Gaymer X starts on July 11th (my birthday). That would be an awesome time to announce
that Cassandra is bithe rest of the love interests and who they are available for.

The OP suggests that race gating is a way to spread resources to more romances, since there's only enough for so many scenes.
He also got into it in the Sera thread as well:
The bottleneck for creating characters is less writing, and more cin design.
DA2 had 2 player models and 4 love interests, meaning custom cinematic scenes (required if you have intimate touching) required 8 scenes (assuming you only need one).
DAI has 8 player models. If we have at least 4 love interests (I suspect our minimum), that takes 32 scenes (assuming we only need one).
Alternatively, if we were to have no bisexual characters, we could use 4 (one gender, 4 races) per pairing, and we could have 8 love interests in the game with not tooooooo much extra work required by cinematics (writing would need more, but if it is determined that they have the capacity and cin design does not, then it's not a net drain on the overall timeline).
Now lets say we have those 8 love interests, and we mandate that in order to be fair they must be bisexual. Now we have 64 scenes to make. Lets assume a scene takes a cindesigner one day to make. We just added a full man month of work to the cindesigners. John Epler would be very, very sad
Cass as bi would be my dream. If it worked out so that I could have M/M Dorian, M/M Iron Bull, F/F Sera, F/F Cass... I'd be elated.
Ohmygod that's a total brain melt in logistics.

Is that a real saying?
OH WAI TNO I GET IT MY BAD.

Cassandra had better be bi
I have a whole stockpile of angry reaction gifs in waiting if this doesn't happen.

Iron Bull isn't confirmed as a bi LI and there isn't necessarily only one bi male LI, so Cullen isn't necessarily straight based on what we know.

I refuse to assume anything at this point. I was right about Dorian, but I was wrong about Sera, and I'll probably be wrong about the rest too.

There's that as well.
For all we know, for example, Varric could be the only straight LI and only for lady dwarves and elves. And everyone else unannounced is bi and some with heavy race-gating. It'd still technically fit the promise of having straight, bisexual, and gay options. Nothing has been promised to be even, just that we'd have choices. Many things are yet possible.

Have many people been discussing Varric LI? I haven't noticed it (save for Aimo and Kathtea LOL.)
A lot of people, for since 2010 in fact:

Allan told me once that fans were just infuriated when DA2 came out that Varric wasn't available as a romance. The fans of a Varric LI (hiya!) know that asking for a romance doesn't mean it's going to make it happen. Many of us don't hold a ton of hope. I did want to show that he has been and still remains a popular romance request. ![]()
No I mean for Inquisition.
edit: He just hasn't got as much LI chanting as he had before DA2.
Well, the thing is, Varric may have been considered because he was so popular before. The staff probably hadn't heard the demand for the new characters before they made LI decisions, but they knew people liked the idea of Varric as an LI last time. I don't know if it effected the decision or if Varric has other plans in the works for his character, but I imagine "old" demand is the demand they'd actually hear in time, when you think about it.

Mort nailed it, but I also can tell that part of it is that since BioWare hasn't done a dwarven romance, and that they keep stressing how much Varric loves Bianca, many of the Varric LI fans kinda gave up and stopped posting.
Aside from the Qun thing, this is my biggest misgiving about Iron Bull. I mean, I only have so much space in my archetypal favorites, and the "big guy fight, break things, grrrrrr" slot is pretty much full of tank-bred Krogan for the foreseeable future. I have no doubt that he's fun as hell to take questing, but I struggle to hang a relationship on violence and hedonism alone, and that's all I'm getting from him right now.
Haven't they also said he's like really loyal to his friends/comrades or something?
Man I bet Dgaider wishes he hadn't mentioned the chart now. It's probably starting to go too far like the food thing. Not that I'm not guilty of saying plzzz i want the chart
I don't think people would be asking for the LIs any less if Gaider didn't mention "the chart". They just would be saying "chart" less. lol

Yeah, all that comment did was another log to this bonfire.
Gaider didn't start the fire! It was always burning with the posters yearning...

So as much as I want to hold out hope that the rest of the LIs, at least the bisexual ones, will be announced at GaymerX, I'm kind of thinking they might just 'announce' Sera and Dorian as the gay romanceable characters in a more official capacity, and go, "and there will be X characters" who are bi options. Still looking forward to it though.
I don't know much about GaymerX... do they do gameplay demos there? I hope we get to see some of the more recently revealed companions doing their thing in-game, if so.

No I totally understand that. Things like that bore Garrus and Tali romances, after all. Then it got silly with Citadel DLC...
I just mean I don't see as much of a bandwagon for a Varric LI in this forum. That's all.

Aaahhh! That's what happened. I was wondering why it all dissipated after a while. Must have been the comic, too.

Just liking an accurate observation.
The momentum is still there, but I don't fault those who give up because when it comes down to it, it is a long shot. It's part & parcel of wanting (and/or playing) the least-popular high fantasy racial option after all.

I don't fault them for giving up either. I think I'm just a glutton for punishment. I will say that if Varric isn't available, at least I have my best (DA) bud back. ![]()
If Varric isn't a love interest, my female dwarf Inquisitor may end up sobbing into her ale and staying single forever.
(She might be willing to be consoled by Iron Bull or Blackwall, but given that Bull may be race-gated and I doubt Blackwall will be a love interest at all ...)
