The question is really if only bi options will be race gated. Because both straight and gay LIs require the same amount of scenes without gating.  

 

That depends more on how many straight LI they have versus bisexual ones of the same gender. Example, if they had 3 straight male LIs and 1 gay LI and 1 bisexual LI,  you can only race-gate the straight LI because otherwise gay-male lose an option.

 

Although, they could do something super complex like race/gender-gating bisexual with straight too, but it might be a bit complex to handle.

Quite frankly, I think it'd have been a better idea to make fewer romances with fewer gates, unless we can ensure that no one has fewer than two options.

I am not sure how I feel about it right now. I agree with their choice to put equal options for gender/sexuality over equal options for races, if that's what they needed to do. Making sure real life groups have options is more important than making sure there are choices regardless what imaginary race you want to play, imo. It sounds like there are quite a few options, though. Probably more than they needed to make sure everyone got a choice. If the situation is that the "main" romances are intact and the romances that would have gotten cut if not for gating are the only ones effected, then it's not so bad. 

 

I guess I'll have to see how it plays out before I decide. Race gating doesn't worry me nearly as much as gender gating, but my impression is that they're making gender gating fair this time. So, I'm not too put off right now, I guess.

Like I said, I don't think it's going to happen.  She might be just an agent, she could have a bigger role.  Who knows?   I'm having fun just speculating, that's all.  I stand by my wish-list.  

Just a small point, Morrigan isn't technically one of the "advisers" but they confirmed that she'd be sort the magic expert for Inquisition, implying there are other roles besides just adviser and companion. So, if Dagna were say... our chief engineer. Then she might have as much to do as Cortez or Traynor. Sounds like a perfectly viable romance to me .

It doesn't really seem necessary to make clear that (for example, not that this exactly what  I want    ): Dorian and Sera -> same sex; Cullen and Scribbles -> straight; Solas and Cass -> bi; Varric -> bi + dwarves

My vote has always been let IB and Varric split the role for bi companion love interest and let all other gates be But that's only because that circumstance is in my best interest. Really I'll be happy with any setup so long as the companions have interesting story arcs regardless of romance. If it turns out my female dwarf has no one to romance, then I'll do my first playthrough without a romance, it'd be a first for me, but it could be interesting, and even more incentive to go back and play again.

In your list, Dwarven and Qunari lebians inquisitors, Dwarven gay inquisitors and Dwarven and Qunari stright male inquisitors are reduced to 1 LI

Don't matter how complicated the gating is, I'm counting on at least one option for each race/gender/sexuality combo. Didn't a dev confirm that? It'd not be cool if it wasn't so, they'd better have left every LI avaliable to everyone in that case

I wouldn't mind going back to having 1/2 LIs each. Ahh, remember the days when you had one straight male LI and two straight female LIs, one who might be bisexual? Loved and hated that. Mainly hated due to the lack of gay options and only one male option.

I see... Pity, I was starting to find amusing the idea of a super complicated chart   (maybe I'd be less amussed if I found out it lead my favourite race/gender/sexuality combo to sitting on the bench with Cole and watch the others have fun  )

I've been playing around with trying to divide up options with race gating and it's harrrrrrrrrrrd to make sure every race/gender/sexuality has 2 options. We are going to need the chart.

I'd be happy with the list as is. Seems fair numbers-wise to rl gender/sexuality combos. I really, really hope that the NCP's are bi.not a fan of b3.

Would it be as bad if theoretically any race could romance the LIs available, but the dwarves and kossith didn't have the cutscenes, just a fade to black?

I could get behind this , Lucy. It wouldn't be 'fair' for those races BUT if the romance scenes (I'm talking about the emotional content like conversations you have with LI etc) were still there I would be okay.

 

But, to be fair, I am very easy to please.
