But! But! But I killed tons of demons and mages and abominations without challenge! Heck, I killed pride abominations as just another boss fight! How could they be serious threats then? If I can do it, anyone in the setting can!

The taint...god lord what were they thinking. ?

I absolutely adore Dagna. I would kill to have her in the Keep. Maybe she could advise me on magical situations.

I was wondering do we know for a fact any of the other LIs have set sexualities? Just because Sera & Dorian are homosexual doesn't mean they didn't make all the other LIs Bi. It would mean homosexual people would get 1 more option than everyone else, but that wouldn't bother me. Homosexual people have gotten the short end of the stick in games for a long time. It would cause s*** storm with some people though. Anyway just a thought I had.

It was confirmed that there will be straight, gay, and bisexual LIs, yes.

I'm guessing 2 homosexual LIs, 2 straight LIs and the rest is bisexual with a bit of racegating here and there. If it were my game I would make it so any protagonist option would have an equal amount of LIs to go for.

Even though I'm aware that won't happen but every time I see suggestions where Qunari and Dwarves heavily get shafted, my heart breaks a little.

I'm guessing the 2 straight LIs are Cassandra and Solas, based on absolutely nothing.

I just had a thought. We had the option to help Dagna, but what about those players who refused to help her? Would her position in DAI change depending on what her fate was in DAI?

When a character's fate is variable like that, it seems unlikely they'll be a major character :(

Three words for you: Garrus and Tali

He fate isn't all that variable. Not necessarily. It could be that she and her family ended up on the surface for some other reason. If she had a major role her abilities/opinions could simply vary depending on whether she was trained by her father, or the mages.

I definitely agree and hope BW aren't afraid of pissing off those who refused to help her. I WANT to see Dagna in DAI and I'd love it if she had a big role... and if she were a romance :D

Oh I would love this too. She's just, a dwarf with her perspective could do so much to help the Inquisition. On the romance side of things she's the cute nerdy type, my favorite type of romance.

That's great news for all the Dagna fans I'm very happy for them :) She was pretty adorable in Orzammar be nice to see that cute upbeat enthusiasm of hers back for DAI.

Cheers thank you.

I'd personally be fine if a Dagna romance was a little romantic easter egg for dwarven inquisitors, especially if they were race gated from other options. It doesn't need to be something as full blow as companion or adviser, just something sweet for interested players.

Hi all!

I read some of the past posts (because it's almost a 300-page thread) :D

And I just thought I'd put in my 2 cents.

I think it's implied in Mr. Gaider's Dorian interview that Dorian would be the only strictly male s/s romance in this game, which makes me think it's highly likely that there would be only one female s/s romance (Sera) and only one o/s romance for each gender. It remains to be seen how many companions can be romanced by both genders.

On race gating - I heard a lot about Varric being gated/restricted to dwarves only, but I have never understood what this was based on. As a matter of fact we know that at least one of his family members has been married to a human (the oh-so-awesome Magister Maevaris Tilani).

I actually think the character most likely to be race gated (if she is even romanceable at all) is Vivienne. My reasoning is this: Vivienne seems to be very concerned with status and appearances. In Thedas in general elves are considered inferiours, and that is even more true in Orlesian society. For that reason, I think it unlikely for Vivienne to allow herself to be associated closely with an elf, even if they are the Inquisitor.

It's based on the comment Varric makes during the Merrill romance that he's not attracted to humans. Which isn't actually a good basis for anything other than not being attracted to humans, assuming he wasn't just joking.

I would say that Vivienne is concerned with getting whatever she wants. If she's attracted to an elf or qunari, then that's what she wants.

Besides, the Empress has an elven lover. It can't be that bad.

The Empress is the Empress. Quod licet Iovi non licet bovi. And besides, the Empress gets quite a bit of resentment for that affair.

Doesn't stop it from being a big no-no among the Orlesian nobles society and she kept at it for selfish reasons that aren't exactly "I love her" (that's how I interpreted it at least).

I'm definitely becoming more and more convinced that people are just never going to stop complaining about romances.

People (me included) complained about the "variety of sexualities" approach in the BG2-ME2 years because, inevitably, gay and lesbian players got either zero or only one option when straight players often got multiple options.

People complained when they went to a mostly bisexual approach in DA 2 because it wasn't "realistic".  Some straight guys complained that straight women got more options.

People complained with ME 3 because straight women got less options, the gay and lesbian LI's were NPCs and not squadmates, and people complained about not being able to romance Samantha because she was gender gated (never really saw many complaints about Steve.....).

Now with DA: I, people are complaining because straight players might get less companion LI's than gay players (not confirmed), that the male LI's are ugly, that the female LI's are ugly, that Sera is gender-gated, etc.

It's tiring.  I actually see people who argued against the DA 2 approach now complaining about this game because they can't romance Sera.  I just.....can't.  I think I need a break.

No idea.  I can't actually remember that far back to people who specifically complained about that to people who are now complaining about the Sera approach.

Edit: Of course, the old threads are still around I'm sure to check, but a lot of people have left since then though it was also a big deal before the new system was announced.

Don't ask me. I know people that are unhappy with the current system, but they liked DA2's.

Consider that even last year romance threads popped out often and there were people that complained about DA2's system.

Yes.  It's both.  It's mostly people who were happy with DA 2's system complaining about the DA: I system.  However, there are definitely people who told me that the all bisexual approach was silly because it was pandering and all characters should have unique sexualities (even though bisexuality is a set sexuality) that are now complaining that they can't romance Sera and that it's unfair to straight guys.  smh
