I noticed the "bad women" comment about Iron Bull and Cole, also. It makes me wonder if he's going to be more "Zevran bi", in that he talks more about women, if he isn't straight.
Hopefully not. That's a very "safe" way to have a male bisexual character.

Does it really take away that much time though?
Dragon Age is equal parts role playing and combat. The romances and character interactions are part of the role playing aspect which is part of the actual game.
In the end, development time spent on any aspect of the game, means that there is less development time for other aspects. Every line of dialogue spent on the romance subplot, means that there is one less line of dialogue in the game proper.

Au contraire! If I had my way every companion would be an LI.
And Bioware doesn't want to do that
I don't see why people would want to deny content that would make others happy. If you don't want to romance someone, then don't. If you do, well the option is there.
The tricky part would be whether or not the writers would be able to make each and every one a unique and interesting story but...I think it could be done successfully. I believe Bioware is capable of it. That doesn't mean they'll do it of course but...I believe they could pull it off successfully.
It's not about denying content

I find it completely odd to ignore the LIs in ME3, just because you have to import to get them. They are in the game. They can be romanced. Why aren't they counted?
Just because they require an import doesn't mean that they don't count. It seems as if people aren't counting them just because you might not be able have access to them. That would be like me saying that there were only 2 LIs in ME3 because I choose to only play as a gay guy. How does choosing not to import a saved game negate the other LIs?
No, there were ten LIs in ME 3: Ashley, Kaidan, Liara, Miranda, Garrus, Tali, Jack, Kelly, Samantha, and Steve. They were all in the game and were LIs who unlocked the romance achievement. They count.

I really really REALLY hope not, I get that people have preferences but I'd rather not have an LI telling me that they prefer the opposite gender of my PC while in a romantic relationship with them. If he is an LI at all I don't want him talking about how he prefers women to an male PC he's involved with.

Because it takes away precious development time from, you know, the ACTUAL game?
I wonder why are you posting on the romance thread if it means so little to you... What positive input could you make if you believe it takes resources away from content you deem more important?
That was a polite way of saying "stop trolling my ass". I love the romance content and so does everyone else here. It is WHY we are here.

^As a woman that would like to romance him, this. Just don't talk about banging other people at all.

You do realise Nocte's a gay guy right?
Yes...why?

I know how you feel and it may be reading way too much into one line, but it struck me as an odd assumption.

Maybe, it could also just be Weekes' and FPJ's own heterosexuality influencing the way they talk about the character. If IB is bisexual though I would imagine that Weekes would be more cognizant of that when he was actually writing Bull than just talking more informally in an interview?
It's also possible that Bull is straight and we're completely misinterpreting the interview

Last I checked it was a DISCUSSION thread and not an appreciation thread. Which means you will have to take the good with the bad. Deal.

So was Cole being unavailable, but you listed him.
I'm still sad on that. I love Leliana, and her new appearance is absolutely gorgeous.
Thought I said something to the effect of "except Cole"? I know he isn't a LI...the notion of it seems to give the devs the creeps.

UGH. THIS WAS THE WORST....>!
Sorry for the caps. This is the main reason why I can't stand the Zevran romance. It was really obvious that, unlike Fenris, the Zev romance was not written with gay guys in mind.

I played ME3 forst without importing a save or using the Genesis 2 comic and the options you had were your pre-service history (space/colonist/earthborn), psychological profile (war hero/sole survivor/ruthless) and who you saved on Virmire. Every new player had a romance option available to them.
Nope. A gay male Shep always had Steve, A gay FemShep always had Liara and Traynor, A straight male Shep always had Liara even if he chose Kaidan over Ashley, a straight female always had...no one. If you didn't save Kaidan and you didn't romance Garrus in ME2 a straight femShep would have zero options.
Now I'm not saying female players didn't have it better than gay males cause they did. But saying every new player always had a romance option with their preferred sexuality is not true.
Edit:
Sigh...are we still discussing ME3 romance options, AGAIN ?
I'm not against going on topic on occasion but this whole "gay guys have it better in ME3 - no it's the straight women" thing already came and went....several times, can we please give it a rest ?
I can't resist. ![]()

Granted, in hindsight, I was but a young child enjoying his first m/m LI, so I might be a tad biased towards Zev.

Seems like. Gotta have it every 50 pages, you know.
Speaking of optional content, I'd be quite happy if combat became optional content feature. Click a button and skip it.

Yeah and how he kind of asks a femWarden if she's okay with him being bisexual was...awkward.

Fereldans aren't as lenient about...dancing as Antivans or Orlesians. Maybe he was over-compensating?

Yeah maybe. Leliana didn't try to dance around the issue nearly as much.
