As for TW, I don't know if they were limited in some way by the author of the books, but I understand why they went in that direction. Other the being a small team compared to Bioware (expecially at the time of the first game), Geralt is the protagonist of the books, and for what I know (so far I've read a book, and started another), there aren't female Witchers (there's an half-exception, but I won't to in details).

Removed some posts.
Reminder, please restrict displays of schadenfreude. While I can understand a feeling of "aha, now you know how I feel" in general I want to keep antagonistic posts down in this thread.
I removed most of The Witcher talk mostly because it spawned from similar posts and I didn't feel like retroactively altering posts to remove the references to deleted posts. I'm okay if you wish to compare with The Witcher, but remember to be understanding that some people prefer Dragon Age over The Witcher, some prefer The Witcher over Dragon Age, and to keep it civil and courteous. It's okay if someone doesn't like The Witcher. It's okay if someone is a big fan of The Witcher.
Thanks.

I might not be sure about it, but the trailer just show a female character. I don't get how this is an indication that female PC will be possible. I don't know if CDPR said something in this regards, but I hope they'll do it.

They haven't as yet. They said there would be "in depth character customisation" but gender wasn't mentioned. I would be surprised if you weren't allowed to choose your character's gender though, with this being a new IP (well, it's based off the table-top rpg) they have more free reign to do what they want in regards to the protagonist.

Race restriction for romance...
isn't this racist?
"Oh, he's white. I'm Asian. Asian aren't suppose to like white boy. So no I can't like him. Even though he's so nice to me and all"
Sexual orientation is one thing I don't like but I'll probably accept it at one point. But this race thing is a bit over the line for me.
I thought Bioware game was about freedom of choice. Not "if you want to get close with A, pick race B only."

Technically Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Qunari are different species, not races.

I'm just going to still hold on to the hope that Cassandra is race unrestricted until I hear otherwise (fingers crossed for male dwarves
). Otherwise I'll have to play a heavily bearded human and pretend he's a dwarf.

I know it isn't. I just don't think "racist" is the correct term to use in this instance.

Well, we have only been human in ME, so we can't say for sure. But i guess that a character like Ashley woudn't romance a person of another race. Not sure about the other humans.

Well, it is being referred to as a "race" restriction rather than a "species" restriction. Just saying.

We were humans but we romance Garrus and Liara. Isn't that cross species relationship?

I know, which is why I said "technically" I myself use the term race because it's what everyone else on these boards does, and if I said species, it would likely confuse people.

Biologically speaking separate species should be unable interbreed, but we know that's not true (at least of elves & humans) because of characters like Feynriel.

And regardless, I wanna see the romance start and then Aveline. My male inquisitor may not know Sera's preferences at first. She might think he's playing for awhile and goes along with it for a few dialogues.

Given how similar hurlocks and genlocks are, I wondered if humans and dwarves are more closely related than elves and qunari.

How is a character not finding attractive someone of another species racist?

Biologically speaking, we don't have the faintest clue how biology works in Thedas.

Well, that's true but we haven't had any sort of indication that Elves, Dwarves etc are just different offshoots of humans.

well, there are certain animals as well, who can interbreed in rare opportunities. for examples tigers and lions. their babys are called hybrid and they're infertile.

Whys everyone assuming it's Vivienne as the third female LI?
Does Scribbles get no love?! D:
Also, yeah, how sad. God forbid you play as something other then a straight male.

scribble is semi confirmed because they said there are "some" advisors available as romance options. one is cullen, and since leliana is'n available, the other one must bescribble.
