I thought that it was said that due to race-gating, the 2/2/2 and 2/4/2 (aka even numbers) theory has been thrown out the window?
I think maybe we originally had 2/2/2 and then they later added the racegated LIs, who I think will both be bi. Taking us up to 2/4/2.

I've re-read your posts and nowhere did it say that you actually wanted that to happen for straight men. You probably got the same sort of wry chuckle as I did at the idea, but I have never seen you post inequality for straight players.

if I had more likes to give I would. But yeah, I never have said that's something I want, but a lot of guys get upset at me for just being critical of them being upset or angry for no logical reason. I don't think we know enough about anything for anyone to be justified in panicking over their potential lack of romance options.

<hugs> We've all had those days. Like me yesterday. I misread someone's post and felt like a royal jackass afterwards. I apologized, but I'm sure I still made them understandably upset. 
And Nocte (I still want to call you Mort,) I'd happily take Varric as a LI. Thanks for putting him on your list.

I could see Varric being added in there somewhere as either a straight or bi LI to balance out gating. It's possible that there are more male LIs than we think with more layers of gating, since there are way more males than females.
This is how I hope it turns out:
I'm just really uncomfortable predicting every single significant woman bar Leliana is a LI.
So...
For men: Cassandra, Dorian, Scribbles, Iron Bull (qunari, humans)
For women: Cullen, Sera, Scribbles, Iron Bull (qunari, human), Varric (dwarves)
I just have an equally hard time not seeing the very conventionally attractive Viviene as an LI, and since Cass was confirmed as an LI... that would leave Scribbles as the odd one out, except for the fact that we heard "some" as opposed to "one" advisor is an LI (and we know Cullen is one).
I would prefer gender gating over playersexual. RACE GATING on the other hand, not a huge fan of that, frankly. :/ Back in DAO, your race never mattered.
To be completely fair, DAI is going to have higher quality cutscenes than DAO ever did. Ones where popping the dwarf/elf character up as if they were suddenly standing on a stool off screen probably won't fix. And I suspect it's more time/budget consuming to try and align a dwarf with a qunari than anything else.

Was Samara not conventionally attractive? It's not wholly unprecedented.

If it makes you feel better, Gaider all but confirmed that there's race-gating to romances in Inquisition, and the most likely characters they'd do that for are Iron Bull and Varric.
And seeing as how Iron Bull is at this point still more likely a LI than Varric, it bodes well for those of us that want to #ridethebull
