Well, isn't their that group bar that slowly fills up and when it does you can use special moves? Well, what if when you have a companion you are friends with, that bar slowly fills faster? And if they are a LI, it fills up even faster than if they were just friends with you? So if your squad consists of two friends and a LI, it is at the peak of its filling rate.

Kind of like in DA2 when you got friendship or rivalry high enough? That could be pretty cool though they couldn't be too big since the romances are optional and I could see people easily complaining about only getting a stat from a character if you romance them. But it would still be fun.
They could give us a bonus for getting any companion to a certain point (like if they have personal quests, give a bonus once those are completed) but the flavor text on the LIs' bonuses could be different.

That could work. It's the same stat bonus, it's just explained different. I like it! ![]()

Now that we've heard from all the companions and have heard some of the LI confirmations, here's how I figure it will all pan out:
Cassandra=Straight
Cullen=Straight
Vivienne=Bisexual
Iron Bull=Bisexual
Sera=Lesbian
Dorian=Gay

In exchange, if you are friends with the advisers they get you better rates. And if an LI, even better than if they are just friends.

Thinking.
I kinda think Solas is going to have a romance now.. I didn't at first but now I do. if Iron Bull and Duorian are romances too along with Cullen that means four male ones...
Leliana isn't going to be a romance and four other female companions and advisor.
I'd bet on them not having it be a equal 4 to 4 romance gender split but it is possible that that would happen.
I still think Vivienne and Solas are the least likely to have a romance not as unlikely as Varric, Blackwall and cole...

I don't really like "romance specific content" other than just the dialog and scenes you get for the relationship. I don't think it needs to be more than that. The relationship adds to the story for what it is and that's enough for me. When you start adding extra quests and stats, I think it just takes away from platonic relationships.

Maybe they could have a stat bonus, too? "Cullen has brought you under his protection, you take less magic damage." "Scribbles as brought you under her protection, all merchants give you a 10% discount."
Honestly, I'd rather they just kept the stat bonuses to having high ratings with characters, generally. I don't really feel like you should get a game mechanics boost for doing romances and I don't really like the implication that romantic relationships are more important than your platonic ones.
To some degree, I like the implication. I can see where it would be off-putting, but remember Wynne telling the warden that love is ultimately selfish?
In a game about choice, I like my choices to have consequences.

Yeah, like for example using Cullen:
A military asset will cost 50 agents to obtain. If you are friends with him, it is lowered to 45. If he is your LI, it is lowered to 40.

I remember Wynne saying it, but I didn't agree with her then. lol
I think your choices should matter, but I think a romance should just have the same consequences as a friendship path. Either should be treated as a relationship in high regard, imo. They said that they wanted to make friendship more important in this game, also, and I don't really think this is the way to do that.

I don't really like mechanical rewards for romances. They should be there own reward
I suppose I wouldn't mind if there was also a "focused on the mission" stat boost for Inquisitors who don't do the romances

That could work, too.
Maybe there could be a bit of a penalty, like every time one begins a new romances, one gets the "Only Eyes for You" stat and one takes a penalty to accuracy, for a limited time.

These have been my guesses for a while;
Cassandra - Straight
Solas - Straight
Sera - Lesbian
Dorian - Gay
Vivienne - Bi
Iron Bull - Bi
Cullen - Bi
Scribbles - Bi
But I would trade Iron Bull as the bi option for literally any other male, so I hope I'm wrong. lol

My predictions (including a bit of wish-fulfillment, I suppose)
Cullen- Straight
Varric- Straight (dwarf only) (please?)
Vivienne- Straight
Solas- Bisexual (pretty please?)
Iron Bull- Bisexual (qunari and human only)
Cassandra- Bisexual (I'll get to making my firstborn, if that's what it takes!)
Scribbles- Bisexual
Sera- Gay
Dorian- Gay

Scribbles
Vivienne
Gay:
Dorian
Sera

But if it is still just 2/2/2, I'd take Vivienne and Iron Bull out of the mix and leave it as is. With race gating, I'm thinking 2/4/2 for now, though.

Switch Vivienne for Cassandra and you're good.
I actually think that Vivienne is more likely to be straight than Cassandra.. but I think "Scribbles" is more likely to be bi than Cassandra.
And I would normally discount my thoughts on any prediction but I was right about Sera and Dorian...Soooo I think for a lot of reasons that..
Vivienne is going to be straight(kinda of a sad thought) and maybe an love interest
Cassandra will probably create a large void of sadness cause I think she'll be straight there If there is only Three female love interests'
Cullen or Solas as straight or both of them..
Iron Bull and Scribbles(who I know NOTHING about) will be bi no matter how many Lis' there are. so long as they are love interests
And already know Dorian and Sera.
But I think I've been wrong before.

While I see Varric being dwarf and straight, I doubt BioWare will invest time and money into something that is only available to the less played archetype character from DAo: female dwarf.

I was trying to think of ways that the romances could have some sort of payoff without the game being a dating sim. I'd like to see quests one gets only through romances, or stat bonuses, or something. Offend the wrong people and assassins start coming after the LI, something.
Not a fan of this tbh. I think the romances are their own reward for those that like them so much. The only content that those who choose to not start a romance should miss out on is the romance content itself. I don't like the idea of missing out on whole quest lines because I didn't romance a particular character.

Shush with your logical logic.
Although, if they wanted to increase the number of dwarf players, making Varric a dwarf only romance would be the best way to do it.
