It could be a class-based system. Dexterity for warriors, Cunning for rogues, and Willpower for mages.
Well... I don't see how exactly Willpower could help in this case. "Overcome discomfort/pain with a stiff upper lip"?

So does anyone else think Elves wont be able to romance Iron Bull?
I think that they'll be cut off from romancing him since they are the most frail looking race. Though as much of a jerk it makes me sound this is more of me hoping he is since its almost guaranteed that he's restricted from drawves, it wouldn't make since for him to be not cut off from those willowy thin elves as well.

I feel like I missed something...
Has race gating been confirmed for sure?

Dwarves are a solid people cut from stone.
They can do it. And elves' "willowness" is a plus - they bend, but not break. So I don't see why not. Though I understand your reasoning.

I think people are putting too much stock in the "frail" aspect and not enough stock in the cinematic work aspect. Humans and elves have similar proportions - dwarves do not. A scene for qunari and humans won't mean a lot of extra work for elves. It will mean a lot of extra work for dwarves.
So if elves are out, I'd bet humans are out too.

Sounded like it was in the OP post, though I'm still hoping I misunderstood what they meant by the race gates. But yeah it sounded pretty confirmed in the OP I believe that or on one of the first pages.

Darn right Dwarves are a proud and sturdy race! But it's due to the height difference they'll be gated I fear ![]()
I'm really just a horrible horrible person and don't want only my beloved dwarves to be left out in the cold all alone.

I know it's due to animations but they can't make the guy a love interest and put in his info that he'll sleep with people he's sure he wont break and only race gate dwarves who are a heck of a lot more sturdy than elves. It wouldn't make since with the info they've put out on him and I'd like the information they've put out on the characters to match them in game and make sense in game.

Ack...I....can't say I'm a fan of that.
I feel that dwarves may get the short end of the stick-no pun intended-with the LI's then. This does...not bode well for me as a proud Qunari/Dwarf shipper.

Also, how sturdiness is even an argument when we're talking about the goddam Inquisitor ?

Not a fan of it either. Dwarves are may favorite race and I was really looking forward to having a possible DwarfxQunari pairing in DAI those dreams are now crush and ground into a fine dust.

There is absolutely no evidence dwarves are more sturdy than elves or humans.
Too late to go back to playersexuality??? :'D
I don't mind fade to black. Jack's ME2 scene is probably my favorite Bioware love scene. Isabela's was nice too. ^o^
Racial benefits: +1 strength, +1 dexterity, +2 constitution, 10% chance to resist hostile magic
On a scale where 60 strength and 40 constitution are common, that's almost irrelevant.
There's nothing to suggest that dwarves are to humans what, for example, krogans were to humans in ME, which is what this business about extra sturdiness is about.

Well there is this from the wiki
Edit: The thing came out all wrong I'll post a link instead http://dragonage.wik...butes_(Origins)
But you seem to really dislike that notion which I'm not sure why exactly. Elves are a pretty weak race even down to them unable to birth other elves with any other race outside their own. I don't think any of the races have gone into the whole make up of which race is the strongest anyway so starting numbers are all we really have to go on.
I just find it odd that if Iron Bull is a race gated LI that dwarves would be the only ones restricted. Aside from starting numbers in origins elves just look frail and yes I know looks aren't much to go on. Again I just find it odd if he's only cut off from one race just like I would find it odd if he was available for only one race, if that makes any sense.

From the wiki
Strong, stocky, and shorter than any other humanoid race
Owing to their hardy constitution, sickness is thought to be rare among the dwarven folk.
Given the fact that they're actually making an effort to mention the constitution of dwarves and not for humans and elves (I checked to be sure) it would be safe to assume that they are considered to be hardier.

The wiki is a link to the bizzare attribute charts that have your character become 6 times stronger and tougher over the course of DA:O - which would mean things like going from being able to curl 25 pounds to being able to curl 150 pounds. I'm not saying that dwarves might not on average be stronger than elves or humans - which certainly seems to be a suggestion - but the idea that this difference is really meaningful enough to make some sort of difference is unsupported by anything in the lore or games.
Hell, we haven't even seen proof lore-wise that the Qunari are substantially stronger than humans - at least not much stronger than a 7 foot tall, 350 pound monster of that size would be IRL.
Edit: IB's reference is a reference to rough sex, and people make that IRL all the time without being able to break steel with their bare hands.

Sickness being rare doesn't mean physical endurance or strength. I haven't been sick in the past 6 years, but that doesn't mean I'm physical stronger (in fact, I'm decidedly not stronger than average despite being in pretty good physical shape).
I think what you also have to consider, though, is that Iron Bull will sleep with anyone he thinks wont break. So, it's not necessarily about fact. It's about his own impression of other people/maybe races. He might think elves and dwarves because of their size even if it's not really true.
I'm pretty sure it depends on the person. "Someone he won't break" means anyone who is physically strong enough in my mind, regardless of race. There are elves and dwarves who are physically stronger than most humans. I'm sure our Inquisitor will be stronger than most people period.
Obviously that will be hard to represent in-game with only gender and race restrictions.

Elves being unable to have elven children with anyone outside their race is implied to be due to magical reasons; there's no evidence it has anything to do with "strength", and I'm confounded as to why you think it makes them weak.
@In Exile
Like I said numbers are all we really have to go on since they have not gone into very much detail on the physical difference in strength from various races so numbers are all we have to go on and according to the starting numbers dwarves are stronger it's further down on the page but the starting numbers for races and classes are there. I did post the numbers but when I posted it they came out wacky and the chart they were in had disappeared.

That was a bad example on my part perhaps but the fact that they are absolutely unable to have elven children or even half elves with other races just comes off to me as their genes being weaker but I do know that has nothing to do with physical strength so a bad example on my end.
