Yeah I wouldn't mind the usual help companion with major deal quests but once in a while I'd like it if they could show they do some things on their own. No more facepalm moments like Leliana deciding to bend to whatever decision you made regarding Marjoline would be fantastic. Maybe it should've been something she did on her own but if you hardened her beforehand she killed Marjoline, if you softened her she didn't. And the hardening/softening would've happened over the game depending on what you said to her and how you treated her but it wouldn't have been as simple as the "Lol you like being a bard."

But yeah Cullen =/

That concept art did look really good XD

Yeah I always felt jerkish hardening Leliana or Alistair in any of my playthroughs though killing Marjoline did feel pretty good   That would have been a much better hardening or not system though would involve a lot of backtracking if you messed up like I did before with Leliana and twice with Alistair but that's what I get for rolling goody goodies.

I shouldn't really be so bleak until I see more info especially since I'm ehh about Cullen but I can't help but to be wary about the whole thing and you already know it's going to end tragically maybe not so in the game but it'll only be a matter of time before he loses his mind to the lyruim, its unavoidable like Blackwall eventually going to his calling might not happen in game but it will happen so no need to add to the misery in my opinion.

It was my wallpaper for a long time when I first found it^^; Was tempted to make it my profile pic when I first made this account but couldn't get a good one at the time^^; (plus I'm happy with my huldra picture now)

The line to harden Alistair is bleh at best. Really you'd think he'd harden from all the time spent with my douchecanoe warden but nope. Instead of seeing everyone just about is out for themselves my warden has to be captain obvious -_-

I don't blame you D: maybe we can find a cure for lyrium addiction? ha. who am I kidding :crying:  Part of the reason I'm not even trying to get attached to Cullen. Nope. See that trainwreck coming a mile away. Same with Blackwall =/ I mean I don't mind tragic/emotionally damaged romances but hell I just want something different for a f/m option. Let the LI be the therapist for a change >_> it's not like the PC has such a happy beginning.

It is a nice picture :)

The medias are being very selective, I didn't see as many articles about Sera being gay, it's just that because now it's a gay man.

The news sites made the choice to pile articles upon articles on the fact that Dorian is gay (they also made it look like it was the focus were it was just one aspect of the character, that's misinformation), they are the one to blame.

Uhh. They are reporting Dorian as being "first gay character" etc because that's what BioWare page tells about him. It's a fact that's explicitly brought up as important aspect by the character's own writer. In contrast, Sera's page has no mention whatsoever about her being lesbian. I'm fairly sure if Sera was presented as a similar 'ground breaking' character in materials as easily accessible, that might've led to similar reports about her. But as she wasn't (and she isn't) then there's that.

I really don't think it's fair to present is as "very selective", if just because it requires quite... selective way to view the events, ironically. One that ignores these factors.

For all Gaider's dark and/or harsh layering within a companion/romance, there is always a very tender and soft center to them.  Sometimes even incredibly romantic and flowery.

Makes me feel lonely and for my PC to wish someone would care enough to listen to them complain for conversations on end. XD

Yeah, isn't it about time an LI/companion listens to us complain and does OUR sidequest for once?   ;)

I haven't cared for romancing any of his characters so far. All of them make me cringe in one way or another. Even the "nice"/mushy parts.

Except HK-47 and Shale. Heh..

Zevran might've been the coolest, but I've never completed it per se.

Agreed, I had to ask my cousin for confirmation if that line was really going to work since they convince me to try an Alistair romance on my first run and warned me up and down to harden him. It just seemed so silly to have to point out that out to him and I lost a whole 10 or 15 sovreigns too because of his sister :/

It's a serious train wreck to be sure but maybe they'll keep it out of the game and let players play make believe and pretend they found a magical cure for it? That seems unlikely though (though writing tragic romances are fun I have a hard time writing stable relationships myself I think I've wrote maybe one that barely counts xD) So I can see how the devs might lean towards more tragic  romances since they can be more fun to write but would be nice to have a stable relationship where you LI asks you if you're alright for once and if you need to get anything off your chest instead of the other way around for once :)

Thank you :)

Liam Neeson semi confirmed to be Blackwalls VA...

I want it. If he is, Blackwall has earned a permanent place in my squad.

If there's going to be tragic romances (which, yes, I agree it's kind of a given...) I really just hope that they're equally distributed, and I know what DG said about equal distribution and I know DA teams is not ME team, but, seriously, I see the problematic situation with IB and the Qun, I see Blackwall with thw Calling and maybe even Cullen and the lyrium thing... and the ME3 trauma makes me be wary about straight femquisitor perspectives  :(

I hate hardening Alistair. I really can bring myself to say someone I like (and I like Alistair) "you're on your own" when is having a bad time. I've done it, of course, to see how it goes, but I hate it... so now Ainora is always queen  :P

Ewww even my nice people go "nope sorry Alistair I'm broke." I wouldn't give that money grubbing harpy a cent.

xD Well the warden hasn't seemed to go all zombie on us so maybe. :3 I enjoy manipulative harsh relationships but yeah sometimes some fluff is nice just to do something different. And you can have a stable partner with drama from outside of the relationship (overzealous parent, overzealous other companion, so on). And yes asking if the PC is alright and offering some support would be lovely :)

I really thought it needed gentler phrasing. (and really you should've been able to harden him if hostile.)

I hope DAI isn't too rough on her :(

I hope at least in the end she and my warden can be reunited. Assuming my warden doesn't get a bridge dropped on her.

