I'll be that guy and barge in pointing that none of all the lists I've read mention race gating at all, and no, Iron bull doesn't count.

Why does elf/human feel wrong?

1. Humans have oppressed elves for centuries and continued to do so to this day. From destroying thier civilization to forcing their will upon them as either slaves or second class citizens.
2. Any offspring between an elf and a human will always be human. Elves are few enough as it is.
3. A long relationship is nearly impossible because of the staition, culture, beliefs, and religion between humans and elves. Most of the elf/human relationships we've seen have been mistresses.

If he is indeed bisexual, it's quite possible he didn't find either your Warden or Hawke attractive. Hell, he doesn't have to show interest in men during the previous games to be bisexual.

I'm just not sure where to even start with race gating. I can't guess at all who will be available for what races.

Kaiden never showed interest in men in ME1 or ME2, and look at what happened in ME3.

 

I don't think anyone is asserting as  a matter of fact that Cullen will be bi. I think it's wishful thinking more than anything.

Most people just argue that he could've just not realized he was into guys until he meets the Inquisitor or something?

 

OR that just because he only showed interest in Female Amell, that just means he didn't like Male Amell for whatever reason, not that he's definitely straight, etc.

He could have come out later in life or as Elu said, maybe just didn't find you (as in the PC) attractive.

 

As I've stated before, folks come out of the closet all the time, at all ages.  Here's an example for you.

 

Meet Meredith Baxter.  She's done many roles, but kids of the 80s might remember her as the mom on the show Family Ties.  This is a picture taken from right around that time period.

I could provide more celebrity examples, but I'm not going to clog the thread.  You should get my point.  Just because someone 10-20 years ago might have hit on the opposite sex does not mean that they are straight today.

I agree it's likely that he's straight, but to say he's going to be 100% with no doubt based upon flirting with a lady Amell is kinda silly.

He's a qunari and I do believe what Allan said about the technical issues.  I have no reason not to.  The height difference between a dwarf and a Qunari is the most drastic out of the races, therefore I think he'll be race locked since the devs have stated that the intimate moments can be tricky to animate, and they wanted to give that to the player.

Sad, but true. May not be bad if whatever magical adaptability is going on on the 2 is reversed or decreased (whatever that is).

Also, the only race gating I can guess right now is:

 

Cullen (No Qunari/Dwarves)  
Iron Bull (No Elves/Dwarves)
Varric (Dwarves Only)

 

That's IF Varric is a LI, which I doubt. I literally have NO idea about the female LIs.

And he was written as bisexual from the start.  For all we know, so was Cullen and Cassandra.  Unlikely, but the possibility is still there.

He would just be two heads taller rather than one head taller, that's not a really big size difference, and I'm sure he has a flexible spine.

I think a lot of people assume they wouldn't make Cullen straight because they think the straight male exclusive wouldn't be an NPC and mostly people assume there will only be one straight and one gay LI of each gender.

IAWTC and as I've said before, I don't see why the straight exclusive options couldn't be Cullen/Scribbles.

 

Thinking one of the companion LIs must be straight because Bioware is afraid of offending heterosexuals is ridiculous.

He was specifically referring to the world of Thedas rather than real-life, though I do completely agree with you.

 

In Dragon Age, we've never even seen a human/elf pairing because...let's face it, there's a lot more room that needs to be covered as far as reconciliation is concerned. I'd currently place the relationship dynamic as a comparative mix between the Jim Crow era and the Jewish Ghettos
