It's going to get worse once they announce them all.
I'd rather just get it out of the way before close to release.

Honestly, with the options that are now, i don't know if I will even have a romance. I never thought I'd say that about a dragon age game. Have they denied that Varric will become one for a female dwarf yet?
Agreed.I'd rather just get it out of the way before close to release.

Better now than upon release.
It will blow up at first, but then people will get used to it well before release, assuming it's at all fairly distributed. Most of the complaints I see right now are about who they're going to get and that leading to bitterness that Sera is already confirmed. I don't even see many actual complaints about Sera and Dorian at this point. It seems to be mostly concentrated on "why are there none for me?" and concerns like the poster before that straight women will only get one option.
And announcing the straight options will give people that wanted to romance a character with the same sex a chance to accept they're not going to and to get used to a different character, also. I think the longer people keep believing they have a chance, the harder it is to let it go.
Honestly I don't think Bioware gives a **** if people are upset on the forums about their choices or lack there of.
People forget that the BSN is a very small percentage of the people who are going to be buying this game. Most people probably wont even know who all of the romances are before they buy it even if Bioware had released all of the LI's.
Though, I am seeing a fair number of gaming new sites reporting that Dorian is the first gay full companion.

As in gay male ![]()
Juhani was the first lesbian companion.
I know equal amount of dialogue it's not the whole problem (not for me anyway, though it's not like it's a bg problem for me, either)... but, this might make feel anyone better about NPC romances?

is there going to be an interview with the Lelianas writer? Did the advisors get the same sort of writing budget as companions?
I think so? And yes.
That's a lot of characters to spread the words between

No not to me. I'm still of view that they will to all intents and purposes come off as inferior to companion romances. Hence i still want advisors within Bi slots if there's a 2-2-2 approach.
Yes. It's both. It's mostly people who were happy with DA 2's system complaining about the DA: I system. However, there are definitely people who told me that the all bisexual approach was silly because it was pandering and all characters should have unique sexualities (even though bisexuality is a set sexuality) that are now complaining that they can't romance Sera and that it's unfair to straight guys. smh
A nice Dorian by Ymirr
(flies away)
A gorgeous Victorian Dorian by Ymirr
I agree that there's no way to avoid complaints. DA2 gave the "everyone is bi" option and people found new things to complain about, like how Anders apparently forced himself on unsuspecting straight guys which scarred them enough to post about it unceasingly on forums and social media for the years to come.

Personally I still like the idea of set sexualities if it's done so that everyone has at least 2 options. Personally I don't mind if they both are bisexuals or that one orientation will get one option more. Usually I don't create male PCs but if there is a male LI in a game that I want to romance but who is only available to male PC then I would have a good reason to create a male PC.
I was wondering about playersexual race gating.
We know that Cassandra, Cullen, Sera, and Dorian are romances. We know that Sera and Dorian are gay. I wonder if, then, Cass and Cullen are straight. And all four of them are open to all races. Hence, gender gated (lol) but not race gated.
Then I realized that Iron Bull, Solas, Varric, and Vivienne each represent one of the four races - Qunari, Elf, Dwarf, and Human. So they can be race gated (to their own race) but open to either gender. (I know that seems "off" for Varric, but it is the only fair way.)
The problem would be that it kinda messes things up for straight dudes, though. Because the race specific ones are mostly all dudes. Maybe if Scribbles is available to make up the rest for dudes.
First gay, or first male gay? I only saw link to IGN (I think) and it was the latter, and that's pretty accurate.Though, I am seeing a fair number of gaming new sites reporting that Dorian is the first gay full companion.
I doubt that other then Cass/Sera straight males and lesbians will get only one choice.I was wondering about playersexual race gating.

Sorry Sera, f/f is not real gay.
And that saddens me, everyone acts like Dorian is the first gay companion ever... what about Sera? Sam? Steve?
*rolls eyes* Fooking media sometimes...
Edit: and he's not the first gay male. Steve Cortez is.
I don't really agree with people that say it's fair as long as everyone has two choices. That doesn't indicate fairness at all. Everyone had a possible 2 choices in ME3 and it wasn't anywhere near a fair system. It's fair if everyone has the same amount of choices and a relative amount of content for their choices. If someone gets 2 choices and someone else gets 5 choices, there is no way you can sell that to me as fair.
He's reported as first gay 'full companion' character from what I saw. So Steve doesn't exactly fall into this category. And that saddens me, everyone acts like Dorian is the first gay companion ever... what about Sera? Sam? Steve?

I don't think the media deserve flogging in this particular case, tbh. They are just repeating what they were told by BioWare as part of the game marketing effort, after all.
I wonder why i haven't seen any article news on Sera?
I think the reaction to Dorian is mostly because adding a gay male is seen as ballsier than adding a lesbian. There was a lesbian character in a Bioware game (Juhani) ages before Cortez was added and he isn't even a companion. ME3 had bisexual female content in two games before adding any same sex male content. If you want to add a gay character, lesbians are the "safer" choice. Of course, lesbians are still underrepresented, by far, and I think Sera deserves praise. I'm just not shocked by the reaction to Dorian.