I think Alistair's sister definitely deserves the cash. I mean, if he deserves my ear about his whining, then she at least deserves something too. He acts like his problems are so big, when everyone in my group, including the Warden themselves, has been screwed over about something. While his sister is another person with more problems than his.

I'm not romancing him though. Maybe that changes things.

Personally don't view her as deserving anything. I definitely lean towards hardening Alistair and i pretty much always harden Leilana.

It's less about the romancing (even my dude didn't give her the cash) and more about her being completely ungrateful about it. Even a child knows how to say thank you. And it was hardly the PC and Alistair's fault she had a horde of kids she couldn't afford. So yeah she pretty much hit all my do not want buttons.

Mine do that now but the first time around I was kind of afraid of setting him off or making him mad (which made me a miss out on a lot of fun dialog since I was worried he couldn't take a joke^^; )

Most of the relationships I write are pretty messed up in one way or another but after having to deal with Anders and Fenris I'd be down for a happy relationship I don't mind some drama but not constant. Though I always always am unable to make my PC be manipulative I did it once in DA2 and just felt like I needed a shower to wash away the ick afterwards   Though I really do hope we get some other companions coming in and questioning the relationship almost like how Wynne did in DAO. Yes i would love to see more things of the LIs comforting the PC the comfort scene after Hawke's mother dies is a good start so I'd love some more things like that  :)

She is ungrateful, but.... I understand it. I guess.

It doesn't take much to imagine her personal story. I'd have a huge chip on my shoulder too. Imagine being a little kid and some rich ****** lays with your mom, gets her pregnant, then she dies, and your whole life is uprooted, you're kicked out of what little comfort as a peasant you had, and thrown out without much to support yourself.

I'd probably end up a bandit though. Not merely bitter about it. lol

Yeah there's times tho I thought I was joking and all of a sudden minus massive amounts of approval D:

Same. But yeah I want something happy , I mean I can do the evil manipulative makes you want to get the grime off you romances but I just want one equals, fluffy romantic f/m one. Just one. Though yes I don't mind peanut gallery comments :3 (long as it's not the stupid hurr durr she should be with me not you variety). Yes I love the Leandra scene :3

And no matter how much I do to help these pointless NPCs, it'll be forgotten anyways. You heard what I said in the Dalish thread already. Kind of applies here too.

Always too afraid of crossing that line so I have to ignore my own sense of humor which is pretty mean and dry to avoid making him upset^^;

Agreed variety is key though I think most people I know would rather experience a happy romance than a tragic one, tragic romances to me are more interesting to watch not to go through. Playful comments and party banter would be great I've always loved those about the DA series, light teasing among the companions and as awful as it may sound at times I do enjoy the jealous banter as well. Even if it is unexpected like Alistair getting mad at Morrigan for taking his new friend away from him just made me want to turn around and pat his head and tell him to relax xD. I really REALLY want something along those lines like worried friend banter. For example a PC whose close friends with Cassandra and in a relationship with say Iron Bull would get to hear Cassandra warning Iron Bull not to hurt you like any good protective friend might do.

Yeah it's meh.

It doesn't help that the games often have tragedy heavy to begin with. So it's just more tragedy piled on tragedy. And while I didn't like the jealous banter that much I did like the gentle ribbing between companions. Yeah Alistair getting mad at Morrigan was lol XD

(Seriously though I want the PC and the f/m LI to swap when it comes to warrior therapist role. They don't even have to be that stable. Just have them ask the PC about his/her feelings and how he/she is doing most of the time instead of the reverse).

Yeah I see what you're saying :)

That's a good idea, if it's unique across different characters.

I disliked that they tried to do it with Liara across the board. That should've been her romance stuff.

Yes.

Agreed. Really didn't help that Liara held a torch for goddamn ever. Garrus had a few moments like that with my male Shep and I felt it worked well enough. They were also for the most part avoidable (save that one go get some rest after the citadel scene I think). They fit well as friendship moments.

Liara's scenes also weren't really helped by that limited as hell dialogue wheel. (I can only bring up Ashley/Kaidan in my remembering the fallen and not Thane/Mordin who just died? Wut?) Or her being the only ones you could have those scenes with.

It shouldn't have to be romance exclusive. It should however be entirely optional and the character shouldn't barge into the PC's quarters to initiate said conversations unless they're an LI (for that PC I mean. Not just being a LI in general).

Guess I really shouldn't count the Alistair and Morrigan thing as jealous banter but jealous was exactly what Alistair was and I loved that it was adorable on him and nice to see him trying to look out for his friend who was horribly wrapped around Morrigan's little finger.

I just want the LIs or companions to take a time out and ask "Hey you okay? That thing that happened at X and with Y was pretty rough you holding up alright?" Instead of "Oh woe is me PC come and listen to my problems whilst I ignore any you may have because I need you to fix my things for I am helpless on this without your help."

Oh good I was worried I was sounding like a gabbering fool. Yesh romance banter is great protective friend banter is even more awesome xD

XD Morrigan's rubbing it in was amusing.

Yes I would love that. One scene that always gets me is Alistair going on about Duncan. Then woe and behold if you're a human noble. "Have you ever had someone close to you die?"

"My whole family got slaughtered recently." There's like 2 lines of OMG sorry! Then welp thx for listening to my problems. It's a good thing I played most of my wardens as the stoic. (well except when it came to Howe and Loghain. Then it was rage mode). And he keeps bringing up Duncan after that but talk to you about your killed by goddamn Howe family? Nope.

Hell Wynne talks to the PC about his/her background better than the LIs do.

XD it is! I just don't want another Anders incident where he's all "he's terrible for you. You should pick me. I totally am a sane and healthy option!" blatant lies.
