There's every reason unless we can bring advisors on every quest(which i'll then be confused as to why they are called advisors not companions)
Your romance doesn't get referenced in every single quest you do

Relationship with LI doesn't just get built through romantic interludes. Every moment with them plays its part in the bond of relationship.
I'm thinking there will be romance banter when we're at our keep, too, and not just on the road traveling. They might wander around the area a la ME3 & we'll find the advisors chatting with the party companions about us, our missions, etc etc. I'm not worried about content, honestly.

Yea, I think the Keep and hub areas are gonna play out like ME3. So we'll definitely hear banter outside of quests too

And somehow having the companion along CONSTANTLY attributes to the romance subplots? ![]()
I'm sorry but I see no reason to degrade advisor romances to second grade, simply because they aren't companions.
Obviously, I mean Obviously. There will be a straight companion options for men and women.
Women will get: Varric, Blackwall or Solas!
and then Cullen! will probably be a Bi NPC
Men will get: Vivienne or Cassandra(Actually probably both since the other will probably be BI)
And Scribbles will probably be a BI NPC
So congratz guys most likely all the remaining women are options!
That's not actual "romance content".
Romance content is extremely limited because it is optional content. There have been comments from devs in past regarding this and how players have to buy into wider character content because this optional nature means it will never be extremely deep. Just as in real life love doesn't develop just from sexy time but through all the little things that attract and make you fall in love with someone.

And in the past they did have the resources they did now

Sure, but if the advisors travel with you and are at your random camps, that's clearly "time with them". If the advisors have the same number of interactions with you as a party member - basically if they have the dialogue/cinematic content of the other 9 party members, I just don't see how the fact that their 3D model isn't with you physically matters.

Advisors clearly can't travel with party in open world or during encounters, otherwise they'd be called companions not advisors.

I never said otherwise. What I asked you was to explain why it matters having a 3D character model next to your PC, if you get the identical amount of interaction via cutscenes/dialogue, and if the advisor travels with you to your camp?
Also, an important E3 trailer spoiler (from my POV, which is total blackout but I looked at a gameplay video on mute and saw this one cutscene):
We might not have our advisors directly in our party, but we'll clearly be seeing them quite often. They'll be playing major roles in the story, and we'll come home to them at the end of the day even if they're not involved in a particular quest. I don't see any reason why the advisor romances can't be just as fulfilling as those with companions.

Sten and Oghren sure follewed me around since they were in every single camp of DAO.
There was a smooch option for Alistair? Party banter about your Li? I didn't realize how much I missed.
Yes, you can randomly go, "Hey, give me a kiss" even outside of camp. Also, the other party members will remark on your relationship, to varying degrees of hilarity.

But what if I want them there with me to complain and lose affection when I burn down orphanages and kick puppies?!?!?

Huh. Hard to argue with that logic, but it seems counter-intuitive to a romance.

Spoiler.
Experiencing events side by side matters
Also don't for a minute think overall banter/interaction will be same for companions vs non companions. Companions will be with us for a multitude of hours in open world, so don't see them taking vows of silence.
Advisor being in one quest out of 100 doesn't equate to large number that companions will be able to partake in. If we can involve them in every quest why would they be called advisors.

You keep saying it matters, but I'm asking, how does it matter? Why does it matter? If they react to those events back at camp, what difference does it make? Is my romance with Leliana less good or legitimate if I think rogues suck and don't want to take them with me?
I'm not trying to be snarky. I honestly don't get it.

Example...when I see a guy that I might work with at the office or his place of business, it's more of a crush. Couple of conversations, maybe we have to head in the same direction for whatever reason so 'get to travel together briefly'. It's a superficial relationship. (I don't develop interest in someone to the point where I think....I WANT this person from low-level interactions.)
Someone I work with closely, every day, am put into dangerous situations with, who is there when I make a decision or action in front of them and they react to it (is there to EXPERIENCE IT vs hearing about it and then reacting retroactively), can have conversations with, travel with me.....THAT's developing a relationship. Even outside of 'romance specific conversations and interactions'. (This sort of day to day experiencing things at the same time as me is what makes me interested in someone.)
NPC sits back at the stronghold and maybe joins me for one jaunt in 6 months of time? But I can talk to them when I get back to stronghold to sell my crap or do a save game? Or whatever reason I'm back at stronghold? Yeah, not as deep feeling as being 'put in the tick of things' with a companion.
Not looking forward to the very real possibility that there may be NO 'mine only' companion character to chose from.
In real life, many people have romantic relationships with partners who are not their coworkers. Those relationships are not less for that.
I love the romance aspect of Dragon Age, but it doesn't need to be present in every moment of play in order for it to be worthwhile.
I'm going to guess who the LI's will be + the one's that we already know.
Scribbles: Male/Female
Vivienne: Male/Female
Iron Bull: Male/ Female
Dorian: Male
Cassandra: Male
Sera: Female
Cullen: Female
What if Vivienne was straight and Cass was bi then everyone would have 2 options or is it that since lesbians have Sera they should be punished by not having Cass.
What are you saying? What's wrong with Vivienne being bi?
