Awww, I wouldn't mind IB holding me. :3 As long as he doesn't break my ribs.

Most guys that are pretty big (like 6'8"+) are actually very gentle when they give hugs, especially to guys and gals a lot smaller than them.   Of course, you might want to roll a human or a dwarf if you want IB to hug you (regardless of his LI status.)  IB looks like he gives bear hugs.

Yeah ahahaha I don't mind some roughhousing, but I don't wanna be snapped in half, either. I don't quite know if "gentle" is in his vocabulary (yet). He may be surprisingly gentle, which would be adorable. Or maybe not. I could see some humorous scenes of him bear hugging someone a little too tightly. xD

Like poor Cole.  Someone outside of the player is gonna want to hug him.  I really think that IB is kinda larger than life (no pun intended) and would be the type to give Cole a big ol' bear hug, likely squeezing the air out of the poor kid.

I know this feel so much. I adored Vega! And even though it stung, I understood why he wasn't romancable. What didn't help was the really awkward DLC stuff, but I don't wanna go there... They gave Femshep creeper vibes on more than one occasion.

 

But I admit I really want IB as a romance. I don't know if it's just excitement that we could finally have something different than humans/elves or I just keep imagining him as a big softie inside the huge exterior. Or both. But yep, want it.

I wanted to get this linked, since I don't think I have in the newest romance thread yet.  I'm also relinking this for the newcomers to the forums, since there has been quite a lot in the last few weeks.

I honestly don't understand why people support race-gating. Back in DAO, your Warden of any race could romance either human or elf without issues.

 

I know that the devs have mention at least one race-restriction but I find it completely unnecessary.

 

Unless they're just taking an easy way out in terms of animation.

I always hate it when people accuse the Devs of taking the "easy way out". They aren't doing that, they're working their asses off. If they ever choose the "easier" option for anything it's because they didn't have the time or resources to take the harder route. They have limited resources to work with and they have limited time to work with them.

 

I think it is, if you want, legitimate to criticize the studio for decisions that it makes. "They should have been given more time/monkey to finish this title so they could have changed X." And it's legitimate that to lament cuts that have to be made because you would have preferred they cut different content "I wish they had written less romances so that they could have made all romances available to all races." But they aren't being lazy.

The question to ask yourself, Kath, is whether you'd prefer Varric to be available to dwarven PCs only, or for Varric to not be available at all.

Because gender being the only retriction is idiotic in a setting where gender is a non-issue.

Either don't do restrictions, or make them heavy and numerous, half-ass restrictions are not welcome in my book.

 

(still prefer the no restrictions approach, but that ain't happening, so...)
