I would start a drinking game every time someone says IB will be gated, but I don't think I have enough money for all the booze...

Not a fan of this tbh. I think the romances are their own reward for those that like them so much. The only content that those who choose to not start a romance should miss out on is the romance content itself. I don't like the idea of missing out on whole quest lines because I didn't romance a particular character.
Sadly, my love of Garrus prevents me from getting this:
I can see where one would feel left out. I tend to DO romances for that reason, a little icing on the cake. Someone weighing in suggested that, were they (and they probably won't) to implement such a thing, having a "focuses on the mission" stat.
Were they to do such a thing (and they probably won't, not in DAI anyway), I think they could find a balance. One gets "Under X's protection" if in a romance, and "Focused on the Mission" if not in an active romance. One gets quest X, Y, or Z if in a romance, depending on the companion, but gets quest A if not romanced.

I think you would be dead of alcohol poisoning before you ran out of money.

I'll be honest, if Solas and Cullen were both straight LIs and IB was the only bi option, I would be pissed. lol

His bio suggests he doesn't mind race. Or gender.
While I see Varric being dwarf and straight, I doubt BioWare will invest time and money into something that is only available to the less played archetype character from DAo: female dwarf.
Varric's so popular, if they make him a love interest I don't think people are just going to ship dwarves with him.
If it's a technological limitation, I just have to deal, but if they're being gated because it "makes sense," that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I think that should be one's inquisitor's decision.

I'm tired of getting less options than at least one demographic in every single game.

Exactly that's why I don't get people saying he would be gated.

That's what I liked about playersexual. If there were three female LIs, then there were three female LIs whether PC was male or female.

So...DA2 bothered you? Since f/m players had 3 options to pretty much everyone else's 2.

Iron Bull's physical model does little for him. I want him a LI purely because he is qunari. He'd still interest me if he were human or an elf or a dwarf or whatever, because I like his type, but based on his physical model? Not really.
Similarly, I don't find Solas that interesting to look at, or Cullen, or Dorian. None confirmed as a LI, confirmed homosexual or otherwise, really jump out at me and say ROMANCE ME TO YOUR INQUISITOR!!
'Cept Varric, and I have my doubts, depending on the day.
I just don't have enough information to know what I think right now. Had I kept up with DA2's production, I'd have been the same way, maybe except for Anders, and not because I liked him all that much in Awakening so much as he's a return.
I'm bound to find one I like, probably even a favorite. If they confirm that Iron Bull and Varric are NOT LIs, I move on.
For all we know, they haven't released info on Scribbles because she's the most awesome romance destined to be the favorite and this game's Varric. We just don't know yet.

Yes.
Huh.
To each their own. As long as I had decent choices I wouldn't mind someone having 1 more choice than me.

Straight:
Cassandra
Female Advisor
Dagna(I've seen mentioned that she will play a role in the Inquisiton, and my Dwarf warrior needs a female Dwarf so this is blind hope)
Varric(likely gated to other Dwarves)
Cullen
Bi:
Vivienne
Solas
Cole(he's a spirit, so was Anders, deal with it)
Gay:
Dorian(confirmed)
Sera(confirmed)

Maybe I would feel that way if the "one more choice" had literally ever been on my side. Way more often it's been "no choice". It gets old when it's never, ever one more choice for you.

Oh like we didnt all shriek for joy when honestatrrunner updated a few months ago
I didn't get the reference... Maybe I should be ashamed? I didn't even know Homestar Runner was a thing until I googled it. I don't know it that makes me less cool or more cool or even which is better anymore. It's still cool to be uncool right? Because if that's changed, I'm f**ked ![]()

So do I, but It's just not something I would be happy about being implemented. I don't see it happening anytime soon though. People tend to forget, but the romances are optional content , as long as they stay that way I can't see Bioware spending time and money (that could be used elsewhere) to make entire quests that only a fraction of the player base will ever access.

True, but the romances are a VERY popular part of the game.
I was just trying to think of ways to give it more impact, but not such that it becomes a dating sim.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, in my opinion Cole is a better option than Blackwall, dude is going to die soon, and I really hope BioWare doesn't do another Thane. And a better option to Iron Bull, he's far larger than everyone else.

Eh females had one more romance option than straight males a whooping one time. (Da2). I felt the same way even back in JE days. All i wanted was Zu ;_;

I agree if straight males end up with Cassandra, Vivienne and Scribbles and lesbians end up with Scribbles and Sera I will be pissed too. Now if I get Cassandra and Sera I will be to happy to even notice.
