad it's going to be.
