To expound upon: Alistair may not have had to take lyrium to maintain his abilities during DAO, but Gaider did confirm your require lyrium for the abilities. And I believe one of the Alistair comics after DAO establishes that he started taking it again afterwards.

Just a minor quibble for me, personally, I'm more inclined to accept things that are actually stated in-game over things writers say after the fact.

 

Alistair says he didn't take Lyrium in Origins. That means he didn't take Lyrium- even if Gaider swears up and down that he did. This of course doesn't preclude him from taking it again in the comics (Though I don't remember that at all... it's been a while since I've read them, though) but in the game, he did not.

Are there any characters where the romance option is unavailable for a specific player class (such as mages)? For example Cassandra hates mages, so it "might" be not possible to romance her. Does anyone know about this?

with orientation and race gating I really doubt they are also going to do class gating. That would be crazy! lol

While  nothing has been said directly, I think it's extremely unlikely they'll add class gating to go with both gender, sexuality and some race gating.

 

_{Cassandra doesn't hate mages, according to the research I've done.  She hates blood mages, and is wary of mages as a whole, but hate is too strong of a word.  DotS takes places roughly about 15-20 years prior to the events of Inquisition.  She could have changed quite a bit by now.}

I don't think Cassandra hates mages. She had accumulated hate toward certain mages (aka dragon cult blood mages) that she externalized toward all mages at some point, but she grew out of it since.  It might be a bit more difficulty to go through her shell has a mage, but I don't expect class gating.

A survey was leaked some time ago detailing the information of aspects of DA: I such as companions' names, romance options, etc. Much of the info on it has been proven true so far though there have been certain parts of it that were wrong. 

 

I do not have a direct link to it but I'll see if I can find it or someone else could post it for you.

What's the survey theory?

 

Some people think the position of the characters in the survey image has meaning. The second column characters are the Inquisitor (both genders). Then you have 6 characters which resulted in a LI theory that was thrown around like a year ago long before we knew who were some of the people in the images.

 

The theory:
Blackwall/Cassandra are bisexual romances because they come before the Inquisitors.

Cullen/Scribble are straight romances because they are in the row of the opposite gender.

Sera/Dorian are the gay romances.

 

We don't even know if those images were presented like that in the survey and it's over 2 years old and before they got the 1 year extension to add player race, but so far Sera/Dorian are the gay romances and Cassandra/Cullen are know LI so...

Ah thanks for the clarification guys. I knew about the leaked survey but didn't realize there was a theory based on spacing of the companions!

 

I sure hope Cass is bi. If Cass is straight and Solas isn't available either I don't know what my fquisitor will do... romance Sera maybe, providing her (understandable of course) opinion of Cole can change.

The original survey images included a scroll bar, so we do actually know the order in which they were presented.

 

 

 

 

Trying to extrapolate the romances from *that*, though, is pretty silly.

It's a bit too tenuous to make any real connections, but there might be something there.

 

It also makes a bit of sense knowing that the extra time could have allowed them to add in another LI or two, but with restrictions (hence race-gating).  Maybe it was too difficult for them to make an IBxDwarf animation, but with extra time, they thought it would be okay to add him in as an "extra" romance, but only for humans and qunari.

 

I don't know, I'm just spit-balling here.  I'm not even convinced that this was a survey that showed LIs.  If so, I'd predict:

 

Straight:  Cullen, Scribe Girl

Bisexual:  Cass, Blackwall, IB (human and qunari only)

Gay:  Sera, Dorian

 

Straight guys:  Cass, Scribe Girl

Straight gals:  Cullen, Blackwall, IB (human and qunari only)

Gay guys:  Dorian, Blackwall, IB (human and qunari only)

Lesbians:  Cass, Sera

I'm going to agree with Elite though, it seems kinda off to assume sexuality based on those pics. I know it's just theory but, still.
