I want them to give us the chart, but I think they'll announce the advisors first, if they're going to.
Scribbles is probably on the chart and we don't know her name yet. lol
I really hope that is the reason they are not releasing it yet.

Romance is not the only reason I play BioWare games, but it is an important factor for me. In our mass media, across all forms, same-sex relationships and *positive* queer heroes are a very, very, very small and rare minority. Being able to be a gay character of my choosing and my own design, and craft a story that I want to see, a story that is hardly ever told and represented, is incredibly important to me. As I am certain it is for many young adults in general, especially based on how many stories we witness from the fandom about how surprised they were that they could have same-sex content and play as a gay protagonist, and what that meant to them.
Is romance the only and defining component to BioWare games? No. Companions and generally deeper interactions and complex interactions and interpersonal relationships are a unique feature. Many games let you play as a main character, but with hardly any meaningful interactions with anyone outside of 'help, kill bandits' and 'cool, you're so powerful, hero, you are the speshul Dragonborn Messiah Prophecied Chosen One Hero!' But for me, it gets boring when you're in a relatively silent world by yourself. Skyrim is beautiful and there is a lot of environmental storytelling and things you can explore, but the people and plots always ring hollow for me. Plot/Characters are not why I play Bethesda games. Plot/Characters are, however, why I play BioWare games. And reactive choice-driven options. Losing aspects of that would make a less satisfying experience to me.

We're reading typed words. It can easily be misinterpreted because its not like we can detect emotion. Unless you use ":P" or some other symbol
And there goes the neighborhood...
NO ONE said that romance was a waste of resources. NO ONE. [...]
What people HAVE been saying, is that romances are, and will remain, optional content that appeal to a niche of players in a major way. Most players would probably be perfectly happy with one additional large sidequest, than with one additional romance option.
To summarize: BioWare shouldn't spend too much of the budget on romances, since A) It is a niche audience who will appreciate it and
the resources spent on it, CANNOT be reallocated and used to enhance other aspects of the game.

Inflammatory content
This is why I find the
emoji the most important of them all.
Makes all the difference.
Sure, the character threads often are about romances. Those threads are not 80% of the forum. You said 8/10 threads, and I pointed out that in 2/3 forums, romance content is barely 10%. When you make inflammatory accusations using actual figures, there's got to be more evidence than "because I said so".
No, I'm calling you out on the inflammatory posts. This is a thread entitled "Romance". You start to talk about how people in Bioware games are overzealous about it and would rather there be no content but romance in games, and that they'd love it if Bioware made dating sims, all of which is quite clearly meant to be pejorative, and then act like the victim when I ask you to point out which people actually said this. Your clear implication is that a substantial portion of the fanbase just wants a DA:I dating sim.
What other conclusion are we supposed to draw from (i) people would be more angry if DA:I removed all non-romance content than romance content and (ii) people would love it if Bioware made dating sims and (iii) the forum is oversaturared with romance content?
That's because the majority of the threads i've entered happen to be discussing romance in some way shape or form. Anecdotal evidence is still evidence. You can choose not to believe me, I don't really care.
I never claimed that it was ever a "substantial portion of the fanbase" I said that "some posters would be happy were Bioware to start making dating sims." Which I have seen posters express. Not too many, and certainly not the majority, "some." You're putting words into my mouth again. Stop it.
This seems like the debate that never ends... I sang that as I typed it. ![]()
So... dem romances, right guys?
Here's something I'm a little curious about if our class will affect any dialog with companions (not class gates or anything like that small changes) like being a mage and trying to romance Iron Bull whose Qunari or Cullen whose had some really bad experiences with mages. Might just be a line or two difference but I wonder if anything like that will be in there or if it'll be kind of looked over like being a mage in DA2 kind of was most of the time.

Yeah, this one is going nowhere. Hopefully they've about got it out of their system.
I'm just hoping they get the advisors out in the next couple weeks and then they give us THE CHART. ![]()

I have a good feeling this will be incorporated more into DA:I than it was in DA2. :3 Mostly because this game seems to be getting much more development time. I'm really hoping, at least! I love those little differences that make more replay value and each playthrough unique.

I really would love to get more info on advisors! Especially this "Scribbles" character that remains an enigma to me. I don't follow her thread, but perhaps I should take a look... I'm quite curious.
edit: sorry if double posts are frowned upon... totally didn't think about that. ._.

I hope so I'm sure there are a few Cullen fans that will want to romance him with a mage and I may try it once I get around to a Cullen run so it would be nice to have some little dialog differences here and there I really think that Cullen and Iron Bull may be the most affected with a mage PC but thats just a hunch. Also it would be nice to see the other classes get some unique dialog too just little something sprinkled through out the game :3

I totally agree.
It's why I want to play a female mage Qunari my first time around, it's one of the most "taboo" things I can think of. *evil laughter* And I'm curious about Iron Bull's potential reaction, since he still is technically a part of the Qun. An unchained mage, and a female who fights. I remember Sten's thoughts on female warriors. xD
Yep. If romances aren't part of "the real game" what optional content is?
Nobody mentioned anything about "the real game" you read something into my post that wasn't there.

Yeah, I think it was hinted on Twitter that they would do profiles for advisors a while ago. I don't think we'll get the chart until they're officially announced. I mean, we'd see Scribbles name on there and be like.. who?
I don't think anyone cares, it's fine. lol

(I'm digging the poetry, though)

That would make the most sense, haha. xD Or who knows, they might find that highly amusing and use it as the way to get her name out. ![]()

After my test run I'm torn between my usual dwarven rouge or a qunari mage. It would be interesting to see Iron Bull's reaction to a mage female who fights though sadly Sten never seemed to notice that I was a mage just a woman would have been neat to see how he felt about taking orders from a bas serabass. Usually I'm not big on playing mages but I've got at least three playthroughs planned with mages as my chosen class ![]()
BUAHAHA. Now I'm so sad that I just ran out of likes... :'(
