Why do people think The DA team bases its romances on the whims of straight men?Another poster was talking about Vivienne and how straight men would be disappointed if she were the only straight woman available. David told him BioWare didn't care.

Well, until Bioware proves me wrong. At the end of the day, it would still be about making money.

There is something to be said for the very naturalistic, rugged type.  I can't find the right word...less negative or comical connotations than tree-hugging hippie, but in that ballpark...

 

He sounds calm, mature, respectful, well adjusted and sane.

I can't wait to see Cullen. Hopefully they haven't changed him all too much as I am really confused about who I am going to have on my team and possibly romance. Dorian reminds me so much of Freddie Mercury (my dad was a Queen fan) and Solas of Nicolase Cage it's unreal! Cullen and Iron Bull ftw. I hope.

Wow a picture of Solas where he doesn't look shiny? And some information on him? And he sounds fairly stable? Um yesh, yesh please. Not sure if he'll be an LI though sounds like he likes to keep to himself but he sounds stable and after DA2 thats all I really want anymore is a male LI who isn't extreme or pants on head crazy xD. I am easily swayed >>;

I agree, he needs to be a straight option. The ladies someone good as well for their companion options, seeing as Blackwall may be too old, Ironbull seems to be promiscuous, and Varric still has a hot for Bianca and likely not gonna be a romance option.

I agree that Solas sounds quite good... As for he being a LI, I guess we can assume that if he is one at least it's not going to be race-gated? (because of the "Solas hates people who look at him and just see an elf") I now nobody has given much credit to that possibility anyway   , but I considered it for a moment today, and no, it doesn't seem likely

Yeah and without racegating it'd make sense if he was straight.

It does sound like Solas sees race as a total non-issue. 

 

Although, I guess we never know with race gating. A lot of our assumptions are based on how a character feels about a race in a political sense, but some just might have aesthetic preferences that doesn't come with a real explanation other than "they like what they like".

 

Still, though, Solas doesn't seem to care about image or social constructs. I think he would likely not be race gated.

Solas either won't be a romance or we're going to get something less calm and even-keeled than presented.

Or he gets a life-threatening disease. That's always a possibility.

Maybe the drama will come from the rest of the companions thinking he's a bad influence. That'd be enough D:

 

Also hopefully DA BW would've learned that no melodrama is not needed for a decent romance as Garrus clearly shows.

Fantastic forum and good thing it is back with a better tune than last... Missed discussin' "sensitive" game subjects. Just hope I'll get to the point I don't get borred when it comes to charakters. Even somtimes forgot Fenris was in the ga,e... Not kidding... Even called my dog Fenris... :S Hope all char's are lovable and awesom in DA:I

Varric might be the only character ever that didn't come with a lot of drama. I usually expect it from everyone. lol

 

If Solas is an LI, though, I imagine his arc will be dealing with getting close to people, since he's a huge loner type.

Jacob was BioWare's attempt at a nice, well-adjusted LI. People didn't like him.

That does make sense.  Unless hypocrisy is part of his character, if he doesn't like people defining him first and foremost as "elf," he would likely look past height and horns as well.

Not having an drama filled romance would be nice for a change after all the fade tares should be drama enough right?

Well the drama is overdone IMO , even in light hearted romance ...like Isabela , it's like they feel like they need to put something to cry about.

I never cared one moment about her feeling guilty and unworthy of love.

She's all about being confident .

I'd rather have something like Isabela likes to sleep with other people and won't change her lifestyle for your pc.

This was interesting to me , but you just have to say "Hold on Isabela don't sleep with Zev."
