Right. The toxic mentality of hyper masculinity directed at young men in society (don't cry, don't be weak, etc) is because of sexism against women and the idea that as a man, being seen as female is the worst possible thing ever. Just wish more people would realize that.

Yeah, when I first read it I thought it was going down the route of "feminism is responsible for everything bad in your life" but was pleasant surprised, lol.

Walking by any combination of people making out could not be more awkward or uncomfortable than having your father ask you and your grandmother who you'd rather see making out, I have to say.    

 

My father sad to say is more of less a teenager in an adults body. I don't remember how it was brought up though I think he was talking about some prison guards that assaulted him and that somehow got to the topic of homosexuality. My father's side of the family tries to both be open and closed up with topics like that so I've gotten a lot of strange things said to me before about homosexuality or sexuality in general.

I've almost got him talked into playing Mass Effect.  Generally, RPGs aren't his thing, but considering he met Mark Meer with me, he's going to give it a shot.

Can we talk for a minute about that amazing drag queen in that comic?  She looks like a body-building Jessica Rabbit. 

 

Another thing is on the internet, they're anonymous. I'm not taking about your friends specifically but in certain cases the homophobic and violent tendency can come out more easily since they wouldn't be judged and tied to their identity regardless of how they react.

 

^^ THIS.  The anonymity of the internet exacerbates the issue.  People aren't held accountable for their actions on the internet so it's creating this entire culture of people bringing this **** into the real world and then being shocked when it doesn't fly.  Some days I actually debate whether the global loss of the internet would be a good or bad thing.

Him and Jennifer are both just awesome people.  It's amazing how much they love the fans, and grinned every time they saw a Fem or Male Shep (which I saw both at the con), or when someone was wearing an N7 hoodie.

So speaking of this, I really like cute baby animals. It's the sort of thing that really perks up my day when I'm feeling down. My best friend (who also happens to be a guy) will totally send each other pictures of, say, a baby penguin in the news if we know the other had a rough time. We've been doing this long enough that sending pictures of baby animals when sad has become a kind of default response for me. 

 

Anyway, at some point another (less close) friend of mine was feeling down, so I figured, cute baby animals always cheer someone up! I found this adorable video of a kitten and puppy playing together on youtube, and forwarded it to her. Suffice it to say that the reaction I got was not what I was expecting. Very much a "what is wrong with you for liking this, you're a dude" sort of thing.

I didn't even that they were going to be at Denver Comic Con.  My husband did, but decided to surprise me.  Amusingly enough, I had finished the ME series for the first time barely two weeks before the event.  

 

@Exile: You'd get along well with my husband I'd think.  He has a bizarre and at times just twisted sense of humor, but loves sending me pics of puppies and fox kits, which are my favorite animal.  I have a tattoo of a fox on my arm, and he knows a fox kit never fails to make me smile.

 

I love conversations like this.  You guys have really helped make this into a safe place for the LGBTQ gaming community.  I have never been on a forum board where I can be out as both as a woman and as pansexual.  This is wonderful for me.  The mods do a lot, and the new forum system helps.  Yet, so do you guys, my fellow posters.  Thanks for overall making this one of the most LGBTQ friendly game forums on the net.

On a totally off thread (but firmly on the off-thread discussion) topic, I work in an office where I'm the only guy out of 9 of us.  Every Friday they send out baby animal emails to each other and I have this awful cognitive dissonance.  On the one hand, I hate to fall into traditional gender roles by being the "guy who doesn't think cute stuff is cute".  On the other hand, I hate to fall into traditional stereotypical gay roles by being the "gay guy who likes all the girly stuff".  I've settled on trying to blend the two together by being the "gay guy who doesn't like all the girly stuff", but it still sometimes feels like I'm just being a "guy" and it bugs me.

 

Anyway, back onto topic:  How about those DA I romances, huh?

Who do you think is the next LI reveal?  I'm thinking Solas or Iron Bull at this rate.  Well, if they don't confirm Cullen and Cass' sexuality first.  I'm beginning to think, judging from the number of threads that keep popping up on the subject, that it might be time to get C&C's sexualities confirmed.

Psychologically everyone is so effed up nowadays that the best approach is to just do whatever makes you happy and say to hell with everyone else.

 

My advice:

 

Stop worrying about stereotypes in general and just be yourself. Life becomes a lot more enjoyable.

Solas is a possibility, but I dunno about IB. I doubt he's a romance as much as a booty call, lol.

At this rate, they'll reveal she's a LI before she has a name.  It's becoming a running joke in the Scribbles thread that her name is going to be released about two weeks before the game is.

I hope that they confirmed Cass and Cullen (and Iron Bull, if applicable) so that everyone can have at least one option and be happy.  Then, I'd be okay with them holding off on any other LIs for a few weeks.
