I'm going to come out and say it: I hope that both Cassandra and Vivienne are bi and Scribbles is straight. Cassandra because of the fanbase I don't want to have disappointed, and Vivienne because I'm sort of intrigued by her. I'm willing to take Vivienne being straight if it means Cassandra's lesbian fans get her, but having both would be quite nice.

All we know for now is four: Sera, Dorian, Cassandra and Cullen.  Neither Cassandra nor Cullen have had their sexuality revealed as of yet.  The rest is very wishful thinking.

We know we're getting more than any previous dragon age game. Six is the minimum, by that count.

Okay, popping back in here in the middle of probably a totally different discussion...

 

I know some people speculate that because there will be some race-gating due to resources (hard to code for romance scenes between all the different races, so they had to limit it) there will be as many as 8 LIs--four ladies (all the women except Leliana!) and four gentlemen.

 

IF there are eight, I speculate that four of them will be bisexual, to allow for the greatest possible range of LIs for everyone.

 

The Women:

• Cassandra - Straight or Bisexual
• Scribe Woman - Straight or Bisexual (unconfirmed as LI)
• Sera - Lesbian
• Vivienne - Straight or Bisexual (unconfirmed as LI)

The Men:

• Blackwall - Unknown.  (unconfirmed as LI)
• Cole - Asexual?  (Not an LI.  Mentality of a child.)
• Cullen - Straight or Bisexual
• Dorian - Gay
• Iron Bull - Bisexual? (unconfirmed as LI)
• Solas - Unknown.  Said to be open minded.  Bisexual possibly.  (unconfirmed as LI)
• Varric - Most likely Straight. Possibly Bisexual.  (unconfirmed as LI)

 

Okay, now that that's out of the way...

 

If there are eight, it's a bit problematic that every woman companion or advisor who is not Leliana is going to be available to romance.    It IS possible that someone else may be available instead, i.e. Dagna, but this is unlikely.

 

My thoughts on the men, IF there are 8 LIs (which I'm not counting on, mind you):

 

Blackwall is unlikely to be the fourth man.  Several people in various threads, and some of the developers themselves, say "He looks like my dad."  To be fair lots of people find him attractive, so if he's not that won't be any fun for you and I feel bad about that.  I don't want him personally but I can understand why people might.  He seems like a decent guy, from his character bio.

 

Varric may be an option, but only if he is able to move past Bianca.  Given that this has been a big part of his character (the crossbow and the woman) background, to me it might cheapen him if he suddenly decides to prove disloyal, even given the dire situation during the Inquisition.  That's a personal opinion, though, and I'd certainly welcome him as an option.  And yet, I can't say he seems likely, due to his backstory with Bianca.

 

That leaves us with Solas, whom many do not find attractive (others do).  I've found him a bit less attractive with each new screenshot as his character has been tweaked(sorry other Solas fans... he's still all right but I need to see how he looks in-game to solidify my opinion, due to some rather unflattering screenshots).  However he does have an interesting background and an interesting story.  Drawbacks?  He hangs out with Blackwall talking about "kids these days."  Edited to add:  His age is somewhere early to mid 40s, which to me is not super-old, especially since the Inquisitor can also be in his/her 40s.  Have noted in his character thread that it seems odd that someone his age would go on about "kids these days;" he's a bit young for that, isn't he?  That said, though I don't think he's smoking hot, he's my personal preference for romance, in no small part because of his interesting personality and backstory (what little we know of it).

 

... So, IF there were eight total LIs, to me, it seems like the last man is a tossup between Varric and Solas, with a slight leaning toward Solas due to his not having any currently known baggage.

As a huge fan of stubble, I can't really complain.

I'm not a fan of stubble. Maybe that's why Dorian and Solas are my favorites, least stubble of the group. lol

You know, I really didn't get what was so awesome about Cullen - I thought he was average-looking, kinda awkward, and more than a bit justifiably crazy after being tortured by blood mages.

 

But uh... wow. Time has been good to our resident troubled templar. And I think now that he's cooled down on the crazy and seen the absolute worst of both sides, he might actually make a good romance arc. Which puts me in a bit of a sticky situation. I like everyone so far. Except Dorian's mustache. I'm not a huge fan of mustaches. Sigh. Good problem to have.

I'm usually not into mustaches/beards, but I can deal with the classy mustache/goatee or soul patch combo that they put on a lot of the "charismatic" types in fantasy. That's basically Dorian's image. Or Dorian Gray as seen in The League of Extraordinary Gentleman. Full beards, though, noooooooo.

I never really imagined it, but that does seem like a real possibility.

 

Would probably be too far-fetched for me to hope for both Varric and Iron Bull, though.  Solas seems like a shoo-in if that were the case.  Hard to say.

 

At least the ladies don't seem as difficult to figure out.
