I'm hoping there's a bigger focus on the writing and dialogue between said romance interests and less emphasis on PG-13 love scenes they remind me way too much of Ride to Hell: Retribution. (I lost a bet).

The reason why i'd prefer to see a bigger focus on writing and dialogue is for two things i love, To the Moon, and Clannad.

To the Moon and Clannad both have a love story as one of the main focus and both of them had no sex scenes or even a first kiss between the main love interests and it didn't need them. The writing was strong enough to support the romances and enough to make me care about their relationship and see what happen next.

Granted in both examples the love story was one of the main storylines and Dragon Age it's more or less optional content for the player but from what i've read so far Bioware is on the right track making the romances more mature and realistic and hopefully it doesn't turn out anything like Ride to Hell.

I'll just take that as a compliment...

well, I can't say anything against it. It's organized, colorful and the letters are big enough to be seen clearly. And as Eveangeline stated, it has Dagna on it. ;-)

I would trade in the fade-to-black scene in a heartbeat for more intimate/well written romance dialogue! I do still want to at least be able to kiss my LI though. :P

I just hope, we'll have as many possibilities to talk to companions as in DA:O. The few and very short dialog scenes are one thing I didn't like in DA2.

From what i've read there's suppose to be the most romances in DA:I out of any of the Bioware games including Old Republic.

I don't care about the sex scenes at all. I'd definitely take more dialogue over the sex scenes, if it was a workable trade off. Easily.

That was one thing I utterly missed. And many other people, too. I think if they've been listening to constructive criticism, they have most definitely taken that into consideration. :)

Whether Cole is confirmed not to be or not is a pretty contentious issue. Gaider's comments about it are older or somewhat vague and any requests for a clear confirmation have come up with nothing. It's strongly hinted that he's not, but I don't think they're allowed to officially confirm or deny anyone besides the four we have confirmed right now.

Yeah, that's what I thought was going on with the whole Cole thing.

Well there needs to be a dwarf romance... I hope. And if Varric isn't, then she would make extra sense. I think she was a teenager in origins, so now she'd be in her mid 20's

Well, she appeared at least eighteen.... and it's been over 10 years (as of Asunder) so I'd think late twenties to early thirties would be more accurate.

Hopefully keeping, however, DA2's vastly superior party banter.

That was a misinterpreted quote from E3. A dev later came out and said that was in reference to DA games, not all Bioware games.

EDIT: derp, I missed that someone already pointed this out, oops >.>

Hopefully... It was very strange that the companions had so many conversations among each other, but could only talk to Hawke when they offered a quest that needed to be done.

They also said party banter would be interactive this time, which I think sounds really interesting.

I've noticed a lot of people complaining that Leliana (and to a lesser extent, Morrigan) can't be romanced this game. How does everyone feel about that decision? Do you think past LIs should be considered as current LIs with a flag closing them off if they were romanced before? So, if you romanced Morrigan and not Leliana in DA:O, for example, Leliana would be available in DA:I and Morrigan's romance would be gated off. Or do you think LIs should only ever be available in one game?

I think past LIs being romanceable in a new game causes more headache than it is worth.  The *only* way I envision it unfolding smoothly is if the past LI was never romanced in the previous game.  There would be no conflict there.  If the past LI had the protagonist die on them in their romance plot or a span of time has passed and they have 'moved on' from the past relationship to open themselves up to a new one in a new game, it just opens up all kinds of potential story and relationship dissonance.

Personally, I'd rather returning LIs never be romanceable.  I prefer new people and new stories.  A non-LI returning in a new game and becoming an LI is fine.

Could be worse you could be the guy that misquoted information to begin with...

Ah well in hindsight that's still quite alot for DA:I

We can still do the math to figure out what we had vs. TOR.

We know it was 4 LIs in DA:O (Morrigan, Alistair, Zevran, Leliana) and 4 LIs in DA2 (Merril, Isabella, Anders and Fenris). There's flirting with Tallis and the chaste-ish marriage with Seb for FHawke's, so let's say it's 9 +/- 1 and count up to 10 to be pessimistic.

If DA so far has 10 Lis, how much did TOR have? This link (if my count is right) suggests 21 (http://ca.ign.com/wi...epublic/Romance).

That means we'd expect 11 LIs in DA:I? That's still ridiculous. It would mean basically everyone is romanceable except Leliana.

haha it's fine, not everyone was watching the news announcements on the game as it was was rolling out during E3 >.>

besides, if I recall correctly it was at least a day after the interview with that quote before the disclaimer went up... at least as far as I remember/saw.

I think they meant it has the most romances of any single game in the DA series so far, not more than both the others so far. So, it would be more like 6+, with DA2 having 5, is my impression.

If they're going to go the route where almost everyone is potentially romanceable, I still can't see Cole being an option from what Gaider has said about him. So that would leave out both Leliana and Cole. I really don't see that many romances happening, though.

She's not even an advisor so I don't see how its going to happen. Plus we have David Gaider's comments on dwarven romances.

Yeah same... based on what I've seen so far, I think there are at least 6 romances: 1 lesbian, 1 gay, 2 bi (female and male), and 2 hetero (female and male).

If we're lucky, all the talk about race-gating is relating to the "extra" LI outside of those six (say, Varic and Iron Bull) but of course that's just me being hopeful (and honestly the only way I see us geting Varic at all) xD

True, although Gaider has dismissed those quotes as just teasing people, and he said he was "tempted" to make Varric a romance option in DA2.
